I receive the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm as a sample,so I wasn't really familiar with this product. I used it as directed and I was immediately impressed with the results,my skin was left so soft,and dewy looking! This is such an amazing cleasing balm,but it can be used as an overnight mask as well,which I tried it out as,and I loved it!! I will now be using this as part of my daily skincare regimen! So I havent tested this product with makeup. However, for getting that grimey feeling off your face at the end of the day this product is AMAZING!! It doesnt leave a greasy residue after its wiped off, and it has helped clear my breakouts (it has pore clogging ingredients, but I haven't broke out from it). It has also helped tremendously with my sebaceous filaments and large pores in my nose. And it smells sort of like eucalyptus and citrus with some earthy undertones. A little goes a long way. The breakouts are painful as well and this is the only new product i had introduced to my skin. I needed to find something to take with me on a cross country motorcycle trip to where I'd be camping in bear country etc. So, this having zero scent is a must. I was hoping to not really need to follow up with a moisturizer and didn't the first week of use or so, but seem to need a little moisturizer now. May look into getting one of the oils to use for that purpose. I will say, this jar should last a long time. A little goes a long way. It removes what little makeup I wear pretty well. It takes way too long to remove my Waterproof mascara, which results in rubbing the tender skin around my eyes far longer than I'm comfortable doing. The texture is thick and doesn't glide across my skin nicely. This is the first cleansing balm I've ever used that actually tugs my skin when I'm applying and massaging it in. It takes a lot to cover my face, so the tub goes quickly considering it's an oil/wax-based product. The scent is calming... Smells like a combination of lavender, eucalyptus and citrus. The scent itself doesn't seem to irritate my eyes, though the excessive rubbing to remove my mascara does. I usually wear Waterproof mascara and I need a cleansing balm that can melt it away without much hassle. Unfortunately, this balm doesn't do that. The fragrance is great you feel like you're in a spa but it was very strong for my sensitive dry skin so I returned it for the naked version and so much better!!!! I no longer get any reaction and it does a good job at removing my makeup ! Took off one star because it is very expensive almost $70.
