I noticed I had dry itchy scalp. I went to my local Ulta. The associate was super helpful and showed me the nioxin brand and the Paul Mitchell tea tree line to treat dry itchy scalp. Head and shoulders works, however it straps my hair of moisture, and I get really bad static in my hair from it. I purchased the full size of the nioxin brand, and the travel size of the tea tree for colored hair (orange label). I purchased the travel size so I did not have to commit to a full size if it did not work. The scent is a little too woodsy for me as I am sensitive to scents, so keep that in mind when purchasing. I immediately went home and washed my hair. My scalp IMMEDIATELY stopped itching, and I was able to go 4 days between blow outs, and my scalp was still not itchy. My hair also blow dried beautifully, it did not feel dry at all. A few tips I can share: - I used a small size for the top and sides of my hair, shampooed it, than used another small size for the back of my head. That seemed to help with the itch. - I followed it up with a color shampoo from rene furter, and used OUAI hair mask as the conditioner. -To blow dry, I used paul Mitchell skinny serum and the keratin leave in conditioning spray from biolage. I wanted to add that as maybe that helped keep some of the moisture in my hair. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, and start out with the sample size to make sure it works for your hair. I know ulta has a pretty good return policy, however they have given me a hard time in the past about returning used product. I am considering taking back the nioxin and purchasing the full size of the tea tree shampoo!!
I overall would recommend this shampoo UNLESS you have a history of sensitive skin. Maybe get a sample or travel size before committing to a larger container. Originally, I bought the shampoo/conditioner at my local salon but bought it a second time from Ulta because it was a few dollars cheaper. I really liked it. It smells great and the tingling sensation is nice especially in the summer when it's hot outside. Sadly, it seems that I can't use it anymore. For a while, I was using a different shampoo just to get through my travel size trial shampoos and didn't really realize my scalp wasn't itchy. When I got through them, I switched back to my full size bottle of this and I realized that it was what had been causing my long-standing scalp irritation! I originally started using this shampoo in the last few months of 2020. Within a day after using it again, my scalp was super itchy (it felt like I had fleas or something!!!!) and covered in painful little pimples! I used it a second time to be sure and yup, that's what caused them. I'm a few days out from the second use now and, while my scalp is still a bit itchy, there aren't painful little pimples anymore.

I usually don't use these for color treated hair shampoos. Don't like the way my hair feels after. But I like this brand. I'll probably give this to my sister.

Using this product feels like rubbing menthol on my scalp. It creates a cold burning feeling, which I find incredibly uncomfortable. I felt burning on my face as well from using this product. It made me feel kind of cold, which is not what I'm looking for when I'm taking a relaxing shower. As a result, I ended up using much hotter water than I normally would. I wasn't really a fan of the smell, either. However, my hair was smooth and less frizzy after using this product.

I wish people who state that sulfates are bad for your hair and strip hair color were actually educated on the subject. As a cosmetic chemist, I will tell you this is simply not true or factual. The whole sulfate-free movement came about by the inventor of Pureology hair care as a genius marketing ploy. Don't fall for misinformation, do your research. This is great product for hot summer hair washing! Makes your scalp feel so fresh and clean! The sulfates in this product are quite gentle yet effective. Use without fear and believing the fear mongers!!!! :)

I did not realize that Paul Mitchel had a special color shampoo. I am so glad to have discovered it! My hair has never felt so healthy, thick, and manageable! The color seems to last longer too.

I have pretty bad eczema and one of my worst flair up spots is my scalp. Literally nothing else works as well as this to minimize flare ups without smelling absolutely terrible or being ridiculously expensive. Plus, if I do have a flare up the mint is very soothing.

The wonderfully refreshing tingle this gives feels absolutely amazing during a migraine hangover (fellow sufferers, you know what I'm talking about). However, I liked the results so much I started using it regularly. Husband says my hair "glistens" and I'm not as oily as quickly. I don't color my hair but I am in the elements a lot and I like the protective properties this provides. Plus, the Special Color is my favorite scent out of all the tea tree products. This is now a must have for me.

My hair dresser recommended this shampoo as I was struggling with a dry scalp. I have vivid hair coloring (Pulp Riot) and this does not affect it at all! Definitely leaves my scalp feeling clean and does not dry me out.

This shampoo has sulfates in it which makes it NOT color safe. I have red hair and used this once before I realized it- stupid me, now I have faded hair. DO NOT use this on colored hair, especially reds!

I read another review that was like my experience, so I wanted to leave mine to corroborate it. I have dark blonde, highlighted, OILY hair. I was shocked at how long I can go between washes (up to 3 days, with a little help from dry shampoo) when I switched from the regular tea tree shampoo to this one. My stylist also comments on how long my color has been lasting! Th smell is strong-very peppermint-y and it's not fun to get it in your eyes. But it's worth it. Buy it.

I'm not sure what Paul Mitchell thinks they are trying to pull with this, but this is NOT a shampoo for colored hair. The 2nd and 3rd ingredients are: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate = So claiming this is sulfate free is a LIE. Claiming this is safe for colored hair is a LIE. Do NOT use this unless you want your hair to be stripped of color.

It cleaned my scalp but the rest of my hair didn't lather or clean, it stripped my hair so far :( and the smell is more like a hint of car oil, the price is harsh for what it does

The shampoo and conditioner duo is amazing!!!!! I've tried the lavender tea tree before and loved that but lately I've been having an itchy scalp. I have thick color treated hair that needs an extra moisture boost. I love how this makes my scalp feel. It also moisturizes so well and smells great. I'm making the switch from redken.

I upgraded my Head and Shoulders to this shampoo to make sure I didn't get dry scalp. I've been using it for more than 6 months and my scalp is so healthy. I read other reviews saying it doesn't lather well. I've always shampooed twice, using a small amount on my scalp only initially, rinsing and washing again and with this method, it lathers up extremely well the 2nd time around. I love the clean feeling and smell.

I've been using it every single day for a week. So far, very good; but I also need to put the same line conditioner, which is also very good, in order to have a really silky manageable hair.

I use the brand often but thought I'd try this tea tree color safe and it works like a charm- I like the tingling feeling from tea tree- as it makes a healthy scalp from the toxins I put in - seeps out on skin and healthy scalp is awesome

I really love this product. It does what it says it will do. I like the cooling tingly sensation it's gives you. It's really helps cut down on the oilyness my hair has and makes me feel clean. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes!

Great for cleaning my oily scalp while protecting my hair color. Have I mentioned how good it smells?
