I wasn't excessively stretching them, just put them between my fingers and it snapped apart. I wasn't going to leave a bad review until I got a rash that won't go away. I wore one elastic around my wrist for a whole day and it left a rash. My hair is not thick, it's very fine, and when I use these they tend to slide off/around and my hair becomes loose. The last ones I bought were more like a stretchy cloth like material and I had no trouble with them holding my hair, even when I sleep in them.
