All the liners go inside my eyes and irritate them. This one is gentle to my eyes. I'm using the cosmetic sharpener from Nyx.
I bought this product a month ago and was very excited to see it last all day, didn't smudge, but I could use it with other products. Until the tip wore down. I know how to sharpen a pencil, which this essentially is. The plastic casing around the color is too brittle, I spent 20 minutes this morning cleaning up the casing that shattered all over my dressing room and on to my blouse. In the bathroom to clean up the mess I had to SCRUB my hands to get the liner color off my fingers, which then left my bathroom sink stained. Will anything be done about this? I get it, first world problems...but an element of this product is terrible. I believe that those that haven't complained may have not have tried to sharpen the product yet.

I have good news for users of this product. I, too, loved it initially--until it had to be sharpened. NOTHING worked--not even my BEST sharpener. There is a pesky plastic rim around the pencil point that won't let the pencil be sharpened. HORRIBLE design! And, yes, a real waste of money and time in the morning. I was out doing some grocery shopping and happened to browse the store's makeup aisle. I found Revlon's Universal Points Sharpener and ouila! It worked! It sharpens BOTH wooden and plastic pencils. I comes with two different size holes that actually accommodate three sizes. The large one has a "Pullout Ring" that lets you sharpen a crayon-type pencil. So now I can use my L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Pencil again--and one from another company that also produced a beautiful liner with a terrible design (made a super mess when I went to sharpen it and most of it went into the sharpener--not my eye lid!). L'OREAL would do well to copy this sharpener...
PS; the only reason I gave it 2 stars was that I was (finally) able to sharpen it--albeit with another company's product.

I have purchased this eyeliner for years and have loved it. Unfortunately I found more recently that I was having a difficult time sharpening it, causing a mess as well as sharp pieces that have almost caused damage to my eye. Thinking that it was my sharpener, I purchased a new one, then another new very expensive one, each as ineffective as the last. My attempts to get a usable amount of product can take several min each day with much of the liner breaking off leaving very sharp edges where I have to try again. I thought it was my age effecting my sharpening skills, however, a quick Google search eased my concerns as the overwhelming sentiment regarding this product now matches mine. I hope that all of these reviews will affect change as I am not looking forward to having to find a new liner with the staying power as this, but I can no longer waste my money hoping the next one I buy will be better.

Y'all, this is a regular pencil not a mechanical one. It sharpens as easily as any other pencil I've had. The little black thing on the bottom is not for sharpening! Anyway, five stars because this is the first dark brown eye pencil, I've ever purchased that didn't smudge or run on me. I bought it on a whim, and I'm so glad I did, it's the best for my oily lids!

Very disappointing for a L'Oreal product. Eyeliner pencil goes on very unevenly, won't blend, and difficult to sharpen as the crayon continues to break..

The color is beautiful, and it stays all day. However, as many others have mentioned, it appears to be a twist up pencil - but it is NOT. The company says that you can sharpen it, but it doesn't really work. I had to throw it out after a month. I wish I had read the reviews first!!!!

Doesn't glide on at all, can barely get anything close to black when using it.

I have been purchasing the infallible pro last liner In black for a number of years. I too am frustrated with the exterior casing. but let me start by saying I love the liner itself. I continue to buy the liner because it does last. it is waterproof, run smooth and looks phenomenal. The negative side is that it cannot be sharpened. I've tried so many different sharpeners to watch them fail. ruined so many they they had to be thrown away. I realized it was a losing situation so I tried my best to use the liner and just continue to buy a new one Which doesn't make sense. It is wasteful. here I am throwing out these unused liners because they're unable to sharpen and let me add what a mess as it gets all over your hands. What a disaster. To that end, I do love the liner and I'm hoping that you could come up with a better way To put this liner into a material that's easier to sharpen. appreciate your help and feedback. Very disappointed

I bought the blue color and loved it until it was worn down and I had to sharpen it. I bought the special sharpener, which couldn't cut through the plastic, and even tried my old-fashioned pencil sharpener, which chewed it up, and the "lead" broke into pieces. Tried using a knife to sharpen the plastic. Gave up and gave it to the grandkids to try in their coloring book.

Used about one week, impossible to sharpen, complete waste of money. No more Maybelline for me.

I expect more from L'Oreal! I like the color ( dark grey) but so frustrating! You cannot sharpen it so therefore it's been a waste of money. I've tried different sharpeners - would like my money back

This product is a sham! I used this three times and needed to twist the pencil shaft up to get more color yet there is no twist advance on the liner stick, and the the sharpener that you suggest in previous comments does not work because the top of the stick where the liner stick comes out is made of plastic not wood! You should remove this product from your lineup, this lack of oversight gets customers very angry and they will think twice about buying and trusting L'Oreal products in the future. I would like to add that your canned responses to the complaints on this particular product is not at all helpful!

Ok all these reviews are insane! YOU JUST HAVE TO SHARPEN THE PRNCIL!!! Get a nice eyeliner pencil sharpener and it will be great! You cant twist to get more product as it is a PENCIL! It lasts a deciently long time ive had mine for a fee months with still plenty of product. The liner itself goes on smooth and stays put! Its an amazing liner for the price. Please just sharpen tbe pencil😭

I JUST opened it and lightly used it and the tip BROKE!!!! What the heck?!

Product is great...it is the ability to SHARPEN the pencil...it sucks! After reading some of the other reviews, they said to use the Loreal dual point sharpener, which I tried to no avail and, as an artist, I have an expensive sharpener (new) for my art items, and it was unable to cut through the material surrounding the colored material!

Love the long lasting part, but you can't sharpen it once it dulls. I've tried 3 different sharpeners. I've kept the pencil in the frig to solidify the soft point-didn't help. I even froze it-didn't help. The tip just falls out when you try to sharpen it!

I love the product and the colors, but the pencil is plastic and won't sharpen. The eyeliner is useless.

I'm shocked at the amount of people who havent figured out that the eyeliner needs to be sharpened and are giving it terrible reviews. It's like that scene from Zoolander "the files are in the computer"
Jaymee2178 from Ga
Impossible to sharpen. Website said to sharpen with any pencil sharpener, but the plastic coating is too hard…it keeps breaking my sharpeners
Carol from undisclosed
It is impossible to advance the pencil. After a few applications, it was useless. What an expensive mistake this was!

Broke during the first use. I was so excited to try a green eyeliner so I finally decided on L'Oréal's after viewing a different department store brand that was $$$. L'Oréal's Fit the budget. And now I know why.
