I originally tried Sumo-tech out about a year ago after a buddy recommended it, but I ended up throwing it out due the hard, clumpy consistency of the product, which made it very hard to work through my straight, thick, medium length hair. Since then I've moved to the other "semi" products, semi-sumo and sumo-wax. Both are great however I find them both to be a little greasy. I decided to give sumo-tech another chance after hearing someone else saying they got a "bad" jar before, (maybe the one I had sat for to long at the salon) and I couldn't be happier with the product. It is a mix between a cream and wax, has great hold, more of a matte finish than the other products and no grease whatsoever, best part is my hair still feels clean the next day. Overall, A+. Would recommend purchasing through Bb directly to ensure a fresh product.
I have used this product for years. This product is sensitive to "over working" and "temperature". I have ordered 2 or 3 times over the last year online when my salon is out of stock. On 2 of those instances the product arrived hard and unusable. I credit that to 2 things... 1 . The change in the material used for the lid... It used to be tin .. Now plastic. Second, there are no steps taken to protect the product during shipping. Hence, product leaves, melts, re-hardens and is un- usable..... Soooooooo frustrating

This is not the same Sumotech that long time users know and love. The hold is not great and you have to use very little or else it'll make your hair look greasy. I have no idea why they would change such a great formula.

Great styling paste. Medium hold, doesn't make the hair stiff but good hold. Nice scent.

Decided to try this at the referral of my friend. I was immediately taken aback by the tiny size of the jar and amount of product for the price tag. The hold is also very weak. After I applied it on my hair, it didn't really do much to style it…plus the package box it ships with is ridiculously oversized and unnecessarily big. Returning ASAP

Love the matte finish. Its water solubility. Flexible hold. This product is easy to use. A little goes a long way. I have very short hair and its gives it a finished look with little effort.

How in the world do companies take favorite amazing products and turn them into complete trash!?? This is not the same as loyal fans will tell you. So disappointed! Long time user with no idea what to turn to. An iconic product absolutely ruined! Please bring it back!!

I was looking for a product to add texture to my fine hair to give it the manageability that day after shampoo gives. Doesn't achieve that. I even told the sales person what I was looking for and she recommended this product. I have used this brand before and found it worked well, just not this product.

The best hair gel

After I dry my hair with dryer, I use a pea size amount, rub it onto my fingers and spread it through my hair. Finger style it and then spray. Looks great all day. Also love the travel size to keep in my purse for those days I am out from morning to night and want to touch up my hair.

This is the best for my short hair. Holds the waves and style on top, gives the short sides and back texture and direction

Love the smell and that it doesn't make my fine hair greasy. I loved the old formula but now it is way too soft to have any hold. I used to have to scrap my fingernail in the container to get some of the product but now I can just scoop it out with my finger. I want the hold more firm molding product. I now prefer the gel just because it holds better for a more scrunchy look.

This is not the same formula and it is very disappointing, I really liked the old formula I don't know why they decided to change it

I've used Sumo from day 1 - I thought I purchased a bad one from on line - then I found out B&B changed the product w/o saying anything. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK. THE ORIGINAL WAS WAY BETTER.

I've been using Sumotech for a long time to control my short wavy hair. It had the perfect amount of hold. Whatever they did to the formula has ruined it. It's much softer and feels like a cream. My hair looks terrible pretty much everyday that I use it. Unfortunately, it's time to search for a new go-to product.

I've been using this product for nearly 10 years. I loved it-amazing unique smell, held my hairstyle throughout even the muggiest of summer days. Then easily washed off of hand and hair. The new formula that I just picked up is garbage. It smells cheap, the texture is much goopier, and barely holds through lunch time (in the middle of winter). Bring back the old formula, or else I'm switching products.

My husband has been using this product for 10+ years and all of a sudden a formula change. Glad to see other similar reviews, as I thought maybe we got a bad batch. We will be changing products, its a pain to ship it in anyway as I don't go to a Bumble salon anyway and the customer service on this site is lacking.

I've used sumotech for well over ten years. I want to say 20 years, but I don't really remember — that's how long it's been. It is key to my hair regime and I have loved it. But the latest jar I just got has a completely different formula. I want sticky and tacky and non-greasy. I do not want creamy! PLEASE change sumotech back to the original formula. In the interim I'm going to have to look elsewhere for a shaping finishing product for my fine hair.

I have been using this product for at least 10 years. It used to be a very thick cream that had a nice fresh scent. I just purchased a new jar this week and to my disappointment, have found that it is no longer the same. It's much softer and even has a different scent. Very disappointed and will no longer be purchasing. Why change a good thing?

I have used this product for at least 15 years. I will not be using it anymore. I'm not sure why the change in formula but I'm far from happy. I would typically use this product and my hair looked as if I had just done it at the end of the day. Seems like my hair is just drinks it and by the time I'm at work it's a mess. I'm not buying it anymore unless you return to the original formula. Bad move.

I used Sumotech for approximately 15 years, it was the best on the market. They recently changed the formula to something creamier and more liquid -- it takes way more to achieve a similar hold (I probably went through a can TWICE as fast as before, therefore it is twice as expensive). I say "similar hold" because in using a lot more it is still not as good of a hold. Please let me know if you change the formula back Bumble, until then I'm using something else.

This product does not work as well for me as Sumoclay. It leaves my hair looking shinier than I prefer.

My 10 yo daughter uses on her pixie cut. Easy for her to use and no overwhelming scent. Gives the right amount of hold and texture that she wants. She's only 10 so of course we tried the cheaper drugstore stuff but they don't work.

I have used this product for years, it works great for my hair. I apply after I have curled my hair and I only use a pick to style. It gives my hair body and stays for many hours. Unfortunately it is being discontinued.

I have fine, color treated short pixie hair. Sumotech is perfect for taming and shaping without weighing it down.
