It was super easy to apply and even for my fiancé that did my back for me. It's such a natural tan and the smell is pleasant-not too strong and doesn't linger!Most Helpful Critical ReviewOk...but not enough colorI purchased this product after seeing the beautiful color that it gave someone I knew. I am a long time self tanner user, so I know what to look for when buying one. This one makes your skin really soft and smooth and the smell isn't horrible. The closer you get to the 8 hour mark, the more you can smell the DHA. After using it the first time, i did not notice much color at all. I was very confused because this has never happened with a self tanner before. I used it again the next day and after two applications, I would say I now have a medium glow. This product may work well for very fair skinned people, but it is not dark enough for someone who has an olive tone. Tanners pull too green or too orange on me this is the most perfect color. Im pale olive with some green/neutral undertones and if i scratch my skin ill get pink quickly. I scar easily. I have bright red stretchmarks and this blends them. It smells good.. fake tanner but not like "corn nuts" no transfer. The color guard doesnt just wash off i feel like im more golden after a shoewer and lasts for a full 6 days. I apply every other night (sorry bf). Its not sticky especially in summer. I can go to work wearing it and be fine. I apply with latex free gloves and i use venetian tan on my handa and feet with a mit and lotion. I use Salty Face for my face every other night. I am naturally medium/dark/olive-toned, so the only con for me is that I wish this made me a tad bit darker, but honestly the color is beautiful. It gives me a fresh-from-the-beach glow (after exfoliating well and moisturizing) and it fades evenly after about 5 days. Very easy to apply and I actually like the scent. The self-tan smell starts to form a couple of hours after application, but not too strongly and the smell goes completely away after showering. I will buy this again because it's so convenient and a beautiful color even on my already naturally tan skin- I imagine for fair skin folks this would give a pretty deep tan. It has a subtle candyish scent which goes away after a day or so. The color is a beautiful, natural medium olive shade, not orange at all! To prolong this tan, I use the bondi sands gradual tan milk after my shower. I've been self tanning for years and years and I can't believe I didn't try it sooner. I doubted a cosmetics company's ability to deliver a good self tan and assumed it was just a cash grab from the brand (sorry, Tarte). But I needn't worry because this stuff is amazing and exactly the kind of tan I love so much these days. The pros (and there are many) 1. Lotion - like consistency makes it easy to spread evenly. I use my bare hands and wash between sections to avoid tanned palms and this works out great. Also allows me to use less product by skipping using a mitt that absorbs. 2. The color! Perfect neutral tone for my light-medium, very olive skin. It has a purple-brown base and does not look orange on me whatsoever, even after it develops. This is the best color for my olive skin I think I've found in a tanner (green based tans accentuates too much of the green in my skin and make me look somewhat sickly. Red bases can work but they alter my natural undertone too much and often end up making me look like I'm covered in body foundation. Orange is never good for obvious reasons). 3. The depth. Also perfect for my complexion. I used to want the darkest tan I could possibly find, but after looking back on pictures I realize how unnatural those tans looked on me (Sosu Dripping Gold, Loving Tan Ultra Dark, Tanceuticals Ultra Dark). With one coat this legit makes me look like I've been out in the sun working on my tan. It is a perfect medium tan, which is what I want being of medium complexion (light - medium in winter). 4. The fade. It slowly leaves my skin over the course of the week, never ever leaving behind dry, crusty looking patches. I think this is thanks to the moisturizing formula. 5. Doesn't clog pores so I can use it on my face and don't need a seperate face tanner. 6. Very little to no DHA smell after showering. 7. Hands and feet take the tan very nicely. No patchiness or unevenness or crazy looking knuckles. 8. I've used it twice now over my whole body (One coat each time) and the bottle still feels very much full. A little goes a long way esp. when skipping the mit and just using bare hands to rub it in Cons: So far I haven't found one which is crazy because I am so picky about self tanners and have never found a truly perfect one. I could be nit picky and wish the depth of color lasted a little longer, but there are trade offs and I feel like I'd lose some of its other qualities if that were the case.Best color!5Kat from MTBest mitt!! I do a fairly light application. Feels a bit tacky for an hour or two but that goes away. Lasts about 5-6 days for me. One time I thought I was breaking out in an allergic reaction on my chest/neck but no problems since, I think my skin was too warm from the shower so now I make sure I'm cooled off first.
