This color could not be more natural looking. I was previously coloring my hair a light brown/ash blonde and wanted to go a medium/light brown copper red. The preview photos of this color are all very different. I was hoping to turn out on the lighter side, but mine came out pretty dark, but it is ok because the color is excellent. It is hard to describe. Not too auburn, not too copper, not too brown. Just perfect! I was amazed at how the product had absolutely no scent what-so-ever! Finally nice to color my hair and not get a headache from the fumes. I have box colored my hair forever. For the last 2 years or so I was ordering from eSalon (they are really great too), but I always saw adds for this product and figured I'd switch it up. I could not be happier with the color. The price is the same as eSalon. The only potential draw back for this product is that the formula was not very liquid. I alway used cream formulas, but this one was different. It almost felt powdery when applying. It is nice because it doesn't drip and I got way fewer stains around my ears, but I was really close to running out of product. My hair is just shorter than shoulder length and I feel I should not have had to buy the extra bottle for long hair. But I was very fearful that I did not get the color worked in everywhere because it was so dry like and not going very far. I used every last drop and luckily I did not have any missed spots. But I did see a couple reviews where people complained their hair turned out patchy. I can see how this can happen. If you are in doubt about length, order the second bottle. You will be glad you did. Or just be very careful to evenly apply and work into your hair so you don't get dry patches. One thing I noticed (and like) is that after I washed and dried my hair, the towel did not have any staining at all. Usually, even if I spend forever rinsing out the product, when I dry my hair I get the slightest color on the towel. Not a big deal, but my pillow cases also get it after I color. And I bet it won't happen this time because the towel didn't have a hint of color on it! I will most definitely order again, but may go one shade lighter!
My color quiz matched me with lighter shades of blonde but I opted for this (it was still one of my matches) because it was darker and I am always afraid of going too light at home. According to the swatch online it did not look too far off of my natural color so I didn't think anything would go wrong. I normally get highlights because I have a lot of hair it takes 4+ hours plus quite a bit of money to get my hair done at the salon so I decided to try just coloring my hair at home from now on. BIG MISTAKE. This color turned my hair orange. After talking with the color care crew, I will be receiving the crema gloss to hopefully remove the orange but I am not optimistic. Waste of money and time and now I have to go to the salon to have my hair fixed anyway. 2 stars because the customer service at this company is fantastic and although my hair looks terrible, it is very soft and feels amazing.

I wouldn't use this product again if it were given to me for free. My hair was so rough and dry after using, then started getting clumps of hair with every wash and brush. My hair is now short because I had to cut it to remove the breakage.

Im 36, and have a bunch of thick grays streaked throughout my hair. I had ordered Madison Reed hair dye a few times to cover my grays. The first day, it looked fine, but after literally one wash, my grays had completely returned. The initial color looked great, but I won't be ordering again. I have mobility issues, and dying my hair is extremely difficult, so I need something that lasts.

I've been a fan of Madison Reed hair color kit for a number of years! The main reason is that I need a more gentle kind of coloring formula due to developed allergy, over time, to store bought. Madison Reed is the answer for me! It's not without very mild itching for a few days but it's 95% better than store bought. You get a box with absolutely everything you need to do the job!

I used Sardinia Red on my virgin light brown/ dark blond hair. My hair is DARK burgundy! It looks basically extremely dark brown but, in the sun, has a burgundy color. It's terrible. My hair is ruined. Now, I have to bleach it.

bought this because it's my normal go to hair color not the brand just the color. It literally did not take in some spots. Fried my hair in other spots and after 35 minutes started to blister. The strand test came out fine but applied to hair it did not. So right now I have an unholy mess but I'll make it work.

Having dark brown hair with lighter highlights that grew out I wanted something reddish/coppery to pull more on my old highlights. I used the 6NCG Medium Golden Red kit on my whole head (I have long thick hair) and still had a ton of product left in the bottle after using it completely from roots to end. I wasn't expecting a dramatic change on my dark brown hair but it pulled really nice reddish color and I love it! The kit was super easy to use and comes with everything you need. My hair came out softer than it was before.

I purchased sardinia red hoping for an auburn shade, like pictured on the box. My hair was lightened specifically to go this shade, and it ended up coming out DARK BROWN. Darker than my hair was BEFORE I lightened it!

Loved the color. It turned out just like the box. The kit made it so easy and there was no ammonia smell. Definitely will rebuy!

This dye made my hair fall out like crazy, causing a baseball sized bald spot on my head. Also seriously damaged my scalp. Please read in to ethanolamine, it's what this awful company uses instead of ammonia but is 80% morw corrosive and can cause birth defects. This company is absolute garbage, do not use.

Great product, a little bit darker than the box. I'm going to use this product again, just in a lighter shade.

I love Madison Reed hair color kits! This particular color, Lucca, is a gorgeous golden medium brown. Remember if you're going from a very light color to this, you'll need a filler. Something like their Miele gloss will work nicely. Color applies easily. Everything you need is included in the kit. 2 pairs of gloves and a cap for better processing, barrier cream, a wipe if you happen to get it all over your skin, plus their shampoo and conditioner. Does it cost more than your typical box color from the drugstore? Yes. It's also superior in a lot of ways. Madison Reed doesn't and never has, dried out my hair, doesn't make my head itch. Boxed drugstore brands trash my hair. Ingredients are superior in this product. You won't find these ingredients in a drugstore brand. If you love your hair, use Madison Reed. Gray coverage is fantastic. If you already have damaged hair, you don't want a permanent hair color. You need to use something with a 10 volume developer.

I have been using Madison Reed for about 1 1/2 years. I love this product. It covers my gray and it makes my hair feel wonderful. I have quite a few allergies and I can use this product with burning. stinging or scalp breakout of skin, because of being harsh. I will be continuing to use these products. Oh, I forgot to say, I used salon colorist before and I suffered greatly from the burning etc. of there color products.

The hair color I used had a nasty odor and it was hard to remove from my skin. I decided to try Madison Reed. It was easy to use, no nasty smell and easy to get off my skin. I was happy with the results but I left it on too long - too dark.

Every time I use this product my hair feels more full, shining, looks healthy

The package contains everything you need to color your hair and more. I love that it is allergen friendly and ammonia free.

Just adding a photo to my review from 08/29/23 of the most recent shade I used, Tuscany Brown 6NGV. Photo taken after washing and styling directly after dyeing. (The app wouldn't let me add a photo)
I have been using Madison Reed color for about 2 years now. I did not dye my hair previous to using it. I have natural medium brown hair and after I had my kids the grays started to show in patches. So I decided it was time cover them up. I selected a color that was closest to my natural color, level 6 according to the quiz. The process was very easy and the result was beautiful even color. The reason for 4 stars is that the end result color is much darker than portrayed on the color chart. I have tried level 6NAC, 6.5NGV, 6.5NNA and 6.5NNN. There is really very little to no variation between the four colors I tried. They all end up looking like very dark brown. Even after washing multiple times my hair is dark brown. If you are looking for a true medium brown I recommend starting in level 7 which is what I plan to try next. Despite the color being darker than I wanted it is still very beauitiful.

The color didn't make a difference to my hair. My hair is severely damaged and I've done conditioning treatments and still can't get my hair to how it used to be before coloring it with this brand. Over priced. Rather go to Sally then buy this again

I love how it left my hair soft and covered up my old hair color

This is hands down the best at home hair color. It left my hair shiny, soft and the color is gorgeous. Will never buy another brand again. They put a lot of thought into the kit itself with 2 pairs of gloves, the cap and the barrier cream and cleansing wipe. LOVE

This color did not cover my grays at all. Extremely disappointed that i wasted money on it.
