My hair was really dark brown, almost black. I've been wanting to dye it light brown for months but was so afraid of my hair breaking off (it happened before). I was skeptical bc this is for blondes but I know the undertone color of my hair is light brown so I wasn't worried about it turning red or orange. (I would suggest everyone take a piece of their hair, spray it with peroxide and put it in the sun. That is your hairs undertone so the sun bum will fade it to that color.)I knew my undertone was light brown bc my ends were always a lighter brown compared to my dark roots. I've used the sun bum three times so far, just spraying it in after I shower. My hair is turning into a beautiful light brown color. I absolutely love it. My hair is really dark naturally so so far it's not THAT noticeable all over my head. Someone would notice it in the light but I know with even three more applications I'll have my desired color. There is no damage and my hair is still soft. The color is the perfect brown for my skin tone. I'm going to continue using it. This is great to lighten hair with no damage.
I bought this product to enhance my natural highlights. I do have medium brown hair so I was weary about my hair turning red because of some of the reviews I read. After using it a little bit during the summer I was pretty happy with my results and my natural highlights were even lighter. The following summer however, I decided to start using it again ( I only used it in the summer because I wanted to have lot's of sunlight on my hair to lessen the chance of it becoming orange). I decided I was going to spray more each time I washed my hair. While it looked nice for the time being, as my hair began to grow out I noticed that the spray had turned my hair a reddish, orange color. I knew that that was a risk because of dark my hair was. When my roots had grown out quite a bit, I decided to go to the hairdressers and get a semi permanent dye. I found that this worked very well for the time the dye stayed in and after three weeks the orange tone had faded a bit. I will probably go on to permanently dye my hair back to it's natural color I would say in conclusion that this product works well but only for light haired individuals. For people like myself who have medium hair, this is a product you should use with cation as you may not be satisfied with the results

I have naturally blonde hair that was looking a little dark/brassy late this spring. So, starting in May I started using this product when I would spend all day outside (so maybe 10 times a month on average?). It is now October, and I can vouch that this product DOES work, and works amazingly! You'll notice a difference after just a few days of use, and not even by the end of your first month other people will notice a difference too. Just last week my sister asked me if I had my hair dyed, because it's gone several shades lighter. I'm really happy I get to have my hair be the perfect color, without any expensive and short term dyeing/professional treatment. The only thing I would say is possibly negative about this product is that you should be weary of how often you're using it. I haven't experienced this personally, but it seems like it would dry your hair out if you used it more than once every couple of days. I used the Redken acidic bonding leave-in treatment alongside using this product, so I didn't notice any damage. And the lightening is permanent, so make sure you don't overdo it if you're aiming for a specific shade of blonde. The last thing is that you should be certain to get all your hair evenly. Some days I missed the roots of my hair, and now my roots are slightly darker than the rest of my hair.

Used with Sun Bum toner, this brought out my natural blonde and made it so much lighter without making it frail. The blonde really comes out in the sun, definitely recommend for days you're wearing your hair down and soaking up the sun - it makes the toner work even more!

This stuff is INCREDIBLE! It WORKS. I was spending $200 every 2-3 months to get my roots touched up but now this is all I need. 2 months & 2 bottles used and these are the results I got, I'm stunned! Can't wait to see how it looks in 2 more months!

Smells great! Too soon to tell if it works.

So I apply this when my hair is about 80-90% dry. I take a shower and towel dry my hair, and then I let it air dry for about 45 minutes or so until it's a bit more dry but not completely. Then I'll take the sun bum spray and spray it allll over my hair until it's completely damp/wet again but not dripping wet. Then I will blow dry it! I'm from Texas so sitting out in the sun in the summer is just NOT an option as I'd probably die of heat exhaustion lol. I have noticed that it does slightly dry my hair, but after I'm done blow drying I just apply some argan oil. I used to heavily bleach my hair and this is NO WHERE near the damage that bleach causes. I also have not dyed my hair in probably about a year and a half. So if you dye your hair a lot your results and dryness might differ. I only use it 2x a week max. Probably every 3-4 days. These results are after going through an entire bottle over the course of 3 weeks. I have waist length hair so I have go use a lot! The undertones in my hair are red, so I was aware this would turn me more "ginger" than blonde, which is exactly what I was going for. I love love LOVE the results. Just know if you have any natural red in your hair it will probably bring that out more. Although you could use blue/purple shampoo to get rid of it if you don't like it. I on the other hand love red hair sooo much!

I have natural medium/dirty blonde hair, that is 2c/3a curly. I have never used any dye, professional or otherwise on my hair. I use the Sun Bum hair lightener when I am outside in the sun and it has brought my hair to the light blonde color I want. My hair has a natural golden undertone so I have used the purple Sun Bum tone enhancer and it has helped give a more neutral blonde tone to my hair. The hair lightener has not made my hair brittle or dry, but keep in mind I do use several hydrating treatments on my natural curly dry hair anyways. Be cautious and evaluate your hair type when making product decisions, but I will continue to use this product and give it 5 stars!

This product is designed for blonde hair. It is hydrogen peroxide based, which is a bleach. Use as you would a very weak bleach. Ultimately, a light hand over multiple applications refreshes my summer highlights and keeps them around all year!

I was skeptical a spray could do much for my colored blonde hair, but within 10 minutes I can already see if brightening my tips and ends!! I'm sold and would rather spend my money on this and the Sun Bum toner than purple shampoo that doesn't do anything but dry my hair out.

So every 4 years I dye my hair extremely dark lol I'm naturally a dirty blonde with natural bleach blonde highlights …. I haven't colored my hair in 6 months prior …. So pms panic my roots started to come in …. Never do your hair on your period I panic used color remover ect… avoiding bleach at all costs …. I have natural textured hair so I didn't want to break it off …, so I toned it ….keeps getting more orange …. So I was like what about sun in … then I saw this …. So I bought it … before I went tanning … avoid your roots bc they will be hot especially if your hair is dyed ! I used it a few times …. It does work ! But whatever colors you have prior on your hair will come out …. My hair was orangy prior so id suggest a blue shampoo …. If your already blonde use purple …. If your hair is already damaged I wouldn't suggest this … the reviews saying it's breaking off your hair lol it's bleached and your just throwing hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice which is very acidic …. If you do I wouldn't brush until after washed and a deep conditioning! I have done many things to my hair and I've learned lol

i have red hair that looks brown unless I'm in the sunlight and highlights are so expensive. I use this in the sun and before i blow dry. It does make my hair a bit orangey but since i'm a redhead that's what i'm going for. It is drying though so i try to use a leave in conditioner everyday and deep condition a few times a week when i use it.

This product does lighten your hair, but it won't make your hair blonde- it'll make it orange. The color is permeant, I've dyed it 3 times and still can't get rid of the orange hue.

I think this is a great product to gradually lighten hair or touch up roots between appointments. However, you still need to tone your hair. If your hair is brassy, orange, etc, just tone it. You would need to do the same thing if you used legit bleach. When you bleach, the under tones of your hair come out, and for a lot of people that's yellow or orange (Myself included). Use a purple or blue based toner to get your hair to a more natural looking color. Also, don't keep this in your hair that long, it's peroxide, and that's damaging regardless of what the label says.

So I have to say I was a bit skeptical using this. I have light brown hair and didnt think I would see much of a difference, but I was wrong! I was spraying this on my ends and the front strips of my hair, but it seemed to lighten the whole thing. Many people have said it looks like I have lightened my hair! I try to make sure I am in the sun when I put it on, but even just spraying it and blow drying it seems to work. I am not bleach blonde, but if I keep using it, or use it all summer I think I would be pretty close! Will continue to use!

i get that this probably isn't the best for the health of your hair, but this product did wonders for me! i have pretty dark brown hair, but using this all summer got me really beautiful yellows (not orange) highlights that i easily tone with purple conditioner. i don't have breakage or brittle hair that other reviews have stated, so maybe it's just a difference in hair type/ health of your hair before. use it in moderation at first to test it, but this is a great alternative to $300 salon visits for me!

Not sure how I fell about this product yet. I haven't seen much of a difference in my hair, but I only used it twice. Will keep trying in hopes to see some lightening in my hair.
