This makes it perfect for minimalist and "no-makeup" makeup days. It gives a beautiful, natural-looking finish that nevertheless provides a comfortable blendable surface for powder face products (like blush, bronzer or highlighter). The range of shades is somewhat limited in comparison to full-coverage foundations, but it melts so seamlessly into the skin that it adjusts to match the wearer's tone. (I am very fair with very cool undertones, but Finland is plenty fair enough and its neutral undertones even out my own complexion and make it more friendly to all colors without looking unnatural.) Although the coverage is sheer, it does an excellent job evening out the complexion, minimizing the look of hyperpigmentation and blemishes. It's beautiful with just a light application but it can be layered and still looks natural and amazing. It's important to note that it is not a foundation, it's a tinted moisturizer, so it's not really meant to apply over a primer, which where I feel some of the negative reviewers went wrong with their application. However I did stipple it on with a brush, once, over Tatcha The Silk Canvas solid primer when I forgot to pack actual foundation for a wedding, and my face looked completely flawless! Probably would not have worked out if I used a rubbing or painting motion, though. I otherwise have only applied this product with freshly washed hands, after I complete my regular skincare routine (over my daily moisturizer), first working it in with sweeping motions; then patting firmly with my palms all over, and pressing it in with my fingers around my eyes, nose and mouth before it's completely absorbed. The finish is beyond seamless and just looks like good skin (even-toned and dewy). Again, its not foundation so it's not meant to completely cover imperfections (though it does have amazing pigmentation for this type of product), which is another way I think negative reviewers went wrong with their expectations. I've found it best to just lightly tap concealer where I want more coverage, then lightly dust the smallest amount of By Terry Hyaluronic Loose HydraPowder all over for oil control without any of the dryness/cakiness that other setting powders tend to create. If I want some oomph/color, I use Anastasia Brow Wiz, tap on Nars The Multiple in South Beach and Orgasm before dusting on the hydrapowder and apply Benefit 24-hr Brow Setter as a final step before I leave my house. No one ever asks me what makeup I use, they only ask how my skin always looks so good. I have very oily skin and this has never caused a single clogged pore or breakout. The times I've strayed and tried other products over the years, thinking newer formulas might be better, I've always come right back to this.
