I also don't like the "flat" look matte lipsticks give. I feel that they take away definition to the lips. But THESE lipsticks are amazing! They feel comfortable and moisturizing, they don't accentuate any dryness you might have on your lips, they don't look completely flat, and the colors are SO vibrant. I would say most of them you can definitely get true color pay off with just one swipe. A bit of a warning though, some of them do leave a quite vibrant stain behind on your lips and the stain doesn't look like the exact shade of lipstick you originally applied. Also, you will have to use a makeup remover to get the stain completely off your lips. Some people might see that as a good thing cause it says something about the color staying-power, and others might not like that. As far as shade description goes... Blushing Pop (on me) looked more brown and I couldn't really see any pink in it. Some people might not notice a difference, but Graffiti Pop and Rose Pop look VERY similar. Graffiti Pop had a bit more red, whereas Rose Pop has more pink. Shock Pop leaves an almost fluorescent pink stain behind. Cute Pop has more of a mauve look to it, definitely a favorite. Peony Pop is more of a mid-tone pink. Avant Garde Pop is definitely the darkest of all the shades. It's a beautiful vampy shade. I tried ALL of these shades, but I ended up keeping Rose Pop, Bold Pop, Peony Pop, Cute Pop, and Avant Garde Pop.Most Helpful Critical ReviewFirst Clinique DisappointmentI have been a longtime clinique customer and an avid red lipstick fan. I was SO excited when Clinique released their matte lipsticks and quickly bought Icon Pop. However, I have been sorely disappointed with the product. It is a nightmare to apply correctly, it bleeds and smudges unlike every other matte lipstick I've used, and it does not last more than an hour or two.
