This is my first time using any Maui Moisture product, but their Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask (for dry, damaged hair) has made such a fantastic impression on me that I'll definitely try their other products once my current hair stash gets low. I love trying different deep conditioners but held off using this one for months because I was having what I thought were great results with Shea Moisture's Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Treatment Masque, which really defined my natural, low porosity 4b/4c curls and helped with in-shower detangling. But after using this one, Shea Moisture has some serious competition, baby! At first, I didn't think I'd be super wowed as Maui Moisture's deep conditioner isn't quite as thick as Shea Moisture's. It has a creamy consistency that I thought might be better suited for someone who's not of African descent or doesn't have naturally coily hair. But I was so wrong...and delightfully so! After saturating my hair in product (I'm fairly heavy handed), I put on a shower cap and let the product do its thing for about 30 minutes while still in the shower. The instructions recommend 5 minutes or so, to which I say, "Pish Posh!" A 5-minute DC ain't gonna do nuthin but make me mad as I mentally calculate how much money I'm wasting as suds collect at my feet. After the half hour, I started to detangle with my wide-toothed shower comb and was shocked at how easily and quickly I was able to do so. I don't separate my hair in sections to wash because I ain't got that kinda time, so when I tell you that my comb nearly glided through my hair, that should let you know this DC is fairly magical. And the icing on the cake was that Maui Moisture's product didn't strip my hair as Shea Moisture's does. My hair felt well-moisturized and heavy/weighty in a good way, if that makes sense. I think the aloe leaf juice in this product is what did wonders for my hair. I only have 1 slight con for this product: it smells a little weird to me. Not in a bad way, though, it just has a weird citrusy smell. But maybe I'm spoiled because I'm used to Shea Moisture's Play-Doh scent (Mmmm...). Either way, if you have hair like mine, don't sleep on this product. Or, nevermind...maybe you should since that'll leave more for me! Maui MOISTURE Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask
I bought this around a month ago and used it every day for a week. My hair has been falling out in clumps since the fourth day of using. I have bleached hair that is damaged, the mask made the hair even weaker and my hair is now snapping just before the root and falling out. I haven't dyed my hair in 6 months and haven't changed anything else in terms of consumption or products used in my hair, so it is this product that is making my hair fall out. DO NOT USE. Avoid at ALL COSTS if you have bleached hair.

I wanted to love this shampoo but it unfortunately caused my forehead to break out real bad. After 1 use I had a zoo of pimples across my forehead. I further learned that jojoba oil and shea butter can cause acne on sensitive skin. So I guess partially my bad for not doing my research before…. ALSO random, but the products are SOO hard to get out of the bottles!

I have been using maui moisture for about 5 months and my hair went from shiny and healthy (even though I used hot tools once per week) to dull, rough, dry, itchy scalp (and no use of hot tools in these 5 to 6 months!). Do not use, it will ruin your hair. It does not nourish nor hydrate nor moisturize. All the contrary. I saw a lot of hair falling out. And I never saw my wavy curly hair bounce back to life. I didnt even finished the bottle, im half way through. It is affordable, and smells so good, it does detangle your hair, but I had chunks of hair in my hand every time I would use these products.

I have lightweight fine curls that are prone to dryness, I was out of my usual mask and wanted to try something new. Sad to say I did not like this. left my hair dryer than I started and impossible to detangle. would not buy again :(

This is horrible! Love the smell, that's it. I conditioned my hair three times in the shower thinking maybe I didn't use enough, it made my hair dry and tangly. It was impossible to comb through and felt awful.

I'm obsessed with this hair mask. I was using living proof hair mask and I got this to try because I really like their shampoo and conditioner. I will never buy living proof again. My partner and I both have very long hair and we both love it. It smells good, easy to wash out & easy to use, makes our hair so silky smooth & shiny and the price is right. The consistency is thick, which I love! I also love that it doesn't make my hair feel like someone dumped a gallon of grease all over it like so many other masks I have tried. It also doesn't feel like it builds up on my hair. I'm so glad I randomly decided to give this product a try. Would give 100 stars if I could.

I have been using this off and on for the past two years. It is my go to for my naturally coarse, dry hair. I have 2C hair and I love it. Always leaves my hair soft and smooth.

I have attempted to use this many times as a 10 minute hair mask, and it just bad. My fine, bleached hair feels good with the product loaded into it. But as soon as I rinse, its like the mask leaves NO conditioning properties behind, so whats the point? On the other hand, as a leave-in, a tiny amount on damp hair (emulsified in my palms first) goes a long way to soften and smooth my hair. Be wary though because I used a little too much once doing it this way, and my hair was a disgusting oily mess.

As a haircare seeker I went to this product almost immediately. My cousin uses these products by Maui sense she has coily hair, and she absolutely loves it. I, myself, quickly went to the reviews and scanned over them. So many reported that it "pulls out their hair" and tangles it up. I am aware of this, and that we ALL have very different needs for out hair. But I wanted to clear some things up really quick; hair masks don't rip out hair unless its very cheap and poorly made. Here are some reasons why your hair may be tangling and falling out (if you're using other hair masks along with this one): 1. It all depends on how your hair reacts to the hair mask. If your hair is tangling up by putting little on, I would recommend seeking out another product. 2. When you stroke your hair while lathering on the hair mask, some hair does come out. Think of it as a comb; some hair comes out it its dead, or if you're pulling it too hard. Thats what your fingers are doing when putting in the hair mask, it's acting as a comb! The hair mask itself may not be pulling it out, its actually just the dead hair itself revealing itself I guess you can say. 3. Sometimes also when you finger your way in your hair you can tangle it. (This happens with mine all the time, oh my gosh.) 4. Hair masks are NOT supposed to be used EVERYDAY! I can say I see a lot of people doing this, its made for ONCE A WEEK! If your hair is falling out for the reasons above, switch it to once a week and you'll see a difference. If your hair desperately needs moisture (such as mine), I recommend two times a week, and I recommend doing it on a Monday and Friday to give your hair enough time to recover. < 3 So I can conclude, if this hair mask really is pulling out your hair, immediately go to another product. < 3 Nows heres my thought on this product: This product helps my hair as much as you can imagine. It makes your hair silky, and it keeps my hair nice and moisturized. I recommend any maui product (pairing is the BEST!) and Maui's products are just so good overall. If you made it this far, have a splendid day and please don't take offense to anything. < 3

I am so pleased with this conditioner. I've been growing my curly hair longer than it's been in quite a while and it's very prone to dryness. A lot of dry hair products don't absorb into my hair. This does! And the product is thick but no so thick that I have to use 1/4 of the jar in one go to get my hair covered, which has happened to me with a lot of other deep conditioners. My curls clump well, too.

Instead of the promised moisture boost, it is actually drying out my hair and making my scalp itchy. Worst purchase ever.

I tried using this mostly as a deep conditioner but at first I saw no results. But then I started to notice my hair was falling out more & getting even drier! I decluttered it. I have fine, dry, low porosity hair. This is a no go.

I have been buying this product ever since I've discovered it. I use it with the conditioner afterwards always leaves my hair feeling soft , keeps moisture in your hair. New favorite affordable hair care brand.
Maria from Massachusetts
Conditioner felt as if it would condition hair well because the consistency was thick. Well it was not the result I anticipated. My hair felt as if I put no conditioner at all after leaving in for 10 minutes. Will be returning.

This seems more like a regular conditioner than a mask. No plans to repurchase.

i'm not usually the type of person to run to write a review about a product unless i think it's incredible. this product is incredible. im literally at work right now writing this because it saved my dry, crunchy hair and transformed it into soft and manageable. the texture of my hair is so much better. the shampoo and condition in this formula is also incredible. love love love. you have to have this.
