But, I took a chance on these products because Clinique has a fairly good reputation. I bought four of these, and I looked very carefully at the color palette so that I understood, I thought, that what I was buying was a matte shadow. They aren't. They are quite, quite glimmery. Not an outright frost, but a lot more glimmer than one needs on a mature eyelid. I'm probably never going to be able to use these. To top it all off, they are quite hard. And I say this as a person who went outside in 104° weather to retrieve this box. one would think they would be melty, but I experimented with them while they were still warm to the touch from having been outside and I had to warm them up on my fingertip to apply them. I'm completely unhappy with these, I'm so sorry that I bought them. Both the shadows ended up looking fine however the alternate brand's stick was much thinner and it was much easier to apply straight to the lid itself. I probably should return it because I think it's just old and dried out. It's nowhere near as creamy as others I've tried. Doesn't glide on. When I try to blend it it either still looks patchy or just kind of disappears. Beautiful and creamy and easy to layer/add another dimension with different colors. I happened to put them all in a zip lock bag for storage and easy access, and have had no problems with them drying out, even after a couple years. I'm back to see if there are any more colors that I missed! Wish you had a rosy pink though, that would be perfect. When new, the product is creamy and easy to apply. However, after about six months the stick became dry, even though I was conscientious about replacing the cap tightly after each use. I loved the subtle glow and dimension they added as soon as I tried one in the store. It glides on smoothly like a balm, blends easily and is so fast and simple to apply- just a swipe and a couple of taps with a finger to smooth the edges and that's it. They are very sheer, but with enough tint to add some depth and contour. The shimmer is fine enough that to me it reads more like a satin finish in most lighting. I started with the coal and lilac, and found it so effortless and pretty that I eventually bought all the other colors, which work together well and are somehow all flattering. These chubby stick eye tints fit right into my minimal makeup routine, and I love being able to add a quick sheer wash of color to my eyes without any fuss. It does fade over the course of the day (I haven't tried it with a primer), but doesn't seem to crease. These are quickly becoming a daily staple.
