The prior review is correct that it is open but the closure is meant to be rolled depending one's hair volume or up-do.Weird but works?3Bri J from NYSo i didnt realize the entire top of the cap was opened and you twist it down to secure it, it doesnt show in the product photos that its not a closed cap. I dont quite understand the purpose of this unless you drastically change your hairstyles and may need more space in your shower cap some days. It does secure well though, no water has leaked in
