I bought this brush to use with the Bare Pro foundation. It worked well initially, and then quickly started getting extremely stiff. I couldn't get it to soften up. I even checked new brushes in the store to make sure that they did indeed start off soft as I remembered. Then one of the ladies at a local beauty store gave me a hint. She suggested that I use dish washing detergent because the problem was that skin oils get into the brush and stiffen it. I did that and voila, it works! Just passing that along in case it helps anyone. (May not be good in the long run for the brush, but the brush was pretty useless in that stiffened state anyhow).Most Helpful Critical ReviewThought I loved it at first...This brush worked awesome with the new barepro liquid foundation when I first purchased both together. After a week I realized a problem with the pairing of this brush with that foundation- this brush is really dense and that foundation does not move. So cleaning this brush is impossible! It had loads of hardened foundation gunked in it after a week of use. When I tried to wash it, I spent a half an hour scrubbing and scraping with a fine tooth comb, and some sections of bristles still were caked with foundation. I had to give up. I continued using the brush, the finish not as good as when it was new, and after a week, it needed another washing. Even more gunk remained after a thorough washing. I know soon it will be unusable and will not provide the amazing finished it delivered when it was new. I think bare pro foundation requires a beauty sponge instead of a brush. The new formula is kind of tricky, and this brush really helps with application. I generally don't like brushes for liquid foundation application and haven't tried this one for that. It's great for the pressed powder foundation, however. WOAH did I fine "the one". Yes you do have to wash and clean this often. But if you take care of it as it needs to be you will never use a different brush to apply foundation! I clean it lightly with bar soap since the bristle are so densely packed to help it last longer. I agree that it soaks up my foundation and is extremely hard to clean. With that said, it does achieve a great look. This is a special occasion brush for me when I want the look, but it would waste too much product to be my every day brush.
