I receive the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm as a sample,so I wasn't really familiar with this product. I used it as directed and I was immediately impressed with the results,my skin was left so soft,and dewy looking! This is such an amazing cleasing balm,but it can be used as an overnight mask as well,which I tried it out as,and I loved it!! I will now be using this as part of my daily skincare regimen! I've often heard that this smells "spa-like", but I find the fragrance overwhelming and unpleasant. Almost medicinal, similar to muscle rubs. The texture reminds me of vaseline. It is very soft (which I did like), but once it's on your face it just felt greasy. I don't think it emulsified well, and I felt like there was a film left on my face, even after using a face cloth to wipe it away. It does not remove my mascara and eye makeup as well as other balms. I had to go back over my eyes multiple times with cotton pads and micellar water to get all the mascara off my lashes. This doesn't usually happen for me with other cleansing balms. I used this product for 3 nights and noticed that I have a few pimples showing up. So I havent tested this product with makeup. However, for getting that grimey feeling off your face at the end of the day this product is AMAZING!! It doesnt leave a greasy residue after its wiped off, and it has helped clear my breakouts (it has pore clogging ingredients, but I haven't broke out from it). It has also helped tremendously with my sebaceous filaments and large pores in my nose. And it smells sort of like eucalyptus and citrus with some earthy undertones. A little goes a long way. The first time i used it, i was so relieved to see how moisturized my skin was. But the smell was SO strong it kind of made my stomach hurt. After a week of usung it, i had pimples covering my forehead and all over my cheeks. I followed the instructions on how to use the product. I will not be buying again and do not recommend!!! The breakouts are painful as well and this is the only new product i had introduced to my skin. You do have to double cleanse as well since this is pretty much an oil gel that removes makeup, but it also just spreads it all over yiur face after it melts off.
