This primer lays on top of my mineral sunscreen so well. There's no pilling or issues at all. And I tend to use a lot. At least 4 swipes on each cheek and a few around the rest of my face. Before using this primer, I would usually wear a powder foundation to balance out all the creams I wear. Within an hour of applying a matte powder, it would blend with the oils on my skin and leave me perfectly dewy. But that doesn't happen with this primer. My powders stay super matte for like 8 hours. I actually have to use a dewy setting spray if I want glow because the primer works so well to keep the foundation in tact. I haven't tested it much with cream foundations but it's amazing if you use finishing/foundation powders. And no sponge/brush necessary. Just swipe all over and spread with your fingers.
