It has a pleasant smell to it when you open up the cap. It did not flake as it advertised on the container. My feedback would be that it didn't really hold up as well as some other gels that I have tried. I'm not sure what the price point will be but I have tried cheaper gels that have worked better. It did last the whole day which was another plus. If it was just a little firmer of a hold I think it would be worth buying. The gel has a thick consistency with a yellow tint to it. I tried several styles with it and I would say it holds up for roughly about 6 hours. When first applied it has a nice wet shine look but shortly after a few hours the shine does fade and no longer looks sleek. It is also very sticky. It has minimal smell and does not flake which is impressive for a strong hold gel. If you are looking for a thick gel with a semi sleek look then give this a try. It will keep your hair in place for the most part just not with a sleek/wet look. I have fine blonde hair, but using it before blow drying gave it hold, but I need to pull my round brush hard to get the product through the hair. I also tried it while my hair was wet for a slicked back use as suggested. I rubbed it in my hands and flipped my head over and scrunched my hair. It dried with a wet, wavy look that was not as crunchy as other gels I have used. Smelly was pleasant.
