A good friend of mine who is also a hair stylist recommended this product to me because I would take the time to curl my hair and within 2 hours the curls are literally gone. She gave me some advice on how to use it and voila! first use and my curls stuck from morning to night, even the next day when I woke up in the morning. The price felt a bit high, but I was told you can find this online at other retailers for cheaper. Also, when I wash my hair the next day, I let the conditioner sit in a little longer.
I want to use hot rollers to set my naturally CURLY locks after blowing it out. I was looking for something to protect my hair from both blow dryer heat, AND hot roller heat. And THIS STICKY, ICKY PRODUCT was recommended by one of the women in the Salon--that's what they use. If this is what they use, NEVER USE THE SALON AT ULTA. It will RUIN your hair. I assumed the hair people in their Salon were knowledgeable. After my BAD experience, I went online to review the product. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The description online says NOTHING about blow-outs, and shows it as strickly a setting lotion. THAT'S NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR AT ALL, and the directions on the bottle don't specify that at all, either. The workers there don't know a thing about hair product (or most other items I've stopped in to inquire about)!!! I am so frustrated, I'm going to another business who knows hair. ULTA is nothing more than an overpriced 'cutsy' destination for people who like to just buy over-priced 'stuff'--good, bad or indifferent!! In my experience, the employees at ULTA seem to know less about items they sell than the woman who works the HBA dept at the big box store whose name starts with W.

Redken's Thermal Spray 22 High Hold is a game-changer in heat styling. This mist not only provides a maximum, long-lasting hold but also offers impeccable heat protection up to 450 degrees. Here's why it's become my go-to thermal setting mist: The ability to shield hair from temperatures up to 450 degrees is a game-changer. Before using this spray, the ends of my hair usually broke off when I tried to curl or blow dry. This spray offers peace of mind knowing that even during intense heat styling, my hair is safeguarded from damage. I noticed a significant boost in shine after using this spray. It gives hair a healthy, glossy finish that lasts throughout the day. What sets this spray apart is its ability to provide a strong hold without leaving hair stiff or sticky. It feels natural and clean, allowing for easy restyling if needed. The Heat Restyling Technology allows you to apply the spray once and restyle endlessly. It's like a reset button for your style, making it incredibly versatile. Whether using flat irons or curling irons, this spray delivers. It provides the hold and protection needed for both sleek, straight looks and bouncy curls. The blend of citrus, floral, and cedarwood is refreshing and not overpowering. It leaves a subtle, pleasant scent that lingers throughout the day. The inclusion of these ingredients showcases Redken's commitment to hair health. They protect the hair cuticle, preventing damage and ensuring a smooth, polished finish. Redken's Thermal Spray 22 High Hold is a standout product in the world of heat styling. It provides unmatched hold, protection, and versatility, all while leaving hair with a beautiful shine. The addition of Heat Restyling Technology is a game-changer, allowing for endless style possibilities. It's become an essential part of my styling routine. I straighten my hair daily and I'm always down for a thermal protector. This one however is not my cup of tea. I understand it's high hold but good Lordy it knots my hair up like no other. I parted it and sprayed this one and I legitimately could barely run my brush through it. I'm not too fond of the smell either. I will not be purchasing it.

Are use this for the first time for a wedding yesterday, and I was surprised with the results. My hair was very glossy, and there were no stray hairs.

You are better off using hairspray, this stuff is like water…This should not be labeled as "high hold." Don't waste your money.

I try to see the bright side of things, so let me start by pointing out something good about this product - it did a great job of maintaining my curls for days. However, during the curling process, I found that it was too sticky, and it left residue on my hands and curling iron. Another thing, my hair smelled burned and was a lot more damaged and prone to breakage than before curling. This made me skeptical. I did a test toasting two slices of bread, one with a heat protectant spray on it. The goal was to see if the protected slice would come out less burnt. Surprisingly, the slice with Redken 22 Thermal Protectant actually came out more burnt. This means that it caused my hair to get very damaged, even more so than if I didn't use any heat protectant. I'm feeling pretty upset right now because I spent a lot of time trying to find the best heat protectant, and this one seemed like a great choice. Maybe I got a bad bottle?? Regardless, I'm definitely going to return it soon, but I wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else out. Wishing everyone the best of luck with their own hair care journey! (Note: I have shampooed and heavily conditioned my hair since curling and it still smells burned and feels damaged. I don't use high heat when curling, only ~380 degrees, so I'm guessing it was the spray that caused the damage.)

This product was recommended to me to hold my curls and for heat protection. However If it leaves the hair sticky and gross, then we used to much. It's hard to control how much spray is being used because the sprayer spits it out rather than the fine mist i need. Please FIX IT! Add a fine mist spray nozzel to it.

I was looking for a heat protectant, guess I should have read the description better. This id basically hairspray, but not even a good hairspray. I couldnt even brush through my hair after using and all day my hair felt straw like. And it didnt even hold my curls! I am returning this. The only positive is it smells good. Do not buy unless you want straw like hair.

I really like this product! I spray it on dry hair then use diet iron or curling iron and it protects and sets it! I will buy again

I guess it does what it's supposed to? But it makes my ends kinda crunchy & leaves a weird film on the hair no matter how far away I spray it. I find this with a lot of heat protectants so maybe it's normal? Idk.

Spraying thick, sticky hairspray on your hair and then putting a hot iron on top - not for me. I have curly hair and use a thermal spray and hot iron to tame my curls, this was absolutely terrible for that purpose. Like other reviews have said, you can't brush the hold out. Showering was the only thing I could do to fix the terrible, sticky, and crunchy look this gave me. Also smells like chemical hairspray. Bumble and Bumble's thermal spray is a better product for me.

I have been using this for years, since it was called Hot Sets! Provides outstanding hold!!!

Leaves your hair so crunchy and feels like hairspray

As others have mentioned, this product is VERY sticky. It quite literally feels like a hair spray. It dries hard, tangles your hair, and is impossible to brush out. Literally just washed my hair and wanted to blow dry it, after spraying this I had to get back in and wash again. I have never written a review in my life but I gave this multiple tries and it was just awful.

did not like this it made my hair very sticky and weird. My mom and my sister didnt like this product either. i dont even know if it actually protected my hair against heat
bre from pasadena, TX
it felt more like a hair spray than a heat protectant it made my hair hard and felt very rouch and i couldnt straighten the rest of my hair properly because it felt very rough and when you spray it its very sticky. i wanted to love this product but unfortunelty it was a no for me.

This just makes my hair respond so well to the curling iron. I use it as I'm drying my hair, then use the curling iron, and get beautiful results.

If you find this to be too sticky and tacky, go with the other version of this product that is medium hold. It has 11 on the front.

It's important to use this product correctly in order to see its wonderful awesomeness!! I've used it for close to 20 years, spraying my dry hair underneath, prior to using a round brush with just a bit of heat added to seal it at the root. Voila!! Instant volume at the crown along with a bit of texture that lasts!! Please, Redken, don't ever discontinue or change Hot Sets!!

I bought this on the recommendation of Blowout Professor. He was wrong on this one! Even with just 2 sprays for a 1/4 inch section, my hair got stiff and tangly. I understand that this product is meant to hold the shape, but I was expecting smoothness not tangles. I hardly write reviews, but this product was so disappointing that I felt that I needed to leave one. I'll go back to Matrix Mega Sleek Iron Smoother as this actually offers the same level of heat protection (450F) and smoothness. Not to mention it costs less and you get double the amount!

So I've been using this (and Hot Sets, before it) for years… the key here is to use it correctly! Unlike most products that go in when your hair is damp, I've found that the best method with this one, is to use it on dry hair, spraying small sections as you curl it. When used this way, yes, it will initially make your hair a bit crunchy, but if you brush it out, the crunch disappears and leaves beautiful curls and waves that will last for days. LITERALLY days! I use Bed Head After Party, which adds a bit of softness and shine, after brushing out the curls. It's light volume, soft hold that lasts, and heat protectant. Excellent on all fronts.

If you want sticky, tacky, stiff dry hair buy it. I wanted to try it after watching the blowout professor but this product is horrible. I returned it and went right back to my living proof Phd.

I love this product, wish I could get it in the larger size but can't find it any more.

Awesome heat protectant: works better than hairspray for holding the curl after the heat application
