I bought this last week, but i can say I'm reviewing on behalf of 3 people! I have been a a long mission to find one product that works for me and my entire family. We all have wavy/curly, thick hair, but my husband and girl both have sensitive scalps that flake easily if the shampoo doesn't agree with them. I have stopped using SLS shampoos since my girl was born about 10 years ago and since, any shampoo I've tried works for one of us, but not all and they are pricy! This was truly my last ditch at a product for all of us. My husband has used this twice so far with ZERO complaints...that's a lot for him. My girl's curls have come to life in a way even the "love your curls" brand couldn't achieve!!!!! and my own hair, I was shedding hair to a point I thought the only solution was to chop it all off...now, after two washes, I no longer shed any hair at all, my hair has a beautiful shine to it, and it's so, so soft. While I was a huge no-SLS person, one thing I do know is I trust The Ordinary. I have very bad skin and their product is THE ONLY thing on the global market that works for me (i have tried medicated, european, shoppers and high end products from the bay with no results over my life. So when The Orindary came out with a shampoo, I had nothing to lose and I trust their formulations...and I wasn't wrong betting on them this time...we are very content. I did knock one star because the product is very runny, so it's easy to over use, and i wish for the same price we could get 100ml more (i.e. 350ml - please and thank you!).
I have been been using The Ordinary products for years now, and they have really transformed my skin. After Covid my hair started falling out, so I gave the hair peptide serum a try as well and it worked wonders. The 2 main things I struggle with is lack of volume and dry ends. I need a good cleanser and a moisturising conditioner to tackle these problems. I was very excited when their shampoo and conditioner were announced, and had high hopes for these given the very good results I had with all their products in the past. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks of using the shampoo and conditioner exclusively with no other additional products after washing, or any styling products, I have to go back to my old brand. The shampoo does not lather on the fist use, which is fine, I have used non-lathering shampoos in the past and know that lather does not equal cleanliness necessarily, however this shampoo does not clean the hair if used only once. My hair gets oily on the 4th day after washing, with this shampoo it got oily on the 2nd day towards the evening. The only way to get it to stay clean for 4 days is by double cleansing, which means using double the amount of shampoo, and in turn this dries your scalp. I never suffered with a dry scalp before (maybe a bit of itchiness in the winter), but after using this shampoo I have dry flakes forming on my scalp and falling on my shoulders... The conditioner feels like it's doing its job at first as it's extremely emollient when used in the shower; this makes you feel like it's moisturising. However, after the hair is dried the results are very disappointing. My hair is very dull and has this weird stiff texture that you sometimes get from dry shampoo, it's also very tangly and snappy when brushing, something I never experienced with my previous conditioner. I also have to mention the quantities of products used for my shoulder length hair - about 1 tsp of conditioner was enough to coat my ends and about 1 desert spoon of shampoo was enough for 2 rounds of cleansing. Finally, I would like to say that the packaging feels very nice, I love the look of the bottles and the fact that everything is fragrance free, however this product is not for me. Obviously this is my own experience and everyone's hair and scalp are different and I truly hope people with different hair types get better results.

There are no OTC shampoos available for some of us with certain allergies. I pray this is something the Ordinary continues to provide for us.

I was recently diagnosed with multiple chemical allergies, including all fragrance and commonly used cosmetic preservatives. The Ordinary shampoo/cleanser (and conditioner) is one of the very FEW (like three) products available in the WORLD that I can use… Great quality. Lightweight, clean, effective. Grateful for this product!

Like several other reviews mention, this product doesnt have much lather, which makes it difficult to use and you end up needing quite a bit if you have long hair (like me!) Love that it has no fragrance and my hair feels clean, but wish they'd improve the formula so that you can use less and not go through the entire bottle so quickly.

This has an oddly thin consistency for shampoo, and i felt like i needed to use a lot to get it to lather. Still worked well with the conditioner - my hair is very shiny! Just be aware that if you have a lot of hair, you may need to use quite a bit to get a good lather.

Best shampoo for fine hair! Nothing extra in it just the basic cleanser ingredients nothing extra that weighs down hair..I hope and pray it will never be discontinued because products targeted for fine hair are always drying…this is all you need..the condition is also great

My hair is very fine with 3A/3B curls. I deal with brassy tones and build up from the hard water in my apartment. I love The Ordinary's conditioner so figured I'd give the shampoo a try, and I'm glad I did. It's low-sulfate so it helps gently clarify my hair in between my reset washes, plus it's chelating so it's been good for dealing with hard water. I use a monthly chelating treatment and this shampoo helps me maintain the effects. Since I have curly hair and co-wash, I can't comment on how this shampoo would perform as a daily shampoo. But as a once or twice a week addition to my routine, it's been great.

I just used the Shampp for the first time and it feels wonderful for a Gentle cleanser. The hair is cleansed and feels manageable a minute later. Thank you.

I am happy with the cleanser but do not like the rectangular bottle. It is difficult to squeeze for me.

I have very fine, and oily hair but I have a lot of it! This shampoo has become one of my new favorites, and in combination with the conditioner my hair is left feeling exceptional! The shampoo has a light lather, and it leave my hair feeling literally squeaky clean, and my scalp even better! I only wash my hair every other day, and this keeps my blonde hair from looking like a stringy mess by the second day. Highly recommend!

Disclosure: I have wavy super fine hair with scalp psoriasis & super sensitive skin/scalp. This is one of the few brands of shampoo that doesnt kill my scalp. It doesn't irritate me and it doesn't leave a waxy feeling some other shampoos leave behind. I have tested it out for a while: 1st time I used it after going 2 days without shampooing and I had to use a lot more than I expected. I was able to get it to lather after a couple of washes, but I felt that in order to get my scalp clean it took way too much product. Luckily it did help my scalp feel soothed which made me give it another try. It would be perfect if it cleaned a bit more and had a cooling effect. I decided to try using a combo of charcoal shampoo and the ordinary by first mixing them together. Then i began using the charcoal shampoo and then have a go with the ordinary and vice versa a few times. It left my hair super clean and felt like the buildup in between washes even decreased. This combo works and I definitely felt like if someone that doesnt have oily hair would benefit from it. The way I now use it and have come to love is using it in between washes. I usually will use a charcoal scrub shampoo on one day and then on the following day or two I will use The Ordinary. I feel like it helps me cut back on the amount of shampoo I use in one shower and it keeps my skin flare ups at bay.

I can see this being great for people who have little to no build-up, reactions to scents, don't use leave-in product, have relatively thin hair, and wash their hair daily. I don't fit some of those categories, so this isn't for me. Maybe TO should just make a separate shampoo and bodywash. I really like their conditioner though.

I was hoping this would be a nice no stripping cleanser that would be more economical to use. I was not prepared to need 2 massive globs of body wash to simply be able to spread the cleanser all over my body to get a good simple clean. I'm not a big person, so it isn't that I have a much larger surface area than an average person. I normally only need one small nickel size spot of body wash to clean myself well even with body washes that are from cheaper grocery store brands. Since this really doesn't not have a good spreadability or foaming quality, I really can't use any less than triple to four time the normal amount of body wash I use. What I wanted to be an economical and skin friendly swap just ended up being as drying as the next cheap body wash I can pick up for a couple of dollars - but now I'm just literally powering through this and my money is going down the drain. I thought I was overspending by getting $16 body washes by Naturium - but after realising I need to use so much more and I have half of that in the smaller Ordinary bottle, it really works out more expensive to use this Sulphate body & hair shampoo and not even having my skin feel anywhere near as soft and silky as other brands that pack a punch with their ingredients in the body wash formulas.

This is the only shampoo I have ever had a good experience with. I have the finest, straightest blonde hair of anyone I've seen, and every other shampoo I used has stripped so much oil it's left my hair as a flat straight sheet that has zero volume and looks awful. This one leaves my hair clean and lustrous, but doesn't kill the natural volume. I had honestly given up before this and had been no-poo for 6 years. Now I use this whenever my hair is extra oily, about once a week. I really want this to be available in a larger size! I'm buying 4 bottles at a time because I'm using it as a body wash as well.

This shampoo is not low lather, is almost zero lather! This makes it's almost impossible to use, I need a lot every time I wash my hair and the bottle doesn't last long. I love it as a body wash and I would love it also as a shampoo if it just lathered a bit more!

I love The Ordinary. I use nothing else for my skin. It does miracles and keeps my dry skin at bay. I was so excited to try this shampoo. At first it was great, my hair felt clean and It completely calmed my frizz. But then I noticed a significant increase in hair shed. I would wake up in the morning and have clumps of hair in my pillow. Shampoo days were a hairy mess. I would touch my hair and had clumps on my hand. I thought it would go away but it didn't. I stopped using the shampoo to see if I was the problem, but the hair shed stopped. I threw away the bottle without finishing it. Won't buy this again unless they change the formula. Such a disappointment.

I like it because it is cruelty-free and has no scent. However it needs a lot more amount to lather up compared to other products out there. A square shaped container is another downside; I literally need to squeeze the container to use it. (The conditioner I bought together is great, except the container)

I love this product! It's so gentle and seems to be scent free! I like being able to use it on my hair as well as my body!

I have heat damaged, color treated hair and this product left my hair feeling amazing. Typically my hair gets really knotty after I shower, this left it feeling soft and didn't cause my curls to tangle up. It also doesn't have much of a scent so if you are looking for a basic shampoo/conditioner and are sensitive to fragrances I suggest you try this brand.

the product does not have a scent and it is more of an oil consistency rather than shampoo. the shampoo also does sud up much. this shampoo also made my hair oily a lot faster than others. have not used the product on my body.

i found this shampoo on sephora while looking for something to help with product build up and control my oily hair, and this is perfect! my hair seems to stay much cleaner for much longer now, and all you need is a dime size amount of shampoo! i saw results within the first week or so. i like that there's no overbearing scent and the fact that it's only $8? amazing. new holy grail shampoo

I have been trying to make this review so bad. I don't know what happened but every time that I tried to post it the app says that is an error. By the way I really like the product.

This product has amazing, high quality ingredients at a great price. I use this once a week to really deep cleanse my scalp. It gets rid of dry shampoo, pomade, and hairspray. Leaves my hair and scalp super clean. You can also use it as a body wash. It's gentle on your skin. I use sunscreen and aluminum deodorant. It removes it all from my skin without making it feel dried out. Wish they made it in a jumbo size!

For literally the first time in my life my hair feels perfectly fine. Every other shampoo is too drying or too heavy or doesn't clean well or leaves residue. Not The Ordinary's. My hair finally feels like itself, I guess? Soft and flowing and just right in every way. It's unscented, which I love. One note, if you only shampoo once or twice a week, you will probably have to do a wash-rinse-REPEAT with this shampoo. It's also great as a body wash. It treats my skin just as nicely as it does my hair. My skin feels perfectly soft, smooth, and clean after washing with it.
