This is a tinted mineral sunscreen with a mousse texture. I have a fair-light skin tone with a neutral-warm undertone, and I found that this provided just a little bit of coverage and mostly blended out looking like my own natural color. I'm not sure how universal that makes this product, but I've seen reviews by people with darker skin tones saying that they appreciated the tint. Still, I would not be surprised if those with very deep complexions find that this sunscreen makes them look pale. As far as my experience goes, I mostly enjoy using it. I typically find myself reaching for this when I feel that my daytime skincare routine has left me looking too shiny and I want to mattify things. I also use this on days when I'm feeling too lazy to apply a separate foundation or tinted moisturizer after my sunscreen. Since this has a tint, I just use it for both my sunscreen and my base product. The main thing I don't like about this sunscreen is that it never feels like it fully sinks into the skin— it always feels like it's just sitting on top of my face. If you're someone like me who tends to touch their face too much, this isn't a good thing. I find myself worrying that I've accidentally wiped off a bunch of the product whenever I unwittingly touch my face.
I had already used/loved Unseen, so I thought I'd order Matte Screen and Glow Screen as well. The Glow Screen wasn't for me and my acne textured cheeks, but I had high hopes for Matte Screen. Shook it well, the texture was nice in my hand, and I liked the neutral tint as I've found that other tinted sunscreens trend orange. It is lighter, so darker skin tones might still have a white cast. Applied it to my face and it's an immediate no. I had previously cleansed and used several light, moisturizing layers of essences and serums about ten minutes before applying this product. My face was not dry by any means, but the creamy mousse-like formula clung to my skin and tiny facial hairs in a way that makes it appear very flaky and patchy. I almost wiped it off immediately but decided to let it set for about 30 seconds before going back and tapping/smoothing it a bit more. That seemed to work okay, but it feels like the application is patchy and doesn't smooth over your skin the way Unseen does. I know a lot of people don't like all the dimethicone in Unseen, but it hasn't caused any issues for me. The ultimate finish does feel velvety smooth (hence the two stars) and several hours later my face is still matte (but not dried out). The tint eliminates white cast for me, but it's not a BB/CC cream so don't expect your redness to be neutralized. I wanted to have a makeup-free day, so I don't know how this fares as a primer… but given the application I wouldn't want to layer other things on top of this. I will keep buying the Unseen, and this will sit in a bottom drawer for a year before I finally throw it out. I would just use it up on my body when I go outside, but the patchy application is just so off-putting that I'd rather stick with my La Roche Posay sunscreens for that.

I love how it spreads easily, it feels very smooth but matte. I've worn under makeup a few times, different types of foundations and I get the same results each time. The foundation doesn't stay in place. ato keep in reference I have very oily skin like very OILY! I've used a matte moisturizer, with this sunscreen and then foundation and it's a no. I've tried using it alone without the moisturizer and it's still a no. I do like it and I'll probably wear when I'm running errands and I can just easily put this on. It has very minimal beige tint but nothing for covering imperfections. Like others have said it's a good spf but not under makeup:/

Overall, this sunscreen does its job. It is a nice mineral sunscreen that blends very well and does not leave white streaks on your skin. However, this sunscreen is also very sticky and does not do well under makeup. I will stick to the non-mineral unseen sunscreen for wear under make-up.

I have acne prone skin and have struggled to find a sunscreen that doesn't break me out/make me look greasy. This is hands down the best mineral sunscreen I've ever used. It helps control my oil production and leaves me skin soooo smooth

My makeup didn't last putting this on my face. I did everything it suggested but it didn't work for me. I used multiple times for indoor and outdoor during our summer heat and I was sweating more than normal.

The absolute best mineral sunscreen I have ever used! Glides on easily, no white cast, not oily or sticky, performs great under makeup 👏🏻💕

This stuff is so good. I use it as a makeup primer after my moisturizer. It gives me the matte poreless look and goes great under makeup and at the same time doesnt feel to heavy

I have been loyal to this brand since I started to use it 2.5 years ago. I have many allergies and acne prone skin, the product hasn't irritated my sensitive skin at all.

Matte is great, but pills frequently and dries out face with longtime use. I was so excited to find a Matte sunscreen, as I hate an oily feeling on my face. However, I have found this pills under my bareminerals liquid foundation, and on top of certain serums. Also, after using it daily for a month, I found it dried my skin out. This is, however, my go-to face sunscreen when I use The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% (AKA Vitamin C) serum. The serum is so oily, this Matte Sunscreen really balences the oiliness on my face.

The best sunscreen for oily skin!!!! I absolutely love this product I repurchase every single time I run out. I have super oily skin and this keeps the oil at bay all day

This is literally perfect. Goes in light, but dries invisible on my nc20 skintone. I can wear alone or as a primer. Smooths my skin texture. It offers great sun protection. This is literal perfection. Ive gone through almost 100 or so mineral spf for my face. I always had 15 in rotation bc nothing was ever what i wanted. This is EVERYTHING ive wanted. I pray it never gets dc or reformulated

Finally - a smooth finish that goes on easily. Matte finish makes it easy to apply make-up. Love the fact that i dont have to use my primer when I use this sunscreen. Humidity in FL makes it hard to wear anything on your face!

I have really oily skin so finding a sunscreen that isn't oily or leave a white residue is hard! I tried the Mayte sunscreen and I'm in love it's light weight and leaves no residue! 10/10 would recommend!

Supergoop Matte sunscreen has been my goto since I discovered it, considering I have days my skin tends shine pass the "glowy" skin. I used to use the Cerave hydrating sunscreen, and although it was good it didn't stop the extra shine. I love that supergoop also works as a sort of primer. It goes on so smooth & clear on my skin without leaving a cast of any sort & doesn't break me out which is a huge plus! I highly recommend this to oily and combo skins.

I've repurchased this many times over the past few years. I love the lightweight feel and it's great for my combo skin. I do re-apply often if I'm sweating since it is on the lightweight side, but I don't mind it and carry it in my bag everywhere.

Works like a primer under your makeup. No white trace. The best.

Nice texture - kinda like mousse but i dont like the product on my face. Hard to blend for some reason and more often just "sat" on my face. Looks like beige frosting, so i would go with something else if you want some dimension. Non irritating so that is a plus.

Nice matte finish, good color for fair skin, but way too drying and expensive for the amount of product.

So light and breathable! This is the nicest sun screen product I've ever put on my face. Highly recommend- I will be using all summer in the AZ sunshine.

It started off with a white cast but cleared out within 2 minutes

I bought this sunscreen to try because I'm pregnant and cannot use chemical sunscreen. I have breakout prone skin and was hoping the finish of the matte sunscreen would blur pores. I like that this has spf 40 and the texture does feel smooth. It does, however have a slight white cast leaving the skin looking dull. My husband asked why I looked so pale. I quickly reapplied but mixed some drunk elephant bronzing drops in with it and that helped.

I wanted to love this but it broke me out sooo badly. It also felt super silicony.

For all you oily girls…when I say run and purchase this…it's not a want it's a NEED!! I have extremely oily skin and it is so hard to find products that look and feel natural while controlling oil…So much better than Tula matte SPF!! -Blends easily into the skin -makeup blends easily with this product -matte but natural finish -controls oils (wore it for 12+ hours) -does not separate and sit on top of skin *wore this as my "foundation" and used concealer. I felt as if it covered just enough without being cakey. the color is beautiful!!*
