I really like this shampoo, but this is not something I can use daily/regularly. It is however an important part of my routine. It smells amazing and really deep cleans my scalp. It makes my hair smell like a Thin Mint cookie and tingles my scalp in a good way. It removes all of my flakes and soothes any irritation. This product is perfect for someone who needs some scalp help. However it does seem to strip some natural oil from my hair upon use. It leaves my hair feeling dryer than normal (or than I'd prefer.) This can be helped with a good conditioner in the shower and an extra leave in conditioner when my hair is damp. These extra steps might seem annoying, but from someone who needed the extra scalp care, (and already lived the double conditioner life,) it was worth it. < br style="font-size: 12px;">< br style="font-size: 12px;">So I have rather long, wavy, tangle prone hair with a flaky, oil hardy, regularly irritated scalp. The hair at my scalp is relatively healthy, I don't dye my hair, rarely heat style it and I try not to over wash or use dry shampoo. However my hair is so long that the natural oils at my scalp can't reach my ends and the pores at the back of my head/nape of my neck don't seem to produce the same about of oil as the top of my head. So my ends and back of my hair are dryer, more snarl prone and show breakage. This is why conditioner and leave in conditioner are so important to me. < br style="font-size: 12px;">< br style="font-size: 12px;">So with this in mind I found this shampoo to be a "once in a while" but important product. My scalp needs this shampoo, but my hair can't handle it too often. So it's a delicate balance. In the summer when I'm sweating a lot more and therefore forced to wash my hair daily I would use this product once a week, but once it cools down I see myself using it every other week or twice a month. < br style="font-size: 12px;">< br style="font-size: 12px;">When I use this shampoo I follow it will the matching scalp revival conditioner and then when my hair is only damp I end with my reparative leave in conditioner spray. I have to do that last step or I'll regret it. When I do all three steps I feel wonderful. My scalp feels amazing, calm and clean, my hair feels think and has more body. I love it.
I have type 4, mid back length hair with medium-coarse strand thickness and I'm confused as to how anyone could rate this 5 stars.
The whole purpose of a shampoo is to clean the hair and this didn't do that. I always assumed a detox would do everything a clarifier does and more but this doesn't really do much of anything besides tingle and have a strong smell. I typically used it as a first wash (thinking it would clarify) and then used a moisturizing shampoo. Depending on whether the moisturizing shampoo had sulfates or not, my hair would either feel dry or just not clean. One time, it was the only shampoo I had available to use (I got a free Briogeo travel/sample gift set from an Ulta purchase and threw it in my travel bag) and I washed my hair 3 times because I thought if I used it enough, it would finally clean. Wrong. My hair was so sticky and the ends were clumping together even after the blow dry. The blow dry time increased because it's harder to dry dirty hair. My flat ironed hair looked stringy on the ends. I also tried using it as a moisturizing shampoo after I clarified with my usual clarifier. This produced the best results out of the 3; my hair actually looked good. But my hair went from feeling clean to feeling dirty again! Not as dirty as when I used it by itself 3 times, but still noticeable. I could feel the tackiness on my fingertips when I rubbed them together. I had to turn the flat iron down because my hair was sizzling. I also flat iron using the brush-chase method and there was black/gray soot on the bristles. The brush I use is pink, so it was very noticeable. That only happens when my hair is dirty.
The main cleaning ingredient is Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate which is a mild clarifier. That wouldn't be bad if weren't loaded with a whole bunch of oils. It most likely did clean but also deposited extra oils onto the hair to make it feel softer which lead to the tackiness. I looked at the ingredient list beforehand, but with all the good reviews and with it being such an expensive product, I assumed it would be better formulated.
I will say this: The stickiness subsided a LITTLE bit after applying the Don't Despair Repair Deep Conditioning mask, but not completely. The exfoliating beads dissolve pretty easily but also give you ample time to clean your scalp. It didn't cause my hair to tangle and detangling was pretty easy. Also, it did get my scalp pretty clean looking and it's virtually impossible to dry out your hair or scalp with this alone. I can see how it could help with scalp dryness. But I don't have that issue, so it's not worth the price tag to me when it also deposits build up on the hair. Also, all that oil being left behind on the scalp will probably cause clogged follicles and lead to excess shedding over time. I got 2 when it was half off during the Gorgeous Hair Event and still took both of them back.

Easy to use and rinses out quickly. Scrub has the perfect texture to give a good scrubbing without irritation. Gets off any scales or gunk easily. Hair feels clean and it doesn't strip. Multiple repurchase because this works and does it well.

This is such a great product for fine oily-prone hair. I use it twice a month as a clarifying shampoo and I love how effective it is at exfoliating my scalp. Amazing mint scent. I think it's totally worth the price for what you get. Packaging is great too.

I have always struggled with an oily scalp and product buildup even though I don't typically use hair products outside of shampoo and conditioner. Since my hair is also light-colored and thin, I am typically cautious of "detox" shampoos. But this shampoo does not irritate my scalp or negatively affect my hair color at all. I use it as shampoo once a week (often after hair oiling for a few hours) and rub it into my damp scalp for a few minutes before rinsing it out. My hair will not get oily for days and days after using this. I could probably wash my hair with this once a week if I really wanted to and my hair used to get oily after 1-2 days. Also love the texture and slightly minty scent.

This shampoo has a nice whipped formula along with small exfoliating pieces. It smells good and is easy to rub into scalp. I feel like my dry winter scalp is less flaky and itchy. It does leave hair feeling a bit stripped, but I follow up with a hair mask to lock in moisture.

I love this shampoo it has changed my life. I got a smaller size in a gift set and went back and bought the full size the next day. It feels so nice on the scalp and is truly refreshing!

Nice scent and cool, tingly feeling. Made my hair feel clean. Did not help with dry scalp though.
Wish packaging was in a squeeze tube as well. Overall, would probably work for someone else but I would not rebuy.

I love the level of clean this product provides. I purchased it a couple months ago at the beginning of the cold, winter season as my scalp gets really irritated and dry. This has significantly improved the quality of my scalp. I have way less flakes, and my hair feels way cleaner than before. I always use it after my first round of shampoo, and really make sure to lather it onto my scalp and exfoliate. It also smells great

My favorite scrubbing shampoo! (Obviously since there is barely any left). This product smells amazing and feels cooling when you use it. It lathers up nicely and cleans my hair leaving it refreshed for days.

I have struggled with psoriasis for years now and have tried so many products to treat my dry scalp that have not worked and just ended up being a waste of money. This product is the only effective thing that has helped with my dryness and flakiness. If I use a different shampoo there is a noticeable difference in how dry my scalp is. I couldn't recommend this product more. Worth the money.

This shampoo leaves you scalp feeling cool and hydrated. My scalp has been dry and this really
helped with the moisture it needed. Smells like peppermints.

I bought this one but I didn't feel like it helped my scalp much. I also wasn't a big fan of the packaging and I feel like there are other products out there where you get more for your money. I u fortunately had to skip due to the costs

It was worth my money , makes scalp feel clean. It was packaged simple and it smells refreshing. I feel like i would use it again in the future because it helps with dandruff.

This shampoo is pricey, but it's worth it. I suffer from psoriasis, and my scalp is so itchy all the time, but this shampoo is great for exfoliating it all. I love the most for being natural, as I'm always worried to not make my scalp feel worse, but it's a little miracle. I also oil my hair weekly, and I can't describe how good this shampoo washes it all out. And to top it off it smells like chocolate mint cookies.

The scalp revival line by Briogeo is a game changer for dry and itchy scalp issues. This alleviates symptoms and leaves hair feeling squeaky clean.

i wash my hair 1-2 times a week. i have a very dry scalp with psoriasis yet i have oily roots. I bought the travel size of this product to try it out and let me tell you i love it so much i bought the biggest jar they had! Very expensive but works so well! Week 3 of using this and my scalp feels so revived! No visible flakes, no itching and i love the smell! To me it almost smells like a mint chocolate smell. I love getting that random bust of its scent throughout the day. I find that im going an exta day between washes now too. Love this product!!

I had never tried a scalp scrub before. I had high hopes that Briogeo's Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo Scalp Scrub would be worth the money since it seems like a high-end brand. I let the product sit in my refrigerator for a few hours before opening it. When I opened it, I saw that it looks like a gray paste. I was absolutely horrified at what it did to my hair when I was in the shower!!! It turned my hair into extremely dry, hard, clumps. It was a hot MESS! It was difficult to run my hands through my hair and separate the clumps. I had to use a ton of conditioner to undo the damage. I will never use this product again and I do not recommend it to anyone no matter what.

It is a game changer in my routine and I can see and feel the difference in my scalp with how nice my hair feels. It is long lasting and leaves a wonderful scent and worth every penny. This is a permanent part of my routine.

This is so refreshing! I knew my scalp was dry and itchy, but it wasn't until after I used it that I realized just how much I needed it. I absolutely love this!! My itchiness went away and my scalp felt so refreshed!

Smells great and lathers well. Cleaned my scalp with one go. Would def buy again. A little pricey but works well.

I've probably repurchased 4 of these in the past year. As someone who struggles with dandruff and an oily scalp, this shampoo has been a lifesaver in my every day routine. I can go 2-3 days without washing my hair without seeing any dandruff.
Packaging could use some work since it's tricky to always twist off the cap in the shower. The jumbo size has a pump, so I'd like to see this implemented in the 8oz sizes as well. The charcoal gives it a fresh toothpaste-like scent and you can feel the little microbeads that give a nice exfoliation to the scalp.
cyndy1993 from FORT WORTH, TX
The scalp revival helped me when I was suffering from dry, itchy, and irritated scalp from a new hair product. It really calmed down my scalp and got rid of the flakes. It was great at removing the buildup from my hair. Love it.

I have really bad flakiness on my scalp. Head and shoulders doesn't do anything for me. I used to use T – gel from Neutrogena however they discontinued that product plus the smell was horrendous. The smell on this one is so nice, it makes you feel like you're at the spa every time you use it. I notice a significant decrease in flakiness on my scalp. It helps get rid of the buildup as well as nourishes the scalp. I am on my fourth container now and although it is costly, it is the only thing that works. I haven't found an effective dupe for this product.

My husband has tried everything for dry scalp. This is the best product we have ever found. His scalp has almost totally healed in the first container of this shampoo. We just got 2 more containers and will continue to use. Highly recommended!!
