First a little background info - I have naturally wavy/curly hair that I wear in a long pixie (or stacked & layered bob.) My natural hair is very thick and is a dark, dirty blonde with a few gray strands starting to sneak in. I have colored my hair brunette for 20 years & it has always been super glossy, soft, and in excellent condition. And that is with me shampooing and blow drying it out straight every day for 20+ years. So, about 2 years ago, I had to find a new stylist as mine retired. The new stylist I began seeing, used a different color brand that did not leave my hair near as glossy, smooth, or soft, as my previous colors. I also noticed a little dryness after each color which had never been my experience before, but since I only re-color every 4 months, it sort of recovered in between. But in the last year I have had multiple issues that combined & led to a hair Armageddon. The issues included using new tools (blowout brush & flat iron) that were way too hot for my hair, 3 drying color treatments, a chemical straightener, a super-hard well-water issue and I had Covid twice (increased hair loss can be a side-effect.). The combo of all these seems to have wrecked my hair! In a short period of time, my hair became super dry, frizzy, completely unmanageable/ unstyleable (if that's not a word, it should be) and has been breaking off within an inch of my scalp, by the handfuls. I have never been one to lose even a strand of hair, period. Not even while washing, towel drying, brushing, styling, etc. I never had hair in my brushes or on the shower drain. But then within a month or so, I was losing 10-15 strands with each gently run with my hands through my hair AFTER conditioning. It was a drastic change. I eventually decided to cut off about 4+ inches all over my head (which is a lot for a pixie cut) bc it was so dry and unmanageable. I was hoping a severe hair cut would minimize the hair breakage. But it did not. My saving grace has been that I had very thick hair (which is now very thin) or I would currently have a GI Jane cut. So I was experiencing this breakage for about 8 months or so. Desperately wanting to save the hair I still had, I spent a fortune on products. And I mean a fortune! You name it, I probably tried it. I tried the super expensive salon-only products to the number 1 rated products for damaged hair, etc, etc, etc. And then one day I decided to buy the Olaplex 4 & 5. I had used it years ago and loved it and that was with healthy hair. So I hoped it could help my current hair condition. Well..... WOW!!!!!! With just the first shampoo while still in the shower, I could tell there was a difference. Then with the conditioner... bam! Immediate game-changer!!! After using the combo just 3 times, my hair was so much softer, and manageable, and where there had been 0% elasticity, it was no longer near as fragile. Currently, I shampoo my hair every 3rd day with Olaplex 4 and condition it everyday with Olaplex 5. I have been using this combo for approx 2 months. My breakage has been reduced by 75% which is awesome. That means 75 strands of hair out of 100, are no longer breaking off, when 100 of 100 were breaking off. That is a TOTAL WIN!!! The reality is that my current hair follicles are permanently damaged and cannot be reversed or made whole again. They can only be "pampered' and coated until they are trimmed off and replaced with new healthy hair growth. So with Olaplex, it is allowing my hair to "f ake it until it makes it." It is currently soft, has a lot less frizz, and it able to be styled which is a complete change from what it was. I feel like my hair continues to improve with every use. I am so pleased with this shampoo/conditioner combo and the results it has created for my hair!!
I have been using no. 6 and 7 for the past four months and I love them. I decided to give the shampoo and conditioner a try and I cannot even explain how disappointed I was with the product. I wash my hair twice a week and it usually only starts to get oily on the third day without washing. For context I have very healthy, curly, virgin hair. I rarely use heat on it and almost always wear my natural curl. This shampoo made my hair stringy and greasy looking. The morning after washing it looked like I had gone over a week without washing. I went online and looked at multiple reddit threads of people having this same problem and tried every possible suggestion but nothing helped. And don't even get me started on returning it. I reached out to Olaplex and explained my situation and they told me they would refund me but I would have to send the product back and pay for shipping out of my own pocket. So there goes $12 on shipping to send back something that didn't work for me. For the ungodly high prices they charge on their products they should have covered the cost of return shipment. Overall very disappointed with this experience, I will continue to buy no. 6 and 7 but I most likely won't be trying anymore of their products.

I have a completely chemicals free hair, haven't dyed my hair in over 6 years, and I go every month for cuts, before I started using this shampoo my hair and scalp were healthy, wanted to give this brand a try because of all the social media hype BIGGEST MISTAKE, after the second use my hair got dry and after the third use I started experiencing extremely itchy and flaky scalp to the point where my scalp starts bleeding if I scratch it. Please for the sake of your scalp stay away from this shampoo

Ok. I gave struggled with damage and frizz since I was a child. This has been the only thing that's ever worked. I use this with number 3 and number 5 once a week. It is heavy on the hair so don't use this unless you have damage. And you only use #3 where you have damage. I saw an immediate improvement and a month later, I had the hair of my dreams. I am starting to phase it out and only use it once/ week. I see improvements. I'll probably stop using it for a bit until my hair gets damaged again. I dye it regularly. It does happen, but I know what to do now.

I was easily influenced to purchase this product. Although I enjoyed using the product for the first part, after a month of using it, I've noticed a lot of hair fallout and dryness with my hair. Every hair has different preferences so it wasn't really the "best" shampoo I've used (I literally used Pantene before this!). Hair type: Asian, thin hair, straight-to-wavy If you have the same hair type as me, I recommend finding another shampoo and conditioner that isn't pricey!

This is my second time using this shampoo and I don't recommend it, it leaves a very smooth finish but after this second application, I start to notice that my hair falls out after using it, I love my hair and I will stop using it!!

This product is definitely not for everyone. I've only used it for two weeks and it caused serious damage to my hair. Now my hair is super dry and it's falling out in big chunks. I wanted to love this because of all the great reviews but it's only made my beautiful hair suffer.

My hair broke off in random sections! First and foremost for those who doubt it, I stopped using it and within a week my hair stopped breaking and I am now in Recovery mode. It was Olaplex. I used only the entire line of olaplex for my hair, and same styling products I always did. I am so mad that I didn't realize it was Olaplex. Just remember, it started out great.. but in about 7-8 months, my hair was breaking all over. Don't let it happen to you!

I have very fine and fragile hair, this is the only brand, and I have tried them all, that strengthened my hair! My stylist even commented that she had never been able to get a comb through my hair when it's wet after doing my hair for a few years until I used this on the regular. I wanted to stray away and use different products but guess what.. nothing works as good! Always go back to olaplex.

I LOVE Olaplex. It is the reason I can get my hair done every 90 days. I use 4, 4P occasionally, 6 mixed with 7 & dry shampoo. My hair is in great condition per my stylist so if you're wanting to start the blonde process or if you are blonde, you need this to protect the integrity of your hair.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews and comments and yes I kind of have to agree the product is a bit drying but ive seen that using it with another shampoo is pretty good , like I used Nexxus

I have used Olaplex #6 in the past and loved it. So when I was having a scalp reaction to a shampoo, I bought Olaplex to help. A few weeks in I noticed I was having MANY hairs standing up all over my head. I've had flyaways before, but this was much worse. I was googling remedies and found other consumers have complained about bald spots, hair loss and breakage after using Olaplex and it clicked in my head that my issue had started just after I started using this product. When I went to exchange it at Ulta the worker said "You're not supposed to use Olaplex every time you wash your hair." This was news to me! I don't wash my hair every day and I do rotate another shampoo in but most often I was using Olaplex!

I switch shampoo/conditioner a lot and I love olaplex. I've used it before and gotten great results. Even after my first time using it again, my hair feels and looks great. BEWARE! if you've had a negative experience with hair falling out or breakage when using it, it's NOT THE PRODUCTS FAULT. Your hair is probably getting too much protien. you only need to use this stuff once a week. if you're someone who thinks they need to wash their hair everyday, this product isn't for you.

I purchased this product from my hair stylist. After wanting to try this out for years, I was thrilled when my stylist had this, so I bought it. I cannot write a review, but this product did not sit right. I used Monat and bondiboost, and I loved them. When I got my hair done, my stylist (which I love) said it was dry, so I figured they knew best. What do I know? I purchased it in October, and I am not a fan at all. I hate how my hair feels. It feels like straw, very, very dry. I have gone blonde, and it feels bleach dry, and its been years since I have gone blonde. This is not meant for everyone or hair type, and that is okay don't be pushed into buying this product by the hype or hairstylist. If you want to try it out purchase the smallest package or ounce do not invest until you try it out.

I have been using the Hair Repair product and I've loved how it makes my hair feel. I thought I'd give the shampoo and conditioner a go and I'm really disappointed in the shampoo. My hair is dry and it makes it look so greasy and it feels like I have product left over in my hair after scrubbing my head for 10 minutes. The conditioner is decent tho and I like the light-weight feel.
