My 17yo son who is biracial (blk & yt but he looks Mexican. Hispanic ppl come up and speak Spanish to him bc they think he's Hispanic.) had big spiral/ringlet curls when he was younger. After years of neglect bc he is a boy that doesn't care, his curls turned to a poofy wavy blah. It's been like that for several years now. But is more noticeable to me now that he's wearing it longer on top. I saw this and wondered if it might bring his curls back. So I switched his shampoo on him. HIS CURLS ARE BACK. it's only been a week! And as I said, he's a 17 year old boy who, I assure you, doesn't do anything else to his hair but wash it and comb it. We didn't do anything but switch to this shampoo and BAM. within a week his beautiful curls are back. This stuff is legit. If you're wanting to get your curl pattern back this will do it and is worth the crazy high price. That price is high though. Idk how long I'll keep buying it bc of that. I highly doubt he will keep buying it as an adult at this price. But. It DOES work. OH and his hair does get oily faster. But that's kind of to be expected considering this isn't a SHAMPOO shampoo. That's part of the point of this cleanser to people that don't have oily hair types. So it's to be expected.Most Helpful Critical ReviewOn The Fence...I got a sample of this shampoo and the conditioner with an Ulta order recently, and I have to be honest, I'm really torn about this one. So I used both one afternoon, and after I towel-dried my hair just long enough that it wasn't dripping water everywhere, I put it in a bun and forgot about it for a couple hours while I did some cleaning. When I actually remembered to look in the mirror, I was seriously in awe of how good my hair looked. It didn't enhance the curl much (loose waves are natural for me, I've never had tight coils or cute spirals, so if you do, just know I've always been jealous of you), but dang it was soft and frizz free! Full disclosure: I gave up the blow dryer like 6 years ago, so my hair is pretty healthy now and it dries nicely with nothing but a little Biosilk. But I even forgot the Biosilk after that shower and I was stunned by the result. However, after that day, I learned about all the people who have irreversible hair damage that is allegedly caused by some of the ingredients used by DevaCurl, and even though it seems they've reformulated the recipe, the company doesn't seem to be accepting or even acknowledging that the product might have been harmful at all, and as far as I've seen, has no intention to even look into the claims, much less apologize. So even if the new formulation is safe for long term use (which we can't know, until research has been done to isolate what was harmful in the previous ingredient list), I really wouldn't want to risk my hair on the chance that they might have fixed it, and I also really don't want to support a company who treats their customers (and even their influencers and brand ambassadors) with such disregard and dismissal.
