If you have great skin, you can use it alone. However, it is meant to complement your foundation by providing a smooth surface and light reflective particles. It doesn't provide coverage like a foundation. It is a primer, which is used under foundation. I'm a dancer with very fair skin and sometimes I don't want to wear foundation at practice with sweating. I add just this primer to give a little color and glow. Throw in some lip gloss and a little mascara, and I'm off to practice. For competitions, I use this primer under my foundation with setting spray. The texture is amazing and leaves a nice dewy glow. It evens out my skins texture and helps my makeup stay on and look nice all day at work.
