So the instructions say to massage into dry skin & either wipe away OR rinse with water. This is a product that definitely works best when it's rinsed off. It's really no different from how a cleansing oil or balm works (like Neutrogena light cleansing oil, Clinique take the day off or Physician's Formula perfect matcha 3in1 cleansing balm). All of those are applied to dry skin, massaged in & rinsed off & they work great at getting even stubborn waterproof mascara off. So I'm not sure why the instructions would say to wipe the product off because without rinsing the product off w/water, it doesn't work well in my opinion. Unless you intend to use a regular cleanser afterwards. But I happen to like all the products mentioned, including this one because they remove ALL of the makeup & I wear waterproof eyeliner & mascara every day. I may use a regular cleanser afterwards but that's only if I'm removing more makeup than usual or if I'm getting ready to use a mask. But in most cases, for everyday double cleansing isn't necessary, this one product is enough. My skin doesn't feel stripped or super dry afterwards either (the neutrogena light cleansing oil can leave my skin feeling stripped afterwards).
First and foremost: it BURNS my eyes. Neutrogena's sunscreens irritate my eyes (especially since I wear contacts) but now their melting cleanser that I was using in hopes of breaking down the sunscreen in a double cleanse routine BURNED my eyes. I want any facial cleanser I use to be able to break down makeup, sunscreen, waterproof mascara - and many K- & J-Beauty products do that with no harm to me. As usual, when the West tried to replicate this concept, they fail and fail hard. Not only is the formula thinner than most makeup "melts", the second I got it near my eyes, I couldn't open them, the burn was so awful. It was different than what happens when I get their sunscreen in my eyes. That hurts, but I can usually keep my eyes open. I was blindly reaching on my counter top for a pump dispenser. Ended washing my face with hand soap but it still didn't stop the stinging. I had to take out my contacts and not wear them for the rest of the day. I was able to calm the burn with a saline eye bath, Vaseline to wipe away any more irritant, and then eye drops. I don't understand how this is allowed to remain on the market.

I have tried more expensive brands and i find that the Neutrogena is comparable for a much lower cost. When I use the jelly cleanser, it truly gets all the makeup off my face. I am not.sure how much you are supposed to use, so I probably over do it... BUT it works!

I use every evening about two pumps and mainly close to my eyes to lossen the mascara. It us very gentle and no burning or discomfort feels just like lotion and no scent. Id repurchase again.

Anytime I used this stuff it would leave a burning sensation and took forever to remove my makeup and leave some on my face!

it works alright but when i remove my eye makeup and i wear liner & mascara it burns. i used to use oil to remove makeup but i like this consistency better.

I really live this cleanser. It removed my makeup, including waterproof mascara, and it did it gently. I enjoyed the texture and the whole experience of using the product. It also didnt break me out and I have very acne prone skin so that was great. I would purchase this again!

I love it because it has a very nice feeling on my skin. It removes all my makeup leaving my skin glowing and smooth. I love that this formula is odorless and contains vitamins for your skin.

All of my cleansers, even gentle ones remove makeup better than this. It does nothing without wiping, but if I wanted to wipe makeup off I'd just buy Neutrogena's wipes. I'll just keep using my gentle daily wash from them. It was cheaper and works better.

My skin can be sensitive at times but it's not overly sensitive. This MESS ME UP! Used it for 4 days without a problem. Day 5 my skin was irritated, red, burning and DRY! Just putting on lotion right new stings my face.

I have been using this for about 2 weeks and it NEVER takes my make up all the way off. I use waterproof mascara and I have to use twice with 2 pumps each and it still does not take my mascara off, just rubs it around and gives me racoon eyes. Plus it breaks me out like other reviews have said. This product does not work at all! Just go buy Elf Makeup Melting Balm for $11, that works way better and I only need a little bit of product.

I picked this up because I was traveling and forgot my usual makeup remover at home. I have really sensitive skin that's dry from my use of prescription retinoids. This product burned my skin and left it red and irritated. And it didn't remove my eye makeup at all it just smudged it around.

This is now my beginning routine when removing my makeup. It literally melts it away but I follow it with a cleanser just to be sure. It smells good and it foesnt leave my skin dry afterwards.

I tried it each way suggested per bottle instruction and it takes at least 3 pumps several times to get all the makeup off.

This stuff burned and stripped my face of any moisture at all. Leaving my skin red and giving me texture. Do not buy. It did not even remove the makeup. My entire face of makeup was still on after this.

I ran out of my regular makeup melt so when I was at my local drugstore I picked this up thinking it would do until I could get my regular one. That was a huge mistake I used this maybe 3 times and my face had breakouts all over and this was the only thing that changed in my skincare routine. I instantly stopped using it and, thankfully, my skin went back to normal. Idk if it's the, unnecessary, fragrance that is in this product of what it was that my skin did not like but if I were you I would PASS on this product!

I love this cleanser. Totally takes all my makeup off and leaves my dry skin extremely soft.

Sad, was trying to find something to replace the now discontinued Neutrogena cleanser (blue bottle). I use a NARS foundation with E.L.F putty and it takes about 4-5 pumps and washes to remove. Does not remove eye makeup, it just smears it. Forget having waterproof ever removed.

I usually purchase the fresh foaming cleanser but this product has been out of stock in all stores in my area for a while now. Decided to try the makeup melting product and was not only disappointed by the price but also by the poor quality of it. Even when I use large amounts of the product it still fails to take off my mascara completely and leaves me with dark splotches underneath my eyes.

Purchased to use as a double cleanse. Doesn't remove water resistant mascara (Benefit Roller Lash). Leaves my super oily skin feeling dry before using my regular cleanser. It does a good job removing my Neutrogena Tinted Moisturizer but eye makeup requires extra steps to remove.

Easy Way To Clean Face!! Love that you can put it on a dry face and just remove with a cotton pad or baby wipe!! Leaves face soft and smooth with a nice light scent 😊

I've used this for a couple of weeks and it doesn't remove eye makeup. I use non-waterproof mascara and it ends up smeared halfway down my cheeks afterward. (I have to use a separate remover after.) It also doesn't seem to work as a regular cleanser, because I've broken out on my chin since using this - I think my pores aren't being cleaned well enough with this.

I just bought my second bottle of this. I have dry skin which can be acne prone. I use this as my morning cleanser and my pre cleanse at night. This product works great for that purpose. I do not wear foundation and I have lash extensions so I don't use this to remove any kind of heavy eye make up so I can't speak to the make up removing properties. I really don't understand the hate of this cleanser, it smells nice and has a pretty decently clean ingredients list, and the price point is pretty good too.

I had really high hopes for this item but this product was poorly executed. I feel like I'm just rubbing around my makeup with a little moisture. Half my makeup is still on my face after washing, it's just not a good combo.

It's alright, and I mean JUST alright. I typically use a remover balm but decided to try this on a wym, I don't really care for it. It doesn't thoroughly "melt" the makeup, making me having to either, A) use more of the product or B) use another remover. Which defeats the purpose if I have to use another product to remove my makeup (and I don't mean face wash, following this product). Honestly, you'd be better off looking elsewhere if you typically wear a full face of makeup. It may be great for someone who is very minimalist with their makeup.

Might be good if you wear light makeup, but doesn't work well on waterproof mascara or eyeliner.
Karyn from Henderson, NV
I usually use another brand for my waterproof eye makeup remover but it has been on backorder forever so I bought this. it is ok, it removes the makeup enough but it can sting a little or gives off a little irritation which I prefer not to have
