I used this product for a wash n go using the LCO method with my tgin green tea leave-in conditioner and the Melanin Haircare pure oil blend. I then followed it up with the Curlsmith curl defining souffle. This was my first time using any Melanin Haircare products, while I use the other products I mentioned regularly. The cream was thick, absorbed well into my hair, and worked nicely with my other products. My curls were defined, moisturized, and I noticed much less shrinkage than when I do a wash n go with my leave-in and gel alone. My hair isn't stiff, has great volume, and lots of movement. I did notice my hair was very greasy the next day, though I do tend to pile on the product so I probably only have myself to blame for that one. I'm currently on day 4 of my wash n go and haven't had to refresh my curls at all. My only real complaint is the smell. While I didn't love the smell when I first started using it, the scent wasn't very strong so I didn't think it would bother me. When I released my hair from my pineapple on day 2, I immediately noticed my hair had an unpleasant scent. (I don't usually notice my hair having any discernible scent unless I've used a strongly scented oil to separate my curls for a twist out.) I'm not usually super sensitive to smells, but this bothers me enough to consider ditching an otherwise great product. Like I said, I do tend to use a lot of product, so I'll see if the smell continues to bother me after making a concerted effort to use less. I have thick, medium length 4a hair that tends to be very dry.
I was super excited to try this product because Whitney is great and our hair appears to be pretty similar (obviously hers is much better cared for than mine), but it didn't work very well on my 3c-ish hair. I tried it 3 times and did not get the results I was hoping for any of them, except once when I paired it with a non-Melanin product. I LOVED how heavy the cream was as my hair generally retains moisture very well and this is only improved by using heavier products, but this one dried out my hair quite a bit on its own and when paired with the Pure Oil Blend. Also, it is just what it is called, a twisting cream. - Unless I put my hair in twist it, knotted up and locked itself, which has only every happen once before on fresh hair with any product in it and that was a cheap product. Both myself and by best friend purchased this and have very different hair (though both coily mine are tighter and self shingle and clump with just water but need a very moisturizing product to stop frizz and locking, so we need different product methods) and we both found we had to twist or form our hair with something to get any manageability out of our hair. I tired using more product to see if that helps, but it just made my hair crusty and flaky, which was all on my clothes, which I also don't generally have any issue with when using similar amounts of product with other brands (I didn't go crazy with product, I swear and my hair was wet when applied). I sincerely appreciate the effort put into creating these products, but I'm 0 for 3 so far. This is just due to the fact that they don't mesh with how my hair retains moisture but I know they are good, well thought out products in general.

I've used it everyday since my purchase but I'm not getting the results I imagined. I've even added leave in conditioner as suggested on the product but not much moisture or curl hold. I want to like it but I don't right now.

I bought this product three times thinking that it could be better or to maybe replace shea moisture my first love to try curl crème and butters and maybe I thought it could work on my hair but to be honest it could not compete with the yellow line.

this dentangles my hair like none other, i use it alone for twists out and the definition is amazing. when i do a wash and go i use this first as a base to detangle and it layers beautifully with my innersense gel. the fact it's non toxic and black owned is a huge plus!

I've always found it hard to believe people's reaction on videos when they take down their twists and their mouths are open in shock. Doubter no more!! I was completely 😲 My results were the best I've ever seen AND I first tried it out on DIRTY hair!! Plus, it's still maintaining, moisturized after 5 days. I live in Arizona, so this is HUGE! Can't wait to see the results after a full wash day with the entire line!

I liked the definition and the detangling in the beginning, until I started losing clumps of hair on wash day. I've never experienced this much hair loss in my life. I had high hopes of this product and I've been a big fan since 2014.

I really wanted to love this product however it wasn't working out. I brought this style cream as the step for my Wash n Go's. I've used it at least 3 instances to do my style and each time I get the same results. My hair doesn't absorb this product at all. I would let my hair naturally air dry and white residue from the product would sit there. Each wash n go I did, I took my time putting the product in my hair. I smoothed it out, did prayer hand techniques…. White residue persists unfortunately. I'll stick to the wet line xtreme gel.

I'd been wanting to try this for a long while & finally decided to. My hair loves thick moisturizing creams. Unfortunately this product did not define my 4a/c; 3b hair. My hair was very very dry, frizzy & undefined. I also got extreme product build up (but I did use other products so I can't say this is the culprit). I used it with my Shea butter thinking I needed to add moisture/oil & that didn't help. I gave it about 2 months, but it's a definite no. Shame, it's such a great price.

Have been using Melanin Products for years. Works great on my 4C hair. There are only a few of these products stocked at Ulta at a time. Would like to see more Melanin Products on the shelves.

Used it once so far on my twists and it was great! I used it on stretched hair and it help keep my hair stretched. I will have to use it again on not prestretched hair.

I am glad that I ordered this one. Although it says that it is a twist cream, I wanted to use it for my wash and go and it works very well. I have thin hair and this is a product that does not weigh my hair down but plumps it up. I am truly impressed by the definition, the moisturizing qualities and the overall performance. And-this jar is huge and will last me some time. Yay for the budget and the environment!!!! Less plastic, happy ovens, happy hair. We all win here ���.

I've been using this Melanin elongating cream from it's introduction to the natural hair care world, and it has worked very well for me, and my two daughters. I usually do not have many knots and tangles to contend with, but I feel that it makes my twists last longer. I would prefer if it had some fragrant smell to overpower the scent of shea butter. However I apply the leave-in conditioner before the cream, so that covers the slight smell of the shea butter. Overall I would rate it 5 stars because I am very satisfied with the results.
