This has been my HG sunscreen since it launched. For reference, I have oily acne-prone skin. This sunscreen would function as both a sunscreen AND primer in one and make my skin look smooth and flawless while also toning down my redness. The last two bottles of it I have gotten have had a completely different consistency and texture to it. It used to be really thick and take some effort to rub in (but in a good way and part of what made it mattifying). Now it's not as thick/rubs in easier but my face is back to being oily halfway through the day, whereas before it actually mattified my face and controlled shine better than any primer ever has. It's really devastating because when the first bottle seemed different I reached out to DermaE and asked why they changed the formula. They told me they hadn't and asked for a batch number and said they would send me a new one (they didn't), but I ran out of the one I had been using and was desperate so I went and got another one at my local Ulta (which is where I've bought it for years), only for it to again be this seemingly new formulation. I know they said they haven't changed anything, but I've been using this for so long that I know this sunscreen like the back of my hand, and it's definitely different and doesn't work or function on my skin like it used to. My skin has also been breaking out more the past few months and I haven't changed anything else in my routine or how I eat, so I'm inclined to think it's this new consistency (and formulation, let's be real) of this sunscreen. It's devastating because a one-time fluke is okay, but getting this different version of the sunscreen twice is obviously a sign that something has changed (maybe a new manufacturer/supplier if it's not formulation?) and that my search for the perfect sunscreen has restarted and is back to square one. Desperately hoping you hear this review/plea DermaE and bring back the old version or even just make the old version an "oily skin" version!
I have sensitive and acne prone skin type. I bought this with high hopes after seeing the reviews. My positive comment is that it gave my face a nice feeling all day long. It was soothing and not greasy, which I enjoy. I didn't have white cast issue as I am fair skin. However, I have some other complaints that are major to me. First, ULTA send me a product that is expiring in three months even after I asked for an exchange! (One star off is for ULTA's service). So yes, in the second attempt, the result is the same: expires in three months... This was disappointing as I won't be able to finish the product in three months. Second, about two to three hours after I applied this product, my eyelids became itchy and reddish. Then toward the night my eyelids were swallowed so badly. I had eczema-like allergic reaction to it for a few days. I didn't see an instruction stating not to apply I area. I never had this reaction before to any product I used on my eyelids. Finally, I had four breakouts on my cheeks in the next morning after I tried it. I am not sure why as it was not greasy. I suspect if dimethicone is the culprit. Anyway, I would have loved to be able use this product as it offers SPF and scar treatment. Now I am jealous of people who wave about this product. Obviously, this product is not good for my skin type.

I don't know if I got a bad batch, but I bought this several months ago and I gave it a good shot but I can not believe so many people love this. It's grainy, leaves a horrible white cast even on my very fair skin and just sits on the skin wrong. It doesn't sink in and dries and flakes and leaves white residue all over my clothes and eyebrows and somehow also is horribly greasy all day, and I have no idea why but no matter what I do it spreads and ends up in my eyes after about an hour after applying and it HURTS.

Pleasantly surprised with how much improvement I have seen with my acne scars. I've been using this product for about 3 months. Love that it is also a sunscreen.

Never thought I'd buy this but SO glad I gave it a try. Goes on so light. Not greasy in any way.

Love it! So light and doesn't leave cast white.

Wish they would come up with better packaging…literally anything else…so much product is wasted including my time getting it to pump out! Lol!

I really love this sunscreen! It melts into the skin and is super easy to reapply. It looks beautiful even with make up over top. It doesnt leave a white cast. It also has helped my acne scars too! Really love this product!

This stuff is great! It's matte finish, so it keeps my super oily, acne-scarred skin in check throughout the day. It has NO funky SPF smell aggravating me all day, which seemed to be present in every face SPF I'd ever tried. Only cons are the pump function (or lack thereof sometimes) and that I wish it came in a bigger size! 9.75/10!

This is a great product, it is easy to apply and I'll see how it clears up the scar but I like it! I am even sharing with my husband!I will definitely buy this again.

Ingredient wise, it's great, and it protects against sunburn and it doesn't irritate my skin, but it's a bit dry and grainy. It doesn't blend smoothly, and it leaves a white cast. I do not plan to repurchase it because I like other sunscreens more. This one just doesn't work well with my skin routine and how I want to look and feel. Perhaps it was just a bad batch, but I just prefer something smoother and more emollient. I did not enjoy applying this, and I was happy when I finished the bottle. But it works!

I was excited to try this but the lid/ pump is not functional, no matter how much I press it, nothing will come out. I also can't unscrew it?

I have very oily skin and this doesn't make my skin feel sticky or gross like other sunscreen. It is smooth and my skin doesn't get greasy or shiny. Love this sunscreen a lot.

I've been using the derma scar product for a while. It does leave a white film on brown to darker skin complexions but works slowly. Suggest using a good moisturizer over it.

I have burn scars on my face so I am very sensitive to skin products and I MUST wear sunscreen daily. I gave this a try and it was great! My face didn't get irritated and it helped lighten my scars. Unfortunately I am now overseas and they can't deliver to my APO.

I use other Derma E products and love them. After I had two moles removed from my face, I needed something to soften the spots and protect from sun. I wasn't sure about OTC products, because I'm very particular about what goes on my face. This scar cream has made a huge difference in my healing! Excellent coverage-- I can use a teeny bit if I just want to put it on those scars, or I can use more for my whole face, but it really doesn't take much, so the price is right! Highly recommend.

This lotion melts onto your face and feels almost like a primer. It can feel a little greasy, but I just add a little powder on top and I'm good to go. I love the ingredients and my only complaint is the pump dispenser — it takes forever to get it going!

I've finally found the one. I will be gutted if this ever gets discontinued. I'm allergic to chemical spf, they all burn and make a rash. Physical spf are so complicated to get the formula right. They can be very heavy or greasy. This is my holy grail. It makes an amazing primer under makeup. It has a natural skin finish. It feels soothing. It blurs my pores. It does everything. I'll buy this forever.

I've gone through 2 bottles of this, I'm currently on my third one. I genuinely love this product but the ONLY downside of it that it does unfortunately leave a white cast if not thoroughly rubbed in and I have a lighter complexion too. The pump does have a minor Defect but just have to play around with it. I end up having to cut the tube towards the end since it doesn't all come out. Other than that it's mattifying and clears up my acne scars

This leaves a very white cast on darker skin tones and gave me so many whiteheads. I really wanted to continue to use it but it just wasn't worth it because of the terrible breakout it gave me

I got this to try and help with my acne scarring, only to discover while it did help my acne scars, I was breaking out TERRIBLY while using it. So it does technically do its job, but it wasnt worth it.

There are some awesome ingredients in this sun protectant! I love a a double duty cream that takes the place of a moisturizer too. It saves space on my counter, saving me money and time too. The texture is very light with a lux creaminess that is very hydrating and it gave me a soft finish that wasn't greasy. It meshes well with my other skincare and cosmetic products while providing me long lasting protection. I'm a heavy sweater and it stayed put. I loved it!

Used this product while vacationing in 100 degree plus heat in the South West of the USA while hiking and kayaking. No sunburn!

I have oily and acne prone skin. I'm always looking for a good SOF with physical filters. This SPF has 12% of Zinc Oxide with other ingredients good for blemish recovery. The texture is smooth and it helps to control production of sebum and oil.

I really like using this together with the scar gel. It leaves no white cast and does not feel greasy or sticky.

Goes on the skin well and feels nice on the face. Only downside is that it leaves a slight white cast.
