I've been using the moisture surge line again for the last 2.5 years. I stopped using it 20 or so years ago because they only had the original moisture surge at that time, and it wasn't enough of a booster for my very dry skin. My sister worked for Clinique then, and even she couldn't get a good routine figured out for me. I'm now using almost all products in the line in addition to my 3 Step (Very Dry) and smart nighttime for very dry skin (all but eye gel). My skin is *very* dry and sensitive, so I have to do things differently than most (cleanse every other day, rotate products, layer multiple hydrating products, etc). Water is an irritant, so cleansing my face 2x/day is out of the question. Now that you know my issues, here's my review. 🤣🤣 At first, I didn't think this product really did much. It's watery and not really a lotion as the name implies; it's more of an essence. As others have said, you cannot use this alone-you'll be really disappointed. I tried layering it a few ways and found it worked pretty flexibly. My skin responded well if I used it AFTER anything that contained hyaluronic acid (I can only use in spring/summer--it dries out my skin too drastically). It seemed to provide the extra moisture that the HA tries to attach to when used this way. If not using HA, I use it after Step 2. It works well with sqalane and other serums you pair it with as it helps the others absorb into the skin better ultimately making your products work better. After talking with a Clinique rep, she suggested using it as the last step after my booster moisturizer in order to seal in the moisture. I was surprised that method worked too!! If you've got really dry skin and you're looking for help, try adding this somewhere into your skincare routine. It might work well for you too!! As you can see, you really can use this quite flexibly in your skincare routine if you need extra hydration or moisture. You do need to be aware that it is not intended to be a moisturizer on its own. Like any of the moisture surge products, it needs to be paired with others. I'm able to use this product year round, and I hope they never discontinue it because I'll have to stockpile it like I did the old moisture surge intense formula!! 🤣🤣Most Helpful Critical ReviewSticky, disappointedI wanted to love this. I currently use Cerave PM for my morning and nighttime moisturizer (recommended by my Derm) and absolutely love it for face and hands! Cerave PM serum fully absorbs and doesn't leave a greasy or thick residue. With this Clinique Moisture surge, I feel like it layers on my skin, sits on top with a tacky feel that doesn't go away when it dries. Maybe had I not been used to the Cerave PM I wouldn't have noticed this tacky feel, but looks like I will save some money and stick with Cerave! It works well with every other Moisture Surge or Dramatically Different formula as well. It's also a generous amount of product that lasts quite a while.
