I have been using arctic fox for almost a year now. I have used to it maintain my hair in various shades of blue, purple, pink, and turquoise. I switched over from overtone because it was staining my hair, esp the dark blue. Arctic fox does not do this, but it also needs to be refreshed a bit more often. If you have bleached hair and want to switch colors somewhat frequently, this is the best I've found. My hair stylist can get my base back to blonde for when I want a change, while this was not achievable with other brands. Blue in particular tends to be really stubborn to get out, but so far my hair stylist has no complaints about Poseidon or Blue Jean Baby. The color holds on WAY better to the bleached part of my hair (I have my stylist fade the bleach out so I don't get abrupt looking roots, but I still get good longevity on all my hair by using this process: -Wash my hair with clarifying shampoo (do this a couple of days in a row leading up if you use dry shampoo a lot like I do) and DON'T condition -let it dry completely, the dryer the better. -apply arctic fox color to dry hair -leave it on for 2 HOURS (the bottle will say 30 min - this is not enough time) -rinse the color out with the coldest temp you can tolerate (I have nerve damage so I use lukewarm water) - you should be good for 3-4 weeks as long as you do use your normal shampoo in your hair, especially not with a non-color safe shampoo. Dry shampoo is your new best friend (I love Batiste's products for this). Shower with a shower cap on if you take daily showers, and when you don't, rinse your hair out and just use conditioner. I only use actual shampoo in the shower once a week or so. This is what causes the most fading. If the idea of not shampooing/washing your hair in the shower frequently appauls you, maintainable fashion shades are not for you.
This product was an absolute nightmare ! Used this on my VIRGIN, all natural & very healthy dark ash blonde hair, from mid length to ends for a cool ombré effect. The color never washed out and it's been 8 months. I've tried multiple chelating shampoos, dandruff shampoo, the vitamin c treatment, etc you name it, I've tried it to get rid of this garbage off my beautiful virgin color. NOTHING would take it completely out…. No matter how hard you try, you will be left with faded out (but still obvious) color of the shade you chose and will end up either having to cut it off or bleaching/re-dyeing your hair with store bought dye which I haven't used in 10 years, so you can probably guess how royally angry I am to have had to use a Store bought dark ash blonde (which isn't even an exact match to my virgin shade, of course) & be back in the position to regrow my natural ash blonde again… I'm even more appalled on how this company fails to actually warn VIRGIN blondes that this product does not come off our shade…. I even complained to Arctic Fox sending them a 3 paragraph message as to what happened and for help, and their advisor told me if it does come off with shampoo then I will have to use a Color Remover (WHICH CONTAINS BLEACH). What….. so you know your products don't come off virgin hair but you don't admit it, you just tell people to use bleach to get it off basically and give a very non apologetic apology ?!? LOL if I had the luxury of money I would sue the pants off these people. If I could give this company 0 stars I would & I make sure I warn every natural blonde I know or see to avoid this product like the plague if you want to keep your beautiful virgin blonde shade !!!!! DON'T DO IT !!!!

To keep it vibrant I find I had to reapply Often. The first few reapplies the color did bleed and get everywhere. Warning though the red never leaves. Even months later I still have a red undertone to my hair. Kinda don't mind because I just switch colors but this product is intense and a commitment. It works very well though for a fun color option. I found many other brands didn't last like this one does

This is one of the best semi- permanent dyes I've used. Its conditioning, fades evenly, and is a relatively cheaper option compared to other dyes (plus it smells great!). Maybe some of the other colors don't hold as well, but the sunset orange remains pigmented for a while ( usually lasts 2-3 weeks), as least for me. A tip to make them last longer; keep the dye in your hair for a minimum of 45 mins to an hour & expect a little bleeding for the first 2-3 washes. Otherwise, it's a pretty great dye!

Very disappointed in this hair dye. I got the purple one and the application was incredibly easy but it literally washed out after one wash. Not even faded just completely disappeared like I never dyed it.

I have had problems with most of these colors before, but Transylvania is the absolute worst. It didn't take to my medium brown hair even though it's very black, it made my hair feel dried out and stained absolutely everything except my hair. I've been using black semi-perm color for about a year (and have been using semi-perm on myself for over 6 years) and I'm 100% going back to Lunar Tides or Lime Crime. I hated everything about this experience.

it's been 3+ weeks now and anytime I sweat while running around I have a blue mess dripping everywhere, it's embarrassing and stains my face as well

Love my dark purple hair 💜

I used this in the shade Transylvania. It stained me from head to toe when I washed it out in the shower. Stained my tub/shower and everything in it. Plus, it is definitely NOT semi-permanent. No matter how many times I washed it, it never came out!

Ever since the first time I used this color, I don't want to use anything else. It covers WELL!! I have a lot of gray and it covers better than all of the other products I have tried. Including Ms. Clairol. That lets you know I'm "Old School".

Used this to touch up the color on my sons hair. Worked amazing!

I had such high aspirations for this brand after seeing a video on Instagram where the person said this hair brand doesn't bleed. I should have known better when she said she colors her hair once a week to keep the vibrancy. The color BLEEDS SOO MUCH! Essentially anytime your hair gets wet, the color is being washed out. I normally use Punky Color and while it does bleed the first couple of times, once the color only washed out when using shampoo. I will NEVER use Artic Fox again. Save your money and use Punky Color.

I used this on recently bleached hair, it was vibrant for a day and washed off almost completely with the next washing. I also bought the blue color and did the same. Doesn't last and shouldn't be washing out within 2x of washing. Waste of money

I have used this color for many years. It seemed to be the most Vibrant reddish color. It used to have alot of shine, after I used it. Here lately, it's not as vibrant as usual and not as shiny. I can't figure out why. I use it the same as I always have.

I will be buying this product again in multiple colors again

I have been useing Arctic Fox Aquamarine for the last 10 months. After a disaster with another brand. Hands downI love it! I am also a Licensed Cosmetologist, that being said this product is AMAZING, but you have to know a little something about hair coloring products/color theory. This is a SEMI-permanent hair color, meaning you will have to pre-lighten your hair if you want the best results as far as the color, and you may have to do 2 rounds of coloring. If you are scared of bleach go to your hairdresser and have them lighten your hair. If you want the color to stay you should be washing your hair hair once a week with a cleansing shampoo, or a shampoo that correlates with your hair color. Such as I use a blue balance shampoo and conditioner from Joico to keep the vibrant color in my hair. Coloring hair takes patience, maintenence, and money! If you find it gross to wash your hair only once a week or have hair that produces too much oil then you'll have to color your hair more often. I color my hair once a month. Bottom line I love this color and I reccomend it to anyone! It makes your hair nice and soft. Ps. If you do not like fragrance then this product is probably not the best for you. PSS. I'm not sure on the darker colors but I'm positive you'll have to have the same type of possess to get the best color!

This product was invisible on my gray hair. I even used heat as recommended. I would not purchase again. Waste of my time and money.

I bought transylvania thinking it was black. I had blonde strands framing my face and the rest of my hair is natural mousy brown. It turned deep navy blue on the blonde bits and almost black over my natural color. It does fade very quickly and the navy blue faded to a lovely cyan and purple mix - i actually got a lot of compliments when it faded and liked how it looked. HOWEVER - my hair has started shedding like never before. Like, a concerning amount. I have the reason for it boiled down to either the fact i donate plasma twice a week, the discontinued nym rice water shampoo and conditioner ive been using (too mych protein) or this dye, which is HEAVILY fragranced and could have upset my scalp health. Or a combination of the three. My hair is thick and wavy/curly and i dont use any heat styling; i was using the shampoo and conditioner and donating plasma for months before i started using this dye and thats when the shedding started. Tl;dr: If you have thin or fragile hair, or want a dye to last longer than a few shampoo cycles, i would use a different dye. Also, i am not a hair stylist or cosmetologist, my experience is based on my diy at home job with no consultation from any experts.

I had to switch brands because Punky Color stopped making the color I was using. This was a just ok substitute. Despite bleaching my hair to level 10, this color was patchy. It barely took in some spots. Where it did take, it was not as rich as my old brand. Don't get me wrong. This was ok. I did really like how easy it was to clean up. It was easy to work with. I probably won't buy it again for myself, but it's not a bad product for someone who is just starting out coloring their hair.

If your favorite activity is scrubbing disgusting, cheap dye out of your bathtub for hours this is the product for you! And after reading more reviews i expect my hair to turn an equally unsavory green. Will never try other dye colors from this conpany again.

So during COVID, I got bored with my hair and eventually decided to try color. I'd gotten lightened and my underside done in purple in high school years ago, but didn't want to bleach my hair again because 1) my hair is fine and delicate, I didn't want to risk damaging it; and 2) it was still locked down, and I had moved to a new city so finding a salon was … challenging. I eventually settled on trying Overtone, and after a few colors fell in love with their Pink for Brown color. Months later I was shopping for my wedding dress, and my Mom and Step-Sister said the pink looked amazing with my gown. So I stayed pink for over a year for the wedding. It is been a few months now, and I'm once again looking for a change. I like Overtone's pink but keeping up with it is expensive… and turning my shower pink. So, I started looking for alternatives that hopefully won't wash out as easily. After weeks of research, I settled on trying Arctic Fox. I picked up the Electric Paradice. I knew the lighter Frose pink would not show on my hair, and worried about if the darker Vergin Pink ended up not working it would be harder to fix. I washed my hair the night before so it would be clean and dry, as per the directions. And gave my hair a gentle comb-through to make sure the color was distributed well. Covered in a plastic shower cap, and used the blow dryer for about 15 minutes before waiting out the rest of the time, and rinsing with not-quite cold water. You can kind of tell the color is there on my roots where there wasn't much previous color left over. Looking closely it ended up a sort of subtle strawberry-blond, which Im not unhappy with (strawberry is cute) but it's not what I ultimately want. The pink-stained parts from my old Overtone look a bit brighter. And the very ends where the pink was most faded took on a nice sort of rose gold look. In all, it looks to have brightened what was already there but is too subtle to really show where there wasn't any pink before. So looks like Im going to need to lighten my hair, or try a more vibrant pink next time. No idea how well the color will keep over time (or if I'll be able to tell!).

The first and second photo is the day I dyed it in different lighting. The third is almost exactly two months later. I also wash my hair pretty regularly and use hot water.
