I completly cut my hair to a pixie cut (shoulder length before) due to hair loss from a major surgery I have done. I have been using Shea Moisture since my first chop (7 years) but recently it made my hair drier than usual and more tangled. I was looking through Ulta for a different product and notice this brand. As every curl doctor (yourself), you always look up the brand before buying to make sure it's good for us curls. I saw they have a detox scalp cleanser and I was like "YES I NEED IT" since I have very dry, itchy scalp. Let me tell you, THIS IS Amazing. I've started using this product since my chop (July 2020) and my hair is past my ear (when straighten, I have very shrinkage curls) and it's only February 2021. I have a wash routine that is different from normal wash routine (or maybe not). I do not use shampoo or conditioner weekly since I have dry itchy scalp. I clarify once a month and cowash my hair every week. I also do a hair mask leave in every second week of the month. Let me tell you, this routine makes my hair thick and I don't see dandruff as much as before. Overly shampooing can cause dry scalp (depending on condition of hair) since you are ripping away the nutrients from the scalp and hair loss. For the people who says their hair fall out: REMEMBER this is a CLARIFYING treatment not your usual shampoo and conditioner. You only use this product once a month NOT every week. Overly Clarifying your hair can cause hair loss and increase in shedding.Most Helpful Critical ReviewI wanted to love this but I am left concernedI turned to this after experiencing problems with another popular curly hair brand. I've been using this for about a month now (washing once a week). The smell of the first two steps is really nice. The third step is minty and leaves almost a 'cooling' sensation which is uncomfortable if left on too long. You are supposed to detangle with the first step but the product doesn't offer much slip meaning you really have to be gentle and it takes longer to detangle. The second step has the right idea but I don't think it cleans as well as it says it does. I often still find residue on my scalp after using and end up having to use a different clarifying treatment before. The third step is a thick conditioner that focuses more on soothing than on conditioning as it does not apply super smooth and my hair doesn't feel super soft afterward. I also noticed a LOT of hair loss in the shower. More so than usual. I can also feel how thin my hair is getting which is concerning. My scalp is also becoming more sensitive.
