The first time I did just a test spot, but forgot to wash it off. I was thankful that it didn't turn too dark. But with the full application I definitely made sure to wash off after an hour or two. I applied with my hand, which has seemed to work good. I was nervous that I won't have discoloration on my hands but have not had any, as long as I washed my hands right after applying. With this product- it was hard to tell if it was being applied evenly, because the tanner is transparent when rubbed in. I also tried to make sure to overlay the application of the tanner for better results. But you can tell the next day how well you applied it, I definitely missed some spots and went a little too heavy in others. But for the first time applying the tanner- I was pretty impressed. Next time I plan to pay a little more attention to how much and where I apply it for better results. I feel as if the "tan" is similar to my natural tan, and doesn't look orange or as if I had used a self tanner. With the full body application of the product, I did not have any issues with transferring of the tanner onto my clothes. Also the scent was subtle even after hours of being on, which reminded me of a scent similar to that of sun tanning oil. The only downfall with this product is that I did feel a slight residual "sticky" like feeling until I showered to wash it off. However, once showered I didn't feel the residual product on my skin at all. Overall I think this is a really nice self tanner! I started using over a week ago and still have a slight tan!Most Helpful Critical ReviewVery disappointing!I tried this product at least 5 times before writing this review because I wanted to love it so bad!! I self tan at least once a week and have tried many different products. I was so excited to try after many good reviews but am so sad at the outcome! Good color and application but leaves AWFUL peeling and unevenness after a day of having it on. As I said, I tried this many times before leaving this review making sure I was properly exfoliated and it still peeled off horribly. I have never had this happen with any other self tan I've used. I have to exfoliate it off after 2 days maximum so it is just not worth it. I do love the tanologist face spray and the drops are decent but this is such a disappointment. I use a thin lotion all over my body and extra on knees, elbows, hands and feet before application. This keeps everything looking seamless and natural. Theres no guide color to this mousse but it is not necessary, it applies beautifully. It dries quickly and isnt sticky. Also doesnt trabsfer. The color is beautiful, not too orange or green. If you prep and use it correctly with a mitt it gives a really good natural color, very even and one of the least smelly sunless products I've ever used. I can't stand the smell of tanning sprays and this definitely is better than most and any smell there is seems to fade quickly. Price point is pretty good too. I have not experienced any streaks or dark splotches. I always exfoliate when showering. I also apply organic almond oil immediately before application. I think I prefer a product that goes on with some pigment instead of being clear. The color is perfect for fair skin.
