He's had the same spots above one eyebrow for the past couple of months that haven't gone away despite his skincare regimen, and I have hormonal birth control cystic acne below my ear along the jawline that hasn't gone away in the past year now. 1ST USE: It did sting a bit. It mostly stung on pimples but a slight tingling sensation happened in areas with larger pores as well. Nothing uncomfortable, it didn't feel like a bad reaction at all. That sensation quickly went away after we applied our serum. 2ND USE: Hardly any stinging at all and it was only in pinpoint areas this time. Went away even faster. WE BOTH SAW MAJOR RESULTS AFTER 3 USES: Bumps were receding, redness was fading, and skin was overall clearing up. Even areas I wasn't originally using this for were looking better! AFTER 1 WEEK: Not only do we not have pimples, but our pores seem way smaller as well! Both of us have the best-looking skin we've ever had!! AFTER A STRESSFUL BREAKOUT: Tuesday this week (after picking) my skin looked like it was breaking out. Thursday, just 2 DAYS later, the texture is back to being smooth and just has a couple of scabs that are healing over. *** Instead of stubborn cystic acne along the jaw, I had a far more normalized breakout with 2 or 3 minor pimples. I used a cheap pore-clearing wash off mask that in the past, has done nothing for my (cystic) jawline breakouts and some acne patches on the few spots before bed to speed up the recovery. On cystic acne, they did nothing, but on pimples, they work like a charm! ***Normally it would take a full week of A+ skincare habits to calm down the inflammation and redness, this time it only took a couple of days to clear it up completely!! It seems my hormonal cystic birth control acne, which I've actively been fighting against for the past year with no progress, is suddenly, after less than 2 weeks of using this toner, a thing of the past!?Most Helpful Critical ReviewCause horrifying breakouts, used over a full bottleI used over a full bottle of this product. I have stubborn deep-seated acne, not a whole lot of it, but a pimple here and there usually on my forehead, sides of my face, chin and jaw line, probably from touching my face too much. I'm 40 and have had this issue since I was a teen. I had used Dermalogica products, especially the booster with hydrogen peroxide, but that was discontinued so I went on the hunt for something new. My skin also seems to do very well with exfoliation and peels, but I'm very sensitive to moisturizers as all but Dermalogica's Active Moise make my face feel sticky and sweaty. I tried this product as my main acne control and after the first week I thought my skin was looking better. Then came the little bumps and cystic acne. I tried to convince myself this was just a purge and I was actually excited to maybe get rid of some of the deeper acne that is hard to see but you can feel that will stick around for weeks at a time. After a full bottle, 2 months later, the acne kept getting worse and was painful. I tried using the product less than daily to no avail. My skin started healing when I completely stopped using it and went with Boscia's clearing cleanser and toner (my skin has never looked this good, maskne excluded). This product seems to work for lots of people, so try it if you think you'll like it (no worries with Ulta's exceptional return policy), but if your skin gets worse, I wouldn't let it go past 5 weeks before stopping and returning it.Reviewed by 716 customersCan't do without it5Katie Mae from Vienna, WVI love this product. I am not crazy about the price point so I have searched for a dupe, but there is no other that compares. So many good ingredients. I have 3 extras right now just in case because I fear since I love it so much it'll be discontinued! I have sebaceous hyperplasia and I can't afford more expensive treatments at the moment so I manage as best I can. Carbon Theory products help control the oil and at least reduce the appearance of the hyperplasia bumps. My forehead is covered in acne scars and pimples and it is very oily, ive been searching for something that does not burn the heck out of my face, i have extremly sensitive skin, and after 1 night of using this my forehead stopped looking so irritated, it did burn first putting it on but that was probably because I have a few recently popped pimples.
