I'm a hairstylist and have had my experience with almost all brands of flat irons. I have found the brand ION to be my favorite because of the heat deliverance. I have be looking for a larger iron to speed up my hair routine. This flat iron is magically. Just buy it! The only thing I don't like is that the design does not have a clap to close the plates for storing. It's a large iron so it needs it. I give it 4.5 stars because of that.Most Helpful Critical ReviewBurns hairAt first try I was impressed with how nice it looked and quick I was able straighten but then a few days later I went in for a hair trim ( healthy hair) used my iron a few times after and my hair has been breaking non stop all over 😭😭😭😭 I just got a hair cut and now this. It fried my hair in just a few weeks at a temp of 320 ( I have thick hair) this shouldn't have happened and never has before . Back to GHD! It was terrible. Akso, I thought it was kind of hokey with the claim of the lava particles. Well, something works. My hair comes out smooth, straight and shiny. I can get great results on a lower temperature. The handle does get warm close to the plates, but you really shouldn't hold it to close to the plates. I have tried 2 different Paul Mitchell models, 2 different BabylissPro models, and the GHD 2" iron. They did not perform well, at all. It heats up fast. Works well. Has nice big plates. Plates are smooth and don't snag hair. I had 3 of the original/classic CHI straighteners and none of them last more than a year. I gave up on CHI. Then years later they came out with this one and I figured I would give them one more try and I love it! Still working great 2 years later! My only complaint is the cord gets all twisted after awhile and doesn't stay flat and smooth like all my other tools. It's a very long cord so when it gets twisted it tangles easier and then makes a big mess of the cord that you have to fix to use the straightener comfortably. Otherwise, it is great! I live in Alabama where the humidity makes your hair grow ten sizes and this straightener keeps my hair straight and shiny. I haven't noticed any breakage with my hair but I also use a heat protectant. I wouldn't recommend any other straightener or be able to use another one. My hair is thick and I have a lot of it. At first, I loved this straightener and how fast it heated up. After using it for 5 months, I have to say that my hair has never been this damaged. It breaks off in small pieces. I've tried using all the heat protective treatments as well. I also use the lowest heat setting. For the price I paid and all the positive reviews, I'm really disappointed.
