I went in for something completely different, but the display got me! I had heard a little about Pattern Beauty and saw a few ads on Facebook. As a Black woman with natural hair, I am very skeptical of products because I have invested so much money in products that do not do what they promise. Once I got home, I started watching YouTube reviews and thought "Oh boy...I just spent money on something that is not going to work on my hair." Well, I was wrong! This stuff is amazing. I only tried the leave-in conditioner because I use a cowash from another Black brand. I don't even remember the last time (if ever) I have been able to finger comb my tightly-coiled (near roots) and looser curly hair. I followed the directions to use A LOT of the product and the results were amazing. It has been four days since I washed my hair and used this and it is still soft, tangle-free, and manageable. It does not look or feel dry, which is usually what happens when I use other natural hair products on my color-treated hair (I get it straightened often). I definitely think this is a brand where you have to read up on the product that is best for your hair type and follow the directions!Most Helpful Critical ReviewType 4 low porosity coilsI am SO sad this leave-in didn't work for me as I hoped and ruined my wash day... I have type 4A kinky coily hair, low porosity. This product has coconut oil, biotin, hydrolyzed vegetable protein and avocado oil in it which are all are protein ingredients that protein-sensitive coilies should be mindful of. I am protein sensitive and my hair hates coconut oil but I wanted to try this product anyway because the shampoo worked well for me. It smells slightly like floral baby oil to me but still smells fresh and pretty, scents fade on my hair so this was whatever to me. What bothered me about this product is that even on my thick kinky hair this product is way too heavy as a leave-in conditioner, I didn't feel like this spread through my hair/strands nicely and it just sat ON my hair, it was pretty thick and goopy as if it was a straight up styler, not a leave-in cream. I gave it to my mom hopefully it works on her looser curly hair but I doubt it ugh! I love Tracee and the packaging on all of these products is to die for, I don't mind splurging on hair products but I think her team needs to really sit down with someone educated on natural coily type 4 hair before marketing towards us and taking our coins. The conditioners and leave in conditioner are WAY too thick and heavy like clay, just because our hair is "rougher" doesn't mean we need extremely thick and heavy products that can barely come out of the tube or be spread on our hands. Or simply stop using type 4 girls in your ads.
