I'm Black and have a mixture of 4a, 4b and 4c hair. I have been on the market for a new detangling brush for a while. I was eyeing this Pattern Shower Brush and the Tangle Teezer line when I went to Ulta Beauty about three or four weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to get and bounced between the two brands. I really wanted something narrow, similar to my old Denman brush, but I wanted something that wouldn't tug at my hair the way the Denman did. I decided to wait a bit and then come back. I returned a week later, but forgot all about the Pattern Shower Brush. I looked at two Tangle Teezers (the Ultimate Detangler and the Naturally Curly Detangling Brush for 3c-4c Hair). I asked a store associate which one she recommended and she said the brush for 3c-4c hair, just because it actually specified what hair types it is for. I was about to walk off and buy the brush she recommended, but then she stopped me and said she wanted to show me a different one. Turns out, she really liked this one from Pattern! She said she has it and ever since she started using it, she doesn't use her old Denman brush anymore. I told her I was concerned about the Pattern brush because it reminded me of the Denman and that's what worried me a little. Not only did the Denman tug at my hair, but the part the teeth are anchored into slipped out. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I never felt like I needed a brush to do that. The associate said she tried to remove the middle part of the Pattern brush and it doesn't budge. I decided to buy the Pattern brush and used it for the first time this weekend. I detangled most of my hair with my normal shower comb, but used the brush on my ends while twisting. It didn't feel like I was tugging or pulling my hair out at all! The brush glided through my strands and the ends of my twists looked nice and curly! Love it.
The brush works extremely well in my tightly coiled hair. In the past I have used Denman D3, Denman D5, Denman Tangle Tamer, and Denman Paddle , Tangle Teezer, and Curly Solutions brushes. This has been my favorite because I prefer the color, it elongates my hair, and helps curl formation while others have separated my coils and caused major shrinkage. The Denman brush is not on the same level despite being very similar (in my opinion). Next, I love that this brush was designed so the head could be separated from the handle and the bristles can be taken out so you can remove hair, debris, and deep clean the brush. I see a lot of people claiming their brush broke because they are unaware it was intentionally designed to come apart and was not glued together. SOME PEOPLE ARE SO SILLY THEY ARE USING SUPER GLUE AND EPOXY TO HOLD THEIR "BROKEN" BRUSH TOGETHER! NO! NO! NO! You are suppose to be able to remove bristles and the pad. If it comes apart while your brushing you hair that is clearly annoying and a problem, but that does not mean the brush is broken. In contrast, I have the opposite problem, I'm having a hard time separating the brush for cleaning. There is one con to the brush though, the black paint/material on the exterior is constantly peeling and flaking. I chose this brush for many reasons including its beautiful design. Even though the flaking does not ruin the functionality, it ruins that aesthetic. The Pattern logo is peeling too. I end up with black flakes all over my hands after a session of detangling and styling my hair! UGH! For the price I hoped they would source better materials.

I have a dry bar mini lemon drop brush that I love but was looking for a full size detangling brush. I heard a lot of good reviews so I took a chance and bought this brush. What a big mistake. It felt really hard through the package but I purchased it anyway. I used it in the shower with conditioner on my hair like instructed. It is so hard the bristles don't give at all. It feels like cheap plastic. It took more hair out than any of my other brushes because it doesn't give at all . I have 3B/C hair. Not sure what this brush is good for, but i wasted my money. Will be purchasing the drybar large brush instead.

I fell in love with this brush on the first brush through. I love how long the bristles are bc they really get to the roots and its not too big or too small. But after detangling one section the back of started to slip out which made it frustrating trying to detangle. I inserted the piece in backwards and that had definitely help. I definitely would buy again and recommend this bushe if she come out with an improved one.

My hair is pretty thick and clumps up in the shower, making it difficult to get conditioner through it. This brush has helped so much without causing any additional hair fallout. Over time I'm noticing my hair isn't tangling as easy as it used to.

I was so excited to try this brush. And it's safe to say, it was a waste of hard earned money. It literally YANKS at my fragile coily hair and caused my hair to shed more than it ever had before. Stick to using your fingers. 2 stars for durable packaging.

Really liked the brush but the handle is peeling leaving black plastic all over everything. Would repurchase if that was upgraded!

The perfect brush to detangle natural hair! This is my go to styling tool for wash day. This brush smooths out every tangle. It's also good for achieving sleek hairstyles (low buns, ponytails).

So this brush worked as well as I expected it to work. It helped me to detangle in the shower. However, what I didn't expect was for it to catch all of the hair that I shedded into the base of the brush so that I didn't have to wipe up any hair afterward from the shower floor.:skin-tone-5::female_sign: No clogged drain. All I had to do was run the end of a comb through the brush to pull up the small amount of shedded hair that was there. I bought another one for my mom after I used it!

My curls were so long and defined after using this brush! The design is amazing especially when cleaning out the excess hair after use. The packaging is flawless as always !

Poor design! This brush is completely useless with its slick handle. No rubber grip, so how do you handle it with wet hands while doing your hair??? That seems like a no-brainer.

I have a lot of hair it's coily and dense. This brush doesn't just yank my hair out it actually detangles and works the product through.

When used in conjunction with the pattern comb I find this tool works great

If you use this, your hair must be made of steel. The brush is horrid and the bristles are like hard rubber. I put loads of conditioner in my hair and it still was rough and pulled my hair out. It literally hurts to use. Stick to a tangle teezer or literally anything else. I don't recommend!

So for me personally, I don't use this brush in the shower. I use it right after and it works GREAT! It really defines my curls. When using it, don't brush down. Put your products in and brush out; you'll get amazing results. This is a must have for all curly girls

With your conditioner and this wonderful brush my scalp is happy. I am able to brush through my hair without pulling it all out. And my curls are plump and lovely

Great investment! The grip is just right to get through my gate and distribute my selling products. Very good at defining my curls

This is the only hair brush that has not broken while trying to detangle my curls from all of it knots. It's very sturdy!

My hair is Long, very fine with 4C texture. YOU KNOW I GREW UP IN FEAR OF A BRUSH. I was tentative to use the shower brush but couldn't resist. I love :two_hearts: it. Small sections, drenched with water plus the detangling nectar. Makes detangling faster and easier without a lot of pulling.
