I was afraid that because this brand was formulated for type 3/4 hair that this conditioner would be too heavy or weigh my hair down. I thought the medium conditioner might be a better choice for my hair type, but "heavy" is the only option in the travel set, so I gave it a try. I used the hydration shampoo from the travel kit first, then this heavy conditioner. I used it like I would a deep conditioner - I let it sit on my hair for 5 minutes before rinsing it completely out. It rinsed out cleanly, but I could tell my hair was moisturized. I followed it with the leave-in conditioner, also from the travel kit. I did not use a styler afterward and I air dried. These products gave me great waves and even a few spirals, and I never get good spirals without a styling product! Also my hair is now so super shiny and so soft! Not weighed down at all! My hair is naturally strawberry blonde, and if a product is too heavy, my blonde will immediately look dark and dirty. Not today! My hair looks so light and shiny and clean! I can't stop touching it! I don't understand some of the other bad reviews on Ulta for this brand, saying the products leave the hair greasy. That was not my experience at all! The only negative I have found is that the heavy conditioner did not have a lot of slip for detangling. The leave-in conditioner had much better slip for me. I love these products and I hope Pattern comes out with stylers soon!Most Helpful Critical ReviewDon't buy this productI used this product after the shampoo. I left the conditioner on for 10 minutes after working it in and it was still a struggle. I generally have no issue detangling my hair and it takes little time. After using both products my hair felt dry and still tangled mess. I will not buy again and do not recommend. I think this conditioner gets a bad rap from folks who don't condition properly. Texture and density play a part, but you also have to use WATER. The thicker/denser the hair, the more water you'll need. This stuff is thiiiiick so apply and add water and you'll be able to comb/finger detangle. This isn't something you can just slather in your hair. I have dense hair with fine strands, and I've had no issue using this conditioner. I loved the unique smell. I loved that the product was so thick. It was very good for detangling. I wet my hair and generously finger-combed the product through my hair. I let it sit for longer than 10 minutes. When I washed my hair, it was so easy to manage. I tried to finger detangle with it, but found there wasn't much slip. Smells good, like cucumber, and the smell lasts. I chose it over other products because I'm allergic to coconut oil and many hair care products give me a rash on my hands and scalp. Other conditioners I can feel once I wash it out drying out my hair. This was not the case. It was thick but I like that and it easily coated my hair.
