Better than expected! I'd been waiting for this to be available and got so lucky in November when was back in stock. I purchased three bottles hoping I'd fall in love with it as much as my other TO products. Well, let me tell you...…. I'd been using Sunday Riley Luna for a year and was pretty happy with it. UNTIL I tried Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane . It was impossible not to note the differences. First - WHY SR uses artificial dye is ???? I also noted how quickly the Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane absorbs, unlike other Retinol products I've used (a LOT!). I kid you not, within two weeks I noticed that the fine lines around my eyes (yes, I do use it around my eye area.... shhhh! Don't tell DECIEM!). These lines had clearly softened and weren't quite the same length horizontally. The pores on my 52 yr old nose appeared less deep. I also use this around my upper lip and those lines as well weren't as pronounced. So, here sits my $$$ Luna oil being passed over for a product not even 1/4 of the price. I'm so happy that after 9 months of waiting I finally got my hands (well, face) on my beloved Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane ! No going back, just looking ahead to my best skin - thanx to TO!
Before I bought this product I was using the Granactive Retinoid 2% in emulsion and I really loved it. (It was like milk on my skin and super nourishing). It was working well so I wanted to increase the strength. Unfortunately, there isn't 5% in emulsion, so I took the one in squalane.
I knew that there was oil in it but I didn't realise that it was THAT oily.. it sat very heavily on my skin and made me break out. It didn't absorb well, and overall I was very unhappy with how it felt. I stopped using it very quickly, and I didn't see the point of trying to force myself to use something that I didn't feel good with... :(
So definitely keep that in mind if you don't like oil on your face!
Please DECIEM, can you do the 5% in emulsion ?
(There was no irritation though - which is a plus point, but I cat' use it so......)

I started my retinol journey using Ordinary .5% then 2% and now I have upgraded to this one. I find it really effective. My skin looks radiant. Yes its greasy at first but your skin will soak it up.

I am in my forties and was using the 2% in Emulsion for a few years, but lately my age was showing and the skin underneath my eye along my cheek and nasolabial folds was looking crepey. I started seriously considering some pricey dermatology clinic stuff. After switching to this, no need! My skin looks incredibly good. The texture is definitely oily. I use four drops at night after a niacinamide serum, and I massage it in as well as I can. I can't say it feels like it sinks in. It feels pretty greasy. But my skin tends to dryness, so I'm used to massaging oils into my face at bedtime. I apply a simple moisturizer over this, also massaged in, and a few drops of marula oil, because like I said I'm dry. In the morning I glow and my skin texture is plump and smooth. This is what retinoids are for!

Best Ordinary product ever! It takes a while for your skin to get used to it so some purging occurs at first. I use it nightly and can't live without! a must for cystic acne

I used to use the 2% emulsion and i loved that one so much but decided to up the strength for quicker results. This one is ok. I say that because it just sits on your skin, which stays oily. I feel like it doesn't absorb and just rubs onto my pillow. Even after using the same moisturizer i always do, it just doesn't absorb. I know squalene is oily and this product contains no water but it's ridiculous how it just doesn't absorb. I feel like that might be why i suddenly starting break out in random places all over my face. I will be going back to the 2% emulsion because that one worked and absorbed into my skin will.

I have used for a couple of years. It is an exceptional product and is super affordable.

I used the 2% in emulsion, which is a good product. After finishing that bottle, I tried this one and yuck! So oily and my skin can never absorb it, it just sits on top of it the whole night. I don't feel the active ingredient can penetrate into my skin, hence I don't feel or see any result.

OK so I've never been one to write a review, but if I don't I'm doing Deciem a disservice, this is week 7 of me religiously using this Retinoid every night apart from once a week when I use the Glycolic acid to exfoliate, admittedly I have a strict skincare routine that I follow to a T with Buffet morning and night and Niacinamide also but I swear this Retinoid has softened my lip lines so much in 7 weeks that I can't believe it, if I could shout from the rooftops I would and I'm going to add a before pic taken in April and one from today, No filters used, BTW I'm 48 and was a vape user which caused those god awful lip lines, I stopped using it about 9 months ago

It takes me way longer to get through this bottle than 3 weeks (as recommended). It loses most of its efficacy after 2 weeks. Such a waste of money and resources. I wish they sold a powder like they do for the Vitamin C so I can mix up small batches. Will have to find from a different brand.

Was too oily but then I used it maybe once a week and it made a big difference in my skin. It was softer, smoother, and seemed to be reducing wrinkles. Loved waking with fresh beautiful skin. It's not something for me to use daily but once or twice a week. Great value too.

I Purchased this not realizing the side effects. Please look this up online. Start with a 2% or with the peter Thomas Roth 1.5%. I watched a YouTube video and did exactly what they said. I used five drops of this on my face and neck and I was having panic attacks and I could not sleep.

..and what it does to my skin. It literally made all my dark spots (appears during the summer) vanish from my cheeks and upper lip. But now, during the winter months, I use a bit lighter serum, and I noticed that the retinoid had gone from yellow to blue colour. Is It oxidized and gone bad? It is also gone out of stock! Hopefully I can get a new one before next summer! Also, a smaller bottle might be a bit more convenient, since it didn't seem to last so long..

It took about 2 weeks to adapt to about everyday use for me. If I used it too much I could feel the dryness settle in, but at this point I can use it almost every day, and I do because this product gives me such smooth, even skin. I've been using skincare products for about a year and have more or less tamed all my breakouts, and the retinol here has been great at reducing scarring and improving the speed at which I'm recovering from any breakouts. While redness is still fading after about 2 months of use, I have to say this product makes me wake up with a dreamy smooth face. The oil suspension used does leave my face a little shiny, but it absorbs after like 10 or or so minutes, and I think it feels very moisturizing. It is slightly greasy but I actually do not mind at all because the trade off of it is so good. I also can't really feel it after a moisturizer goes over it. While onboarding it to my regime, I did notice very very slight drying, but find that I adapted quickly. (This was also my first retinol ever, so the granactive claim of being less irritating may be holding true, especially since this is the maximum strength granactive retinol offered.

I've been using this for years now. I love it. The only negative is that it regularly goes out of stock. (Including pre covid & pre shortages.) Seems like they could plan better to avoid this.

I've been using this for 4 months and there is no visible difference to my skin. I'm 40 till have fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness under my eyes and redness. It's made zero difference. Seems like another company trying to HYPE up products that don't work.

For a while now, I've been gradually introducing retinoids into my routine and some six months ago I switched from Granacive Redinoid 2% to 5%. It was the biggest difference I've seen on my skin proably EVER. I remembr the first morning, I looked in the mirror and my face just looke better. Brighter. Thighter. Can't explain it. More radiant. Since then I've been using it religiously and I keep seeing the great results. Recently I came accross an old video of myself from when I was 22 and had this deep line in the middle of my forehead that I thought would stay there forever and made me miserable. I'm almost 28 now and it's gone. I knew that my skin has improved but it took seeing a side-by-side to realize just how much. I'm also a skin-picker and this product really speeds up the recovery in terms of dark spots that stay behind. Also, it doesn't break my out at all, which I struggled with when using some smaller percentages of retinol in squalane. Can't explain it.
My only down side is the size of the bottle. I refrigerate it and use it quite often, but I'm not able to use the entire thing before it loses its potency. It sucks having to throw away almost half a bottle every time. Then, when I open a fresh bottle I see the diffrence in strength after the fist use. I've seen that a lot of people have brought up this concern and I agree. I think that you guys should for sure think about smaller packaging for sure.

I have extremely reactionary skin but this is one of the few products I've ever used that I can quickly see positive results. I usually don't see much of a change in my skin when using products unless i have a very negative reaction. I use it at night over some other oils because my skin is too sensitive for heavy moisturizers. The next morning my skin looks calmer and any dead or dry skin is gone.

I really like this on my dry and sensitive skin! Please dont discontinue it's great! - is this the highest strength possible? Wondering if you could do more strength in squalane too

I just used this product for the first time after finishing my bottle of the granactive retinoid 2% in squalane. I washed my face with the squalane cleanser, a gel cleanser from La Roche Posay, and then used the ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 and niacinamide 10% + zinc serums, gave it a couple minutes between each to let them soak in. Then I applied my refrigerated granactive retinoid. It was entirely different than the 2% formulation. I immediately noticed it is significantly more watery, almost completely like water, did not have the same color as the 2% formulation, and also has a distinct rosemary smell. I don't mind the last one but it does make me wonder why there are so many significant differences. As I applied I could tell it was doing something to my skin as I felt it creating this pilling type side product, either from the retinoid itself, my skin, or somehow one of the previous products. It was not at all pleasant to apply. I am now allowing it the time it needs to sit before I apply my moisturizer as I write this, but in terms of application and product consistency I am thoroughly unimpressed. I absolutely love my other products from The Ordinary, but this one seemingly needs some work.
