I have naturally thick, wavy hair and have always preferred to air dry over using a blow dryer. Every time I'd use a blow dryer, my hair would get so frizzy and fuzzy, no matter what heat protector I used. I've tried multiple times using different brushes and I'd always end up with the same results. I also should mention that I have weak muscles and problems with my nerves so standing for 30-45 minutes to fail at a blow out is nothing but a waste of time. I've been hearing about the hot air brushes from Revlon and John Frieda for over a year and have been wanting one so bad! So this year, I decided to buy myself one for my birthday! Sadly, my local Ulta was sold out of the Revlon One-Step Volumizer and obviously didn't carry the John Frieda Volume Shine. I didn't want to wait to order either so I started looking at the Bed Head Blow Out Freak. It's the same price as the one by Revlon and seemed pretty similar. However, I felt unsure so I asked for help. I'm so glad I did, I was lead to the hot air brushes and was enthusiastically recommended either the Revlon or this one. As I said, they were sold out of the former, so I decided to get the latter. It was about $15 more, which kind of set me off from it. But with the "real talk" the sales woman had with me, she had me sold. I LOVE this tool. I can easily and confidently create a smooth blow out with so pain or strain!
I purchased this cautiously optimistic from the hundreds of reviews I read and online YouTube videos I watched. I was hoping that this could be that magic tool to finally calm my wavy, frizzy hair. This arrived today and here's my experience. First my hair type is blonde, shoulder-length, frizzy and wavy and is colored every 8-12 weeks. I used DreamCoat spray and Caviar blowout creme to help with the frizz and was hopeful this combination in addition to this styling dryer would give me the straight, frizz-free results so many others had. I sectioned my hair and after a couple of minutes I noticed how unbelievably hot this dryer gets. This dryer is more of an oval shape than the circular shape I expected. I had this set on the highest setting to get the straight results I wanted. This dryer has hot air blowing fiercely all over the barrel. My bathroom is small and doesn't have windows and I had to have the door open and a fan on in addition to the air conditioning it became that hot. The hot air blew against my face when drying the sides of my hair and it was uncomfortable. I stopped partway through just to be able to cool down. Also, this dryer is huge, almost too big. My hair is shoulder length and this dryer felt too large for my hair. It was difficult to get to the roots of my hair because this dryer was that large. It is also very uncomfortable to hold for long period of time. I noticed when I set it down after a few minutes to answer a text, my hand was numb from holding it and it was difficult to move my fingers to text my daughter back. That feeling eventually went away. As a result, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has hand or wrist issues. It was also difficult for me to dry the back of my hair because this dryer was so large and I had trouble due to its size getting close enough to the roots in the back of my head and after I finished I realized there were parts still not dry. I still had to go over my hair with my straightener.

I wanted to wait a while to write a review to make sure I truly loved it. I have had this brush for about 2 years, and it is my go-to. for reference, I have very thick hair, and it is a few inches below my shoulders. With this brush, I can dry and style my hair almost immediately after my shower, and it takes right at 10-15 minutes. With my Dry Bar blow dryer and barrel brush, that takes me at least 30 minutes. Yes, I will agree it is a little noisy, but what else would you expect from a blow dryer right next to your ear.... I have bought this as gifts for family members and a few girlfriends who tried it out on trips and loved it as well, I would say if you are on the fence, BUY IT! (This isn't a paid post, but if yall wanna sponsor me, I'm here for it ;)

I absolutely loved it, until it stopped working after just a few months. I only used it once a week and it just stopped working, so unfortunate.

I bought this because I thought it would be better to use than flat ironing my hair all the time. Boy! Was I wrong. My hairdresser immediately knew I was using some type of dryer brush. This damage all my ends. I notice my hair was not growing. Don't buy

I have curly hair and was skeptical to get this because I didn't think it would save time/give a better result than blow drying with a brush. I was so wrong! It took about 25-30 for me with damp hair and the results were insane! I'm so happy I now have an all in one product and don't even need an iron or straightener!

Disappointed after it didn't want to turn on. Only used it a handful of times.

Oh gosh where to begin? This blow dryer gets way too hot and barely dries my hair. I don't know if it stopped working but I barely feel the air blow out of it. My hair still feels damp after blow drying it. I bought it in March. It's damaged my hair horribly. My ends are brittle and broken off. I am extremely upset over the damaged it has caused my hair. My hair was actually healthy and longer than it's ever been in it's natural state. It is now broken off, short and thin. I can't even put it in a pony tail anymore because of the damage this blow dryer caused. I have to wear scarves and wigs. The dryer gets so hot that it was straightening some parts of my hair bone straight. The bristles bend. The bristles also have that bulb on the end and we all know that isn't afro hair friendly. Don't buy this if you have fine hair natural hair. Don't buy if your hair is fine period, and for anyone else I would proceed with caution. This dryer isn't good for black hair. I should've bought the Revlon dryer instead, but I figured this brand would've been better for black hair.

It's a great product especially for longer hair. It worked great on my hair and I'm very satisfied.

The tool itself works great. I love how my hair looks after using it. The one problem is the noise it makes so horrible. You can hear it across my entire house. The horrible sound almost makes it not worth using.

I wish I would have found this tool before spending money trying to find the right product to give more volume and lift at the crown. Try this tool if your hair is thinner at the top/crown. It is easy to use and not heavy or awkward when using. It is loud when on high but I have great results using the tool on low power. The cool/cold feature is a great addition. It gives amazing results on next day hair. I don't have to use my flat iron as much or at all.

It's a five star in the beginning. I loved it. Then less than one year the heat stopped. I asked Ulta if I could take it back and they said no. So disappointed. It worked great but the life expectancy on it was very short lived.

I love this tool! I got one for Christmas several years ago & it just finally gave out. I went & bought a new one because I love it so much. It still makes my roots a little frizzy, but that usually resolves after the hair sets. It's awkward to use, but easier than a brush & hair dryer. It's also lighter than most hair dryers. Definitely would recommend this!

I received this is as a gift and let me just say it blows away the revlon one-step blowout brush. This one leaves my hair so much shinier and less frizzy. It dries my hair super fast and gives me lots of volume and body that lasts for days. I seriously have never been this happy with a hair tool before. Plus it's nice to look at, the gold and black color feels so luxe.

I'll start by saying I used this for the first time today. If something changes, I'll update my review. I'm super impressed with this tool. I have very porous hair that takes a long time to dry, but it dried in no time using this. When I use a regular blow dryer and round brush, I'm left with a some frizziness and fly always and need to touch up with a flat iron, but not the case with this. My hair looked like spun gold when I was done! The brush provides just the right amount of tension to get a smooth finish but did not pull on my hair in the least bit. None of my hair strands got caught in the brush like what typically happens when blow drying with a round brush. I do wish there was a way to adjust the heat setting because I don't love using high heat on my hair but I'll monitor my hair for damage as I continue to use this hair dryer brush. Bottom line, I'm thrilled with this product.

This worked well while it lasted, but just died - I haven't even had it one year. I used it maybe 15-20 times total? Waste of money. And it's heavy - I don't recommend!

This device is too heavy and even worse, very very loud. It didn't dry the hair as expected for all the noise it causes. Definitely not worth it.

With my tingly hands I need to have one process for blowdrying, straightening and waving my hair. This does all three in one session. Dry in sections, tops then bottoms, then go over again while twirling the brush and pulling down and off the ends of the hair. It dries the hair in a coil which can be shaken out to a nice beachy wave!

If I am not mistaken, I have used this one step hair dryer for 2+ years. I got it for free through an Allure magazine subscription, or the beauty box. I can't remember! Either way, this works far better than hair dryers for me. I have naturally curly (more so wavy) hair and this creates the smooth, straight, and shiny hair I strive for, especially on my bangs. It's easy to create a natural, face-framing look. I do not think it is damaging, but I always use a heat protectant, spraying in sections. I use CHI shampoo, conditioner, straight cream stuff (lol), and hair protectant.

The dryer worked well while it lasted. Bought 5 months ago and now it has stopped blowing air through the brush. For the price I paid I would expect the dryer to last a lot longer. I will be looking for another brand!

I bought this for my sister almost 3 years ago to the date. It died on her tonight after 2X a week usage. Big bummer. I guess I'll be switching her to the Conair one since I've had it longer and it's still going strong.

Easy to use. I have frizzy hair. I am incredibly impressed by the results. Considering the results, the price, is an absolute steal. only problem is storage... But I will figure it out... seems like finding a way to hang it would.work best, so the bristles don't bend and get damaged. Other than this minor inconvenience, THIS TOOL IS A MUST BUY!!!

I have waist length thick curly hair and this gadget works great! I'm completely satisfied and happy with my purchase!
