I have dermatomyositis- an auto immune condition that attacks the skin and more.
I had some brownish, atrophied, scaly patches that looked almost like melasma from it all over my face and have been trying a million diff products for years to fade them and smooth the skin.
This is it! Within a few weeks the patches have probably gotten about 30-40% lighter. The texture difference between the patches and healthy skin is almost nothing now. I can use regular makeup again!
My drs told me the only thing that would fix my skin would be laser treatments, but that i couldn't do those until my DM is totally controlled which requires some very scary drugs I'm not keen on using, especially since my only symptoms are cosmetic.
One note- the silicone in the formula makes this tricky to use w other products. spacing out application times as long as possible helps, and keeping the regimen simple. Thanks Deciem!
I did not notice that anyone had the same problems as me after using his vit. C suspension, so maybe you have an explanation to reaction that happens. After applying the vit C.suspension in the evening, the next morning my hands starts to produce strange smell (like rust) and starting to have orange color. If I continue with application in the following days, the smell and color will intensify. I try to dilute the formulation with moisturizer but it did not help. I stop using the product, but I am still wondering what is happening with my skin..

I've used this product for two days. At first, it burned, but diluting the suspension with a moisturizer definitely helps. This product changed the texture of a small patch of my face. There has been a significant difference in redness for two days of usage, but made my skin feel very dry and uneven in texture. I'll continue to use the product consistently and see where my skin is in a week or two!!

I expected more of a serum which was my fault for not researching first! It feels so greasy and dissapears quickly. My makeup looked HORRIFIC on top of it!! It looked so dry and clumpy..absolutely would not recommend this product.
On the back it says 'tingling sensation may occur' but in my experience the formula is very GRITTY and almost feels like a SCRUB when rubbed into the skin, then after my skin is irritated from the granulates it starts to burn and sting really badly like hot needles on my face.

Im 30yo, and after about a week, I noticed a massive difference in my skin!! My face was smooth, and my complexion seemed to become brighter!! Yes, it burns when you first apply. I mixed it with my CeraVe moisturizer the first two nights, then by my 6th night, it didnt burn as much! I have been recommending this to everyone!!

Honestly, I didn't like it.. thought it would be good because reviews and the price was nice. However, it doesn't pair very well with the ordinary hyaluronic acid in my opinion. It honestly burned for a bit and I thought it would get better over time. I will be returning it soon.

If this is the only product you're applying then it should be fine other than that it will pill. It's feels like a cream texture and doesn't absorb quickly.I looks like it absorbed but once I apply another product it will clump up

Really great. I noticed a significant difference in the texture of my skin in just one use

Works to brighten my skin & a container lasts a long time. Just use a little bit and applied at nighttime was best. Absorbed right away.

I'm careful about what I use on my face as I have really sensitive skin with rosacea. Turns out vitamin C is great for those with redness and rosacea. I used a bit mixed with my Cerave moisturizer last night. This morning my skin was glowing & happy

My 22 yr old daughter first introduced me to this, I didn't even know what it was but as soon as I tried it I was a bit worried as it stung when I put it on but when it passed my skin looked so much smoother and brighter and I loved the soft feel of my skin, so I kept using it as a primer before my makeup application and I wouldn't be without it now

I am giving the ordinary a try. The texture of it is terrible. It rips all off if you apply it on top of any serum. If you add sunscree as one would imagine youd do cause its used in the AM it gets all weird and rubs of on small cream particles. It stings bad and gave me red blotches. So I washed it off right away as those were the instructions.

I used this product along with the Niacinamide and Hyaluronic and my skin started flaking, seemed more like an exfoliant.

Every time i use this i feel like i wake up the next day with happer, more even skin. Make sure not to get it on any broken or picked at skin because it will HURT!!

The first few times I used this product, I really liked the texture & the way it made my skin feel, but I didn't really notice that it did anything. About a week in to using it daily, I broke out pretty badly with little white heads all over my face. I was tempted to stop using it, but I kept going and I am so glad I did. The purge breakout quickly subsided & I am now left with glowing, flawless skin. I use this under ELF Holy Hydration with SPF daily.

Wanted to love it, I used a lower percentage vitamin C serum that gave me some results and I wanted to accelerate it. I bought this few weeks ago, used it every night and some days too and I see no change in my skin whatsoever. Also it taste very sour, like strong lemon if anyone is kissing your face they should be warned…

I only used this twice and my fa e broke out in tons of tiny blackheads. No thank you. I have acne prone skin and this made it worse.

Terrible, the consistency is also annoying and doesnt smoothly spread on your skin

Im not sure if my bottle wad expired or if i was using it wrong but it absolutely burned my skin, felt like i was rubbing liquid chalk over my skin and made my skin start piling.

I bought this following the website recommendation (the full recommendation was squalane cleanser, this and niacinamide + zinc). Although this formula isn'ftfor me, the vitamin C in it is the real deal which isn't always the case in some vitamin C products.
The good: the vitamin C works! It tingles. And after a few days my skin was brighter, which is consistent with other good vitamin C products I've used before.
The not so good: the silicone just isn't for me. Its too cloggy, I got some small spots and it felt like a veil of velvet over my face which didn't sink in.
I think The Ordinary products are incredible, but in this formula I feel the silicone could be problematic for lots of people. I wouldn't buy this again, but I do appreciate the sheer strength of the vitamin C.

First, I've never used a Vitamin C product on my face, so I didn't know what to expect. I love this product. It really evened out my face. I also love that it's texture is lightweight and not greasy.

I love this and hope they never discontinue. I've been using Vitamin C for years so my skin can handle it. Previously used Cellex-C (the OG creators of Vitamin C skincare, they split and became Skinceuticals and Cellex-C.) Cellex-C is an unparalleled product but the price is ridiculous.

This product has a chalky texture that basically doesn't settle on my skin. Not great for layering with other products and definitely not under makeup. I really wanted to like the product, but unfortunately the texture is just off.

Bought this yesterday and used it last night under Tretinoin.I love the matifying formlation of this product. The best is to spread it lightly but mostly to pat it in.It is a strong formulation which i absolutelly love.I have used the Ethylated version previously but since it's oily,it doesn't work well on my oily acne prone skin.I still continue to use that one on neck and chest and on hands.Works best there. But for face this silicone one is everything i need. Thank you The Ordinary for creating wonderful affordable products!

this is the version that is smooth - they both work but it's just a matter of what you like.
they both make your skin look bright, but this is the one that is smooth to apply!
