One coat is all that I needed for gorgeously long, and dramatically dark lashes! The applicator has a wider base and a slimmer edge, perfect for those more detailed areas, and is able to coat lashes easily and quickly. This formula is not waterproof from my testing, but it does stay on well. This mascara is a great buy!Most Helpful Critical ReviewYes for curls, no for oily lidsFor starters, I have hooded, very oily lids and straight, long lashes. It is hard for me to keep a curl AND keep my mascara from smudging, so when I was given a new mascara to test, I was both curious and excited to try it out. For first impression, this mascara is a very dry and thick formula. I'm not sure if I had a defected tube, but there was barely any product on the brush and it took me many dips and swirls in the tube to get it on the brush and my lashes. On days I only applied one layer, it kept its curl but would flake off easily. On days where I applied multiple layers, I had lots of volume and curl, but it smudged easily under my eyes. After many trials, the best way I apply this on my oily lids is with a tubing mascara. 1-2 layers of this on my lashes and go over it with my loreal double extended mascara and it resulted in voluminous, lengthened lashes that kept its curl and prevented smudging on my lids. A good addition to my makeup routine. Recommend to those who want to keep a curl and those who don't have very oily lids. However, I think since I have hooded eyelids that thus tends to flake after a few hours. It works well enough and adding another layer builds up the lashes to look thicker but still separate.
