Wearing sunscreen is the most effective way to prevent against skin cancer, premature skin aging, and loss of firmness. I wear sunscreen on my face and neck every day, and I always opt for a high SPF because most people (myself included) do not apply the recommended amount of SPF to get the full protection on the product label. I usually wear mineral sunscreens because my skin is sensitive to chemical formulations and it irritates my rosacea, and also because there is some evidence to suggest that zinc oxide is beneficial for reducing the redness and irritation from acne rosacea, acne vulgaris, and papopustular rosacea. I am thirty years old and have struggled with acne, closed comedones, and now rosacea--I can't catch a break! I really enjoy this COOLA sunscreen because I can comfortably use it on my face and body, so I don't need separate products and can save money. I also enjoy how it doesn't irritate my skin and it helps cover some of the redness on my rosacea-prone skin. Fragrance-free is important to me as it is highly irritating, and I have enough red bumps and texture on skin already! I find that it wears well under makeup or on its own and it doesn't sting near my eyes. Even better, this sunscreen is reef safe, which I appreciate to help protect marine ecosystems. Of course, it does have a bit of a white cast (all mineral sunscreens do), but I don't mind because it helps cover some of my rosacea, and I also find that the cast goes away after about an hour. I know this is not ideal for everyone, particularly people of color, but if you have a lighter complexion you might consider wearing this under your color-corrector or foundation. I find that the COOLA is creamy, doesn't require much rubbing to apply, and protects me from burning. I have tried other dermatologist recommended sunscreens and have found them unbearably chalky and heavy and they don't wear well under my makeup. My only downside is the price, but considering I can use this safely on both face and body it is a good price per ounce compared to other face-specific formulas. I will definitely continue to buy as long as they continue this formula! Thanks, COOLA!
First of all, this product does not absorb well into the skin AT ALL. It's thick and sits on top like a weird paste. That being said, it made my skin look ashy and I moisturize every single day, cold and hot weather from head-to-toe. But this sunscreen made my skin look flaky and scaly. Oh, and it also made my skin feel really chalky. Just not an overall good look or feeling. To make matters worse, despite the constant ashiness, I got a massive sun burn while wearing it. I made sure to apply this to all exposed areas before going to the park just a couple of days ago. When I got home, I had ridiculous tan lines -- unattractive sunburnt ones -- all over my shoulders. And I don't even burn that much. It's so sensitive that wearing a purse on my shoulder is uncomfortable...a bra strap...even if I LIGHTLY rub it. This sunscreen was returned IMMEDIATELY after my massive burn. (I had been trying it out for about a month, but this was the first time I was ever in an area with open exposure.)

Used this on a trip to Hawaii (this is a reef safe sunscreen) - my kids used it when they went snorkeling. It does leave a white cast on skin, but that is to be expected considering the active ingredients and the high SPF. They came back from the snorkeling trip with a nice tan (we have naturally olive skin, so we tan even with sunscreen) and no burns. I use this regularly on my face to boost the SPF from my daytime moisturizer. It does not feel greasy and it doesn't appear shiny at all. There is an almost imperceptible (not visible in photographs) white cast, but I can live with that. I also use it on the backs of my hands and arms to prevent a "car tan" and it has worked well for that so far. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and I would buy it again.

Do not buy! I'm actually headed to Ulta right now to return this. It'll leave a white cast on any skin tone! And it doesn't blend into the skin no matter how much you rub it in. It's also really dry feeling. Skip this product all together.!

I gave this product one star because it does protect from the sun. But I hated everything else about it. It does not absorb it just sits on top of the skin and it's so white. It's very thick and took a long time to apply. It gets all over everything. Not just your clothes, but anything else you touch or bump into. And it is just as difficult to remove from your skin at the end of the day. I threw this product away after using it a few times.

It's terrible and I'm sad I got it. The white cast is prevalent no matter what and I have FAIR skin. I do not mind a pale hue but this is whiteface

This is the worst sunscreen I have ever tried. It has a weird, gritty texture and is so hard to rub into the skin. It's also super thick and leaves a very noticable white cast.

A truly reef-safe sunscreen for very, sensitive skin that did not leave a white cast on my dark complexion. It can get white when wet but goes away quickly as you dry. I loved it and it kept my skin soft.

I don't like the texture of the mineral sunscreen. It's too thick and difficult to put on the skin. I like the classic sunscreen much better. The scented mineral sunscreen isn't as bad, but the unscented sunscreen is even thicker.

I use this when I swim my laps and it seems to protect my skin better than any thing I have tried. It does have a white cast until you rub it in and still a bit after that but it's worth it because it totally blocks out the sun.

I'm a big fan of the mineral sunscreen. As a surfer have a need for something has both zinc and titanium, and this has both and has good water resistance, which seems to activate when it gets wet. It goes on white, so you can see if you miss any spots, but then the whiteness tends to fade, though not completely. You don't look like a ghost, but you can still see it a little bit. Highly recommended for a water resistant sunscreen

The product is okay. I wish it was more hydrating.

I and my family used this for snorkeling trips that required reef-safe sunscreens. It worked great to protect us from burning. It absorbs better than other mineral sunscreens I have used, but if you use enough to protect you according to the spf rating, you will get a white cast on your skin. I don't think any mineral sunscreen manufacturer should claim that their product is sheer, because to get the spf rating, you will generally have to apply an amount that will show up on your skin. I have sensitive skin and this product did a superb job of providing sun protection as well as a moisture barrier for my skin. I did not get a huge problem with my skin puckering after two hours of swimming in salt water. This product is expensive. I got it on sale. I would never pay full price for this. I suspect it is because of the organic ingredients (not important to me), which probably add nothing to its performance. That plus the "sheer" claim caused me to knock one star off the rating. Nonetheless, it delivers pretty solid performance as an spf 60 sunscreen.

The sunscreen is the best one I've ever used, and it provides excellent protection. I've tried many other sunscreens before this one and they were all oily which caused me to get sunburned. I went on vacation to St. Lucia, where I spent a lot of time in the sun (several hours most days), and I did not get sunburned or get a heat rashâ€"I attribute it to this sunscreen. It has a matte finish, neutral smell, and natural ingredients. The only thing I didn't like is it left a white cast (I'm black), but I'll still use it. The protection it provides outweighs the white cast. Highly recommend if you are looking for a sunscreen that provides excellent protection without the greasy feeling.

This sunscreen does not prevent against sunburns, and it is also not at all water resistant like the bottle says. Went out for a bike ride, jumped in the lake, and then rode back home. I was out for 2 hours max, and applied the sunscreen in a THICK layer at least 20 minutes before leaving the house and starting to sweat. The sunscreen texture is so thick and does not rub in all the way. Terrible white cast. Came home to a HORRIFIC sunburn across my chest and shoulders. Worst sunscreen I've ever used. Do not buy.

This lotion is light and unscented. It goes on easily and blends in well so your skin does not stay white. It's great for everyday wear, on walks and while gardening. I love it!

The product works well enough but is sold at a price point that is a total ripoff, as it is about 300% more expensive than its competition…all because you chose to titanium dioxide to the now standard zinc oxide? I don't think so…

I really like this sunscreen. It doesn't get greasy and it doesn't break out my face. I feel good about the organic ingredients and it works. This will be my brand from now on. Thanks for a great product.

Even though this is fragrance free it does have a slight scent to it. But, it is not strong or overpowering. Great for men. Sheer coverage. Easily blends in

It works great.

The first thing I noticed upon putting this on is that it has little hard chunks in it. I'm assuming it's the zinc oxide, and I'm not sure if my bottle is defective, but either way it makes this product uncomfortable to use, hard to apply and obviously unflattering as it leaves chunks on the skin that don't rub in. I did try to wear it one day and I can say it has a very mild scent and I didn't get sunburned so it has that going for it. I will not be buying this again.

I can only apply the sunscreen evenly if my skin is very hydrated before I apply. The sunscreen feels very dry and leaves a light to medium white cast.

This is such a good product. It goes on smooth and soaks in nicely without leaving any white cast. It is also very moisturizing to my skin. Definitely going to continue to buy this product!

I enjoyed this sunscreen and used the whole bottle, however, I did get dark using it. It is not strong enough for desert sun. I would give it an spf of 30 but no higher. I switched to another sunscreen after using up this bottle and my skin started to lighten again. I would not repurchase it.

worst sunscreen. thick white cast and impossible to get off. false advertised as sheer when it is very far from it.
