Well, they are! the brush that is for your brows is made out if a very coarse straw or hay that feels like those old brooms. I threw that one away upon opening this kit, I have no idea what they think it can be used for, maybe dig rocks out of the bottom of sneakers. It was so stiff I think it would scratch my face. The one that is for eyeliner is so soft it bends at the slightest touch and is very thin, aka worthless. All in all there is one brush that isn't entirely bad. These brushes are absolutely horrendous. Actual paint brushes have softer bristles than the eyebrow brush in this set, which can only actually be compared to the bristle of a broom.
