It heats up great and the heat setting buttons are placed where I don't unintentionally change them while using the iron. I waited three years for any company to make an extended plate 1.5" flat iron. Usually I buy more expensive flat irons but I had waited so long for this kind I took a gamble on this and glad I did. I will say it doesn't add shine or have the Ion reducing frizz features. Not a big deal to me. I use coconut oil on my ends to protect them and let it dry before flat ironing and it works great. These curls stay in my hair all day and loosen over the following two days for a great dry shampooed effortless look. I'm just another broke teen and I needed a flat iron for my mixed curly hair. I read the reviews and thought I found the perfect iron. Within 3 hours my hair began to curl again, and my hair smells like burnt bacon. While straightening my hair the whole house smelled horrible, something I never had experienced with another iron. Even with perfectly clean hair with no products, it catches when you run it through your hair. If you loosen your grip slightly you run the risk of your hair falling out of the iron. The plates seem to not have a smooth finish.
