To serve you better, ULTA.com will begin to process your order immediately after you click the SUBMIT ORDER button. Because our system processes orders immediately, we are unable to change or cancel an order once it is submitted.

Return Policy

HAPPY RETURNS ARE OUR STYLE

Wrong shade? Not right for your hair? We understand things happen, which is why Ulta Beauty is dedicated to making the return process beautifully simple for you. We're all about bringing you a top shopping experience from start to finish. If you're not completely satisfied with a product for any reason, just return the product to us for a full refund or exchange.

First, a few details:

  • All returns must be accompanied by all original components.
  • Lost your receipt? No problem! We are able to locate purchases made using your Ultamate Rewards Member number or ulta.com account.
  • If you are unable to return the product with its receipt and we are unable to verify the original purchase price of the product, your refund will be in the form of an in-store credit equal to the lowest selling price at which the product was sold by Ulta Beauty during the 90-day period preceding the return. Guests will be asked to provide a valid government issued ID (i.e. driver's license, state or military ID).
  • In order to offer the best shopping and product-return experience to as many guests as possible, Ulta Beauty reserves the right to limit returns if we have reason to suspect misuse of our generous Returns Policy (such as excessive returns, reseller activity, or fraud).
  • Items purchased from other retailers, dealers or resellers and not directly from Ulta Beauty are not eligible for return, refund or exchange.
HOW TO RETURN OR EXCHANGE A PRODUCT:
1. For purchases made in our stores

Simply bring the item(s) you wish to return to any Ulta Beauty store, and ask one of our associates to assist you in making a return-we'll be happy to help!

Product(s) returned within 60 days of the original purchase that include the original receipt (or can be verified in our system using your Ultamate Rewards member ID), will be fully refunded via the original form of payment. Otherwise, the refund will be made in the form of an in-store credit.

If you would like to exchange a product for the same item, no payment is required-just bring it in and you're good to go. However, if you exchange for an item at a higher price point, you will need to pay for the difference in price and sales tax. Likewise, if you exchange for a different item at a lower price point, you will receive back the difference in price and sales tax.

2. For purchases made online at www.ulta.com or using the Ulta Beauty App

An online or in-app purchase can be returned to us by mail or by bringing it to any one of our Ulta Beauty stores. Please note that shipping charges on your original order will not be refunded, unless the package was incorrectly shipped or you received defective merchandise.

Returning your online order to one of our stores

To avoid return shipping costs and speed up your refund, you may bring returned merchandise to any Ulta Beauty store.

Simply bring the item(s) you wish to return to the store with its original email order confirmation, packing slip and all original packaging materials. If you are unable to locate your email order confirmation, you can print it by logging in to your ULTA.com account, selecting order status, and then selecting the order number shown on the bottom of the packing slip. You can also access it quickly in the app.

If you return the product within 60 days of the original purchase and it's accompanied by its original email order confirmation and packing slip (or can be verified in our system using your Ultamate Rewards member ID or Ulta.com account information), you will receive your refund in the form of your original payment. However, if you originally used an online payment service (e.g., PayPal), your refund will be made to your preferred credit or debit card or issued as an in-store credit. In all other cases, the refund will be made in the form of an in-store credit.

Lose something? Online purchases returned to an Ulta Beauty store without the original email order confirmation and packing slip (or cannot otherwise be verified within our systems) are only eligible for exchanges or in-store credit at the lowest selling price at which the product was sold by Ulta Beauty during the 90-day period preceding the return.

Returning your online order by mail

To avoid return shipping costs and speed up your refund, you may return merchandise to any Ulta Beauty store (see Returning your online order to one of our Stores). However, if you choose to mail your return to Ulta Beauty, we ask that you cover the return shipping charges. We are unable to accept CODs for returned merchandise.

If you return a product within 60 days of the process date on the order packing slip, you will receive your refund in the form of your original payment. If payment was made with a store Gift Card, the refund will be issued in the form of an Ulta Beauty eGift Card.

We know you're put together, so we recommend returning the product in the same shipping carton that you received it in. Please use the return mailing label printed on the packing list included in your shipping package, and address the return package to:

Return all products to Ulta Beauty by ground-only shipping. Certain items in your order may be considered Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). Hazardous Materials include: aerosol items, some alcohol-based items, items that contain contents under pressure, and others (e.g., hairspray, nail polish and items containing flammable, volatile or corrosive chemicals). The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) requires ground-only shipment of Hazardous Materials due to air shipment restrictions and regulations.

We also recommend that you use a traceable ground shipping method (e.g. UPS or the U.S. Postal Service insured mail), so you can track your shipment back to us for a truly flawless return.

After we have processed your return and issued a refund, we'll let you know via email. You can also look up your return status online by logging into your ULTA.com account and clicking on order status. If your refund is being applied back to a bank card or credit card, expect the credit to appear on your account within 7-10 days after you receive the notification email.

RETURNED MERCHANDISE POLICY

Quality is super important to us-we take protecting the integrity of the products we sell very seriously. Ulta Beauty's policy does not permit the resale of used, damaged or expired products. Our policies, training and procedures are aimed at ensuring that only the highest quality products are sold in our stores and online. If I redeemed Ultamate Rewards Points to purchase the item I am returning, do I get my points back?

Yes, of course-you earned them! If you redeemed your rewards points to buy an item and then return that item, those points will be immediately added back to your Ultamate Rewards balance.

If you purchased multiple items in a transaction and you only return one item, you will have the proportionate number of the points added back to your Ultamate Rewards balance.

What happens to the Ultamate Rewards Points I earned when I purchased an item that I later returned?

Sorry, but Ultamate Rewards Points earned on a product that you subsequently return will be deducted from your account.

I made a purchase with a single-use coupon, but then later returned my purchase. Can I get that coupon back so I can use it again?

Unfortunately, we are unable to return the coupon code you used for your original purchase.

If I return a product with a gift receipt, can I get the money back?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you cash. However, if you return a product accompanied by a gift receipt, you can either exchange the product (see the policy above), or we can issue you an in-store credit.

  • Our Standard Shipping combines the capabilities of UPS and USPS, delivering packages to you more efficiently. UPS will deliver your package to your local post office, where your postal carrier will make the final delivery to your door or mailbox.
  • This allows packages to arrive on Saturday as well as any other business day. Tracking is still available through UPS and will indicate the estimated delivery date.
  • This shipping method is available for shipments to Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, PO Boxes and APO/FPO addresses.
  • This shipping method is the only shipping method available for shipments to U.S. Territories, PO Boxes and APO/FPO addresses.
Expedited and Premium
This shipping method is available for shipments to Continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii addresses only.

Hazardous Materials

Certain items in your order may be considered Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). International
  • Ulta.com does not ship to international addresses.
  • Guests can place order for delivery to Canada by visiting the Borderfree site at global.ulta.com. For information about Borderfree, visit shop.borderfree.com/help.
  • Some merchandise may not be available for purchase due to restrictions.
  • If items cannot be exported from the United States or imported into Canada, you'll receive notification from Borderfree.
  • International orders are not eligible for Ultamate Rewards.

Ulta Beauty Coupon and Promotion Exclusions and Restrictions

Ulta Beauty carries more than 20,000 products and over 1000 fabulous brands, but unfortunately, our coupons sometimes exclude a small number of these products and brands. We wish we could extend these special offers far and wide on all of the products and services we offer, but we are often limited by reasons beyond our control. Please know we are always looking for opportunities to provide added value and the best prices available to our customers and thank you for your understanding.

Please note the following list of exclusions and restrictions that generally apply to ULTA coupons:

  • Excludes Beauty Services from The Salon, Dermalogica Skin Bar and Benefit Brow Bar, fragrance, and some prestige brands of cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and nail.
  • Cannot be redeemed for cash or gift cards.

Redeeming Coupons - ULTA.com

To redeem an ULTA coupon with a valid coupon code, place all items you would like to purchase in your shopping basket. Redeem your coupon by entering the coupon code in the space provided and click APPLY CODE. If the coupon code is valid, the applicable discount or promotion will appear in the shopping basket. Please note that not all in-store coupons and promotions can be redeemed on ULTA.com and not all ULTA.com coupons and promotions can be redeemed in-store.

Only one coupon code may be redeemed per order on ULTA.com and each coupon code may only be redeemed once.

Redeeming coupons in an Ulta Beauty store

Coupon /need to be presented at time of purchase and within the specified dates. Expired Coupon / Reward Certificates will not be accepted. Prior purchases do not qualify for use with coupon / reward certificates.

Shipping Promotions

Orders qualifying for FREE or discounted shipping promotions are shipped via our Standard service only. FREE or discounted shipping is available in the Continental U.S. only, and excludes Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, PO Boxes, APO/FPO addresses and oversized packages.

Product Availability

ULTA.com makes every effort to ensure that all of the merchandise we feature is in stock.

In the event that an item becomes out of stock after your order is submitted, we will ship the rest of the items in your order and send you an email indicating that one of your selected items is out of stock. You will not be charged for the out of stock item. We will not ship the item when it is back in stock, as we do not have a backorder system.

    Orders placed with credit/ debit Card
    • Your financial institution will place a temporary hold on the funds for your order as it processes. This is not a charge and the hold will be released once your order has shipped.
    • You may receive more than one shipment notice as items in your order ship,but you will not be charged until we send you the final shipment notice.Once you receive the final shipment notice, your card will be charged and the temporary hold will be released.
    • We only charge you for items that have shipped. Any item(s) that are cancelled and/or can no longer be shipped will not be charged and your final shipment notice will contain an adjusted price.
    Orders placed with Ulta Gift Cards
    • Once you submit your order, the funds will immediately be deducted from your Ulta Gift Card.
    • Hold onto your Ulta Beauty Gift Card until you receive your entire order. If we can't fulfill the portion of your order that was paid for with your Gift Card, we'll return the money to it when you get your final shipment email.
    Orders placed with Ultamate Rewards points
    • A temporary hold will be placed on the Ultamate Rewards points you've redeemed to pay for your order.
    • Once your order ships and you've received your final shipment notice, the hold will be released and the points will be deducted from your account.
For Unsuccessfully Submitted Orders Placed with credit/ debit Card
    • Your financial institution will place a temporary hold on your card for the amount of the order when:
      • An order is attempted, but not successfully submitted
      • The order is ultimately fully cancelled
    • The temporary hold is in anticipation of the order being shipped. You won't be charged for an unsuccessful order submission and the temporary hold will expire automatically within the timeframe set by your financial institution.
    Fully cancelled orders:
    • If your order has been fully cancelled, the temporary hold will expire automatically within the timeframe set by your financial institution. You may also contact us to release the hold with the following information:
      • First and Last Name
      • Order Number
    • If you used an Ulta Beauty Gift Card to pay for any part of your order, the money will be returned to it at the time your order is cancelled.
    • Any hold placed on your Ultamate Rewards Points will automatically be released within 14 days from the order submission.
Security:
  • For your own security, you won't be able to submit an order on ULTA.com if the billing address, credit card expiration date and/or security code doesn't match your credit card statement.
  • ULTA.com requires you to enter the correct security code with every purchase. We will not remember your security code
Tax
  • Sales and shipping tax will be applied to your ULTA.com order depending on the items and the laws of the state where the order is shipped. You'll see the tax in your order summary before submitting the order.

Gift Wrap / Gift Box

Sending a gift?

Depending on the time of year, we offer gift wrapping or gift boxes plus personalized gift note services. We offer gift wrapping from January through October and we offer gift boxes from November through December. Choose a gift option in the Shopping Basket and we will wrap or box your purchase and we will include an optional personalized message with your order.

PLEASE NOTE: Individual items within an order cannot be wrapped or boxed separately. Oversized/overweight items are not eligible for gift services.
