Most Helpful Positive Review Best shampoo I've used
I've been using this shampoo and matching conditioner for about 3 months now and I LOVE it! Despite good eating habits and taking good care of myself, my hair was falling out, in HANDFULLS. This went on for months until I looked like I was undergoing chemo treatments. After 2 weeks of using these products, the fallout literally stopped. I don't color my hair, but was told to use a sulfate free shampoo as sulfate sensitivity can cause drastic hair loss. After trying several brands with less than stellar results (they didn't lather, they left my hair greasy, they didn't stop the shedding, etc) I'm so happy I read the reviews here and gave this one a try. I'm a customer for life!
Most Helpful Critical Review Okay
This shampoo is okay. I really like that it is sulfate and paraben free, and it lathers well for being sulfate free. It smells good. It says you don't need to use a lot because the product is so concentrated, but I find myself having to use a good amount to get it to lather and cover the area I want to wash. I don't mind spending more if a product is going to last, but it doesn't look like its going to last that long. I have never had an issue with greasy hair, and can usually go without washing every other day, but using this shampoo, my hair starts to look greasy at the roots about five hours after the wash.

This shampoo is a must have for anyone who has vivid hair colors. My hair stays incredibly bright and true to color after using this. It does make your hair feel a bit dry after shampooing but nothing that the conditioner doesn't fix. Worth the splurge.
love this shampoo

I used to use DevaCurl no-poo for my fine/thin wavy hair. I got a trial size of this and liked it well enough. I decided to give the full size of this a chance when it was on sale during one of Ulta's hair events as the DevaCurl was just too expensive on a grad student budget. I've been using it for over a year now and I SWEAR my hair is fuller and my curls behave better than they did with the DevaCurl. I wash my hair 1-2x/week and I do a sort of double cleanse. I put one pump in, lather at the scalp, quick rinse, then another pump, lather at the scalp, and let it run down the rest of my hair when I rinse. Leaves my scalp feeling clean and not dry.
fav smell, terrible price

I only treat myself to this when they have jumbo sales, smells amazing.
Left my hair dry, and greasy
LinaU from Sacramento, CA
Smells great, and love how it lathers. BUT it left my hair greasy feeling, and my ends felt way too dry. I'd only use it a few times a week. To be completely honest. I never had this issue with Dove and of all brands, as well as more prestigious brands like Kenra, or Redken!
I bought it in May of this year and have finally finished the bottle- I did not return due to Covid, and the closures in my area.
I absolutely love this shampoo

I just love this shampoo and conditioner. My hair looks great. My friends have been commenting how thick my hair is. I also love what AG stands for. Go girl power. Please don't change this formula! Please don't sellout to a larger Corporate America. They will ruin it to eek out more profit.
Love this cruelty free shampoo!

This shampoo is the best! It is foamy and cleans well without being harsh. I use it with the conditioner and my long, fine hair is easy to comb out after I shower.
Yesenia from Fort Worth
Left my hair feeling greasy and heavy, with no feeling of cleanliness at all! Overpriced for bad quality!
I really like this product!

Small amount needed to get a rich lather. Rinses out easily and hair feels clean. Adds volume and shine. Recommended by a stylist for color treated hair. Would buy this shampoo again, but is pricey.

Bought this shampoo because it was recommended by my aesthetician. It doesn't cause breakout but DOESNT cleanse my hair. I have 2B thick course hair. And I only wash it 1/2 times per week. This didn't do it for me.
Would not buy again

Don't waste your money!
Wouldn't buy this again

This shampoo made my hair feel so rough and like hay that I would have to put so much conditioner in my hair to make it feel better. Wasn't really worth the money since it is a little bit more pricey.
My go to shampoo for past 6 years!!!

I use 3x wk on my color treated frizzy hair. Great clean without a greasy feel. Once a week I use the conditioner.
LEAVES HAIR DRYYYY

Wow, I wasn't the only one!

I don't know where to begin. I dye my hair party colors... I just went from magenta to lavender. One could suggest my hair health was compromised, but it felt good for the first few days. Then I tried this. Great reviews, so I thought I was all set. I couldn't figure out why my hair felt sticky. I thought maybe it was product buildup up, so I washed extra well. I saw my lavender fading, mostly in my bangs. Ironically, that's where the most virgin hair is, but it's more fine in most women. I noticed my hair was super tangly in the front and the bangs were so dry. (The ends of the rest were dry, but it wasn't as noticeable since it's longer.) I wanted to cry. I decided to switch shampoos and after one wash it feels slightly better. Now I'm going to have to deep condition and hope I can revive it. I hope I can. (Incidentally, the shampoo I got is cheaper—Redken—it's what I used with my magenta hair. My hair didn't stay as clean, but I don't care at this point. (When you get party colors, you wash it as little as possible!) Even Hask works better. Be forewarned!
didn't like it

too viscous, hard to get it out of the bottle, doesn't smell very nice
Hailee from NC
I bought this because I love the AG firewall protection spray. It was awful! My hair was healthy but this made it so dry and brittle. I bought a different shampoo and got rid of these while they were still half full. Started using my old shampoo again and my hair felt 10 times better.

Helps with eliminating brassiness in my hair. Love that AG products are not tested on animals too.
Great for Colored Hair
Busymom from Lebanon, VA
I was looking for a shampoo for colored treated hair that would make my color last longer. This worked perfectly. I use it daily and love it. It's a must have!
Jessie from Navarre, FL
At first I loved this shampoo, I was using it in conjunction with the matching conditioner. I wash my hair every 3-4 days usually. With this shampoo, I noticed my scalp was becoming more and more dry. It got so dry that I had a chunk of my scalp skin come off and start bleeding. This shampoo may work for others, but it wasn't for me. I should note- my hair was still getting greasy, it was just my scalp that was extremely dry.
I don't think it's for me

Because I sweat a lot, I have to shampoo daily. This was recommended by my hair stylist as I was trying to find a new shampoo. I bought the travel size and liked my hair what I used. Then I bought the liter size during the
July sale to save money. Needless to say, I'm not liking it at all. My hair gets all matted when I'm washing it. It's almost brick-like, it's so stiff. I find I have to use 2 full pumps for my hair not to be so stiff, it's just less stiff. It's like the formula for the liter is different from the travel size. The conditioner is the only saving grace to my hair. I have thine, fine hair that's colored coppery-red every 6 weeks. I didn't feel that my color lasted better with this product compared to other brands that weren't color saving products. Sadly, my hair fells better using Whole Blends products (the cheaper drug store stuff).

I like this product better than my usual Biologe. My hair has more body.
Completely Trashed my Hair!
Kay from Pittsburgh, PA
Buyer Beware! My hair had zero damage prior to using this Shampoo and conditioner and then all of the sudden, CHUNKS of hair everywhere. My thick soft hair was thinned and trashed in a matter of weeks.

AG Colour Care Shampoo is just what I was looking for. It's very concentrated so you only need a little to wash your hair with, smells great and has been great for my highlighted hair. Really like the AG line.

This shampoo left my hair feeling clean without residue. It's so expensive but it's worth it.

I have never left an online review for a product before but I had to for this shampoo. Truly awful. On multiple occasions I would wash my hair at night and it would be dirty the next morning when I woke up. I typically can go 2-3 days between washes. It does smell good so I gave it 2 stars. Switching brands immediately.
