Most Helpful Positive Review Best Hair Tool Ever
I have gone through MANY curlers, hot rollers, Bonnet dryers w/rollers...all time consuming and not guaranteed to even keep the style after I walk out the door. For the first time ever, my curls / waves stay intact all day long and only takes me 10 - 15 minutes in the morning.
As an example, I have attached a photo of my hair at the end of a work day (11hrs after styling). Windblown from walking around the city, but the curls are still there. No pre-product was used. Only a finishing spray.
Most Helpful Critical Review Pro vs S1
Alright y'all here it is. So, I bought both the Pro and the S1 Beach Waver. All I could find online was comparison charts for the specs, not an actual usage comparison- so I bought both and decided to do it myself. Let me start with my hair type- I have long (approx mid back) thick hair, and my individual hairs are thick. My hair is color treated (I have natural Dk brown hair) now I have a dark version of "bronde". I use foaming mouse and it's a 10 in my hair (and maybe a case of hair spray a week- the higher the hair the closer to God!). So now to the irons. I started with the Pro I was so excited, I set it to the high heat (450) and went to town. I was able to curl my hair in 10 mins flat! But the negative was half way through the iron got heavy and my hair kept getting caught in the clip. I thought maybe it was me, but the more I used it I noticed it wasn't me it was where the clip would rotate that would cause it to get caught. Now to the results of the Pro- I had beach waves in 10 mins super easy. My hair usually holds a curl for approx 3 days, with the Pro I held a curl for the day and needed to retouch the top each morning.
Now to the S1- again, I set it to the highest setting (410 on this one) and went to town. Again, curls in 10 mins flat! But this time, I noticed how much lighter the iron was. Also, my hair didn't get caught in the clip since this one has a home button that resets the clip. My curls lasted approx 2 days with this, but due to the nature of the "beach wave" I did touch up each morning (just the top layer).
So, I decided to keep the S1 and return the Pro. Primarily due to the weight of the Pro and my hair getting caught in the clip.

Blondebarbie from Cleveland, Ohio
This curling iron makes the best waves I've ever had every single time I use it. I have an amazing wand but this is better! It makes even consistent waves that lay beautifully. They are effortlessly to make & it's so easy to use. I've never had any waves seriously look more beautiful at home.
Quit turning on after 2 uses!! 😔
bma008 from Pittsburg PA
I got this as a Christmas gift from my husband and absolutely loved it!! I only used it 2 time before it stopped turning on completely. So sad this has happened and for the price I am just shocked. What a disappointment..
Beachwaver websites has it cheaper

Rotating function failure
Dee from Allen, Tx
Purchased mine before Christmas and it was defective, it would not rotate. Had to send it back. Ive purchased two beachwaver s1 but it seems they only last close to a year then the rotating function gives out. I purchased this model thinking it may be more durable but it set the record for the shortest lasting! I gave it two stars just because before plugging it this tool looked very well made from the outside.
Babydoll from Chicago
Do not buy an imitation but the real thing. I have thick hair that goes to the middle of my back. I was able to curl my hair in around 15 minutes ...so easy to use. I love the fact that you can set the direction and it holds. Heats up quickly too. So amazing !!
Burnt smell, sensitive buttons, broke on THIRD use
Amber from AL
My husband got me this as a gift so I really tried to give it a chance. I was so happy on the THIRD time using it that it just stopped working so I could return it for a full refund. I plugged it in, it would beep once and then nothing. Tried multiple outlets, but no, it was just done for. No tears from me though. The thing FRIED my hair. I haven't had fried, burnt-smelling hair since high school (when I didn't know how to take care of my hair). But if you curled for less than 10 seconds (which is normal for my hair with any other curling iron), the curl is very weak. More than that and BOOM. Burn smell. The auto-curl feature seems like a good idea in theory, but isn't worth it. The buttons are so sensitive that you definitely need to leave several inches between it and your scalp because you will inevitably hit the button accidentally with your hand and make it spin upwards more. And the part that clips your hair is so small that you can only do small sections of hair at a time, which seems absurd considering the barrel is so big. Just a terrible product -- please don't waste your money.
The best curler out there.
HalJacksxo from US
It works as advertised and makes curling your hair so much easier and SO much quicker. It's easy to use and pretty much fool proof. Of course it's pricey, but it really is worth it if you struggle curling your hair like I did before this.
110% worth the money and hype!!
Maddie from Birmingham, AL
I was given this Beachwaver as a gift around 6 years ago and to this day it's still going strong! I have used it as frequently as every day at times, although I haven't used it as much in the past few months due to being home a lot with the pandemic, but I used it again just the other day. It has lasted me a long time.
I have super long, heavily highlighted blonde hair and the length of this wand is great for long hair. I prefer this over traditional curing irons because with curling irons I always end up feeling like only the ends of my hair got curled. I also like how the Beachwaver heats up super FAST and transfers the heat to my hair quickly.
I actually use this like a big wand and prefer not to use the clamp and direction buttons. I just wrap my hair by hand. I brush the curls out after and they last all day and then I can even go without washing my hair for days (most I've gone is 5... don't judge me haha) and still have wave in my hair. It's amazing!
When the one I have dies I'll buy another one. It's really worth the money if you will use it.
BEST CURLING IRON OUT THERE FOR BEAUTIFUL CURLS THAT LAST !
Amy C from Chicago, IL
Saves so much time on the daily curling process & the curls are GORGEOUS!
Danielle from Springville, Indiana
Love this curling iron so much as long as it doesn't die like some other reviews I have seen. My hair is hard to hold curl but this lasts well throughout the day! Would definitely buy this again. I am already considering buying the 1.25. I'm glad I invested in the pro, for longer hair, the longer barrel size is perfect. I only wish the pro had a home button but once you use it a few times and grasp the hang of it, it doesn't matter much.
Not built for long-term use
Tita S from Los Angeles, CA
I've had two beach wavers and after about 1-1.5 yrs, it starts to malfunction. I honestly love how this product works, but it's not worth having to repurchase every other year. It's also sketchy that their warranty is only a year and most of these seem to break around that timeframe. Super disappointed.
Love. Perfect curls. Super easy

Long lasting curls. Very easy. Highly recommend

Purchased to do hair for family member wedding. Turned out amazing and was simple to use. Many compliments from all.

The hair looks very good for days. The curler is easy to use, but the direction switch was easier to use in the older model.
Love this curling wand!
LIG from OR
I have very fine, straight, shoulder-length hair and find a curling iron difficult to use. Flat irons are out as I'm already flat. This was great for putting a few little beachy waves with some volume in my hair without having to navigate a curling iron. Highly recommend.
Hands down best curling iron I have ever used
JessicaP from New York
I've tried them all and this is the best. It's gives me the most amazing curls and waves I have always wanted. I tell everyone I can about this. I won both the 1 inch and the 1.25 inch. The 1 inch s my favorite!
I would not buy or recommend this product. Very disappointed
Daisy from Illinois
Beware. Inferior product. Loved it at first. I rarely curl my hair but like to have the option. Stopped working with less than 20 uses. Unfortunately I purchased it 1-1/2 yrs ago.
worked the first time, gave me a panic attack the 2nd
Hayze from CA
I used this once and all seemed great and easy! Kinda had a learning curve but I got the hang of it and was done in about 10 minutes. Fast forward to the SECOND time I use it (for an event, of course) and all HECK breaks loose! I use it for the front section of one side of my hair and hear BEEP BEEP BEEP! I didn't know what was going on, then after a few more tries, realized it was TURNING OFF on its own. I pressed LEFT and it turned off for a minute or so, then when I turned it back on it was set on the RIGHT setting. NOT TO MENTION IT CAUGHT MY HAIR AND TWIRLED ON ITS OWN. I will be going back to a manual wand to avoid this catastrophe, major let down, and hassle to return the defective product. Too good to be true. Read the reviews, people!
Love the result, the actual tool is... Meh
Whatsinaname from Chicago, Il
The good: easy to use, long lasting curls, gorgeous result.
The bad: this is the third beachwaver I have bought within 60 days. The first lasted about three uses then would no longer turn on. The second worked once then would no longer turn. This third one so far has turned on and worked fine three times so far.
Overall: though the actual product seems poorly made due to the amount of break downs this tool works fantastic on my hair. The curl lasts 3 days, it's easy to use and I honestly can't curl my hair without it. I think it says a lot that I was willing to return/exchange 3 times. Also says some great things about Ulta's return policy. If this one breaks down within a year I'll be cutting my losses and looking for a new tool for my hair.
Meg from Roanoke, VA
I will say there is definitely a learning curve with this curling iron, but even so it wasn't for me. The curls turned out well but I can also get the same results from a curling iron that is 1/3 of the price.
Beachwaver Pro 1" Curling Iron
UltaJnky from Thousand Oaks
I thought the beach waver was just a gimmick - I have about 5 different curling irons and wands and couldn't justify spending close to $200 on another curling iron that simply did an auto twirl. So with the Ulta discount, I figured I'd give it shot. Watched a couple different videos to make sure I understood how to use properly and off I went. My first time trying the iron - I have medium / long dark asian hair - I used a heat protectant on my hair and set to 370 degrees. Took me 10 minutes to curl my hair - sectioned off the crown, sectioned down the center to work left and right as instructed in the video - finished the bottom section and then the crown. I can't believe how great this iron works - it actually gives consistent curls all the way around and gives a pro look - expensive salon curls at home without the expense of a salon visit. I loved so much I went and bought the 1.25" elsewhere because I love the look so much and Ulta doesn't carry that size, but really the 1" is the perfect size. Curls lasted till I washed my hair 3 days later.
Cord starts malfunctioning

Too expensive to be this counter intuitive and also break. This was my second one and I'm sorely disappointed
Not happy with the product
Maureen from rochester ny
This product was not for me. Sorry
I wanted SO much to love this curling iron!
LB from UT
I've had this iron for 1.5 years and have used it 10-15 times. The right/left lights are burned out and I would say it doesn't do that great of a job of holding my medium weight slightly wavy hair, so sometimes it takes a couple tries before I get the hair wrapped up in it. If you have thick hair, I would think you'd have a real problem. That is not the bad part though.. What I don't like the most is the location of the "go" button; it is in the way and you are constantly pushing it by mistake.. for the cost of this iron, it is VERY disappointing.
I had to return it
LK from Cincinnati
My hair continued to fall/pop out of the beachwaver, whether I used a small amount, medium amount or large amount of hair. I would not recommend for people with very straight, very thick hair.
