Once upon a time, a fair-skinned brunette examined her Elf bronzer and proclaimed "This is too orange!" She set out in pursuit of Essence's Sun Club matt bronzing powder (for blondes) and concluded that it was good: neither shimmery nor orange-like. She wrote a review on Ulta, giving the product four kisses because she was no connoisseur of bronzers and felt every product had room for improvement. Nevertheless, she had found a new love in her bronzer and took greater pleasure in her contouring ritual, knowing the effect was more natural and flattering on her visage. The price, the presentation, and party-themed design on the compact made the girl's mornings, from that day forth, ever so grand.
After reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a try for contouring. I'm pale with reddish brown hair and freckles so it's hard to find a good contour color that doesn't end up muddy or orange. Unfortunately this one did turn out orange. The light color is very warm. I won't ever use this product but since it was only a few bucks I'm not going to bother returning it but be warned, this is not a contouring bronzer. I think the shade would be good for adding warmth but for contouring you want to use a color that will give the impression of a shadow, not a warm glow, so this is NOT a good contouring bronzer like I was expecting it to be; just keep that in mind before purchasing

I was so excited to get this bronzer because all of the reviews were great! Maybe I got a dud, but I got the lighter version, since I'm paper white and even on me you couldn't see it at all. Very disappointed.

I absolutely love it, wonderful to highlght cheekbones

i love the neutral tone of this bronzer and it's great for lighter skin tones. i have no issues with oxidizing and it's buildable and pigmented.

Although the color is great and the size of the bronzer is quite large the overall quality of the product is equivalent to it's 5 price. It also seems to oxidize and turn more orange, difficult to blend and doesn't stay put. If you must purchase a discount bronzer, go for ELF or NYX instead

Need a few layers of it but soft and smells like coconut!

I recommend this product for any fair skinned makeup lover searching for a natural bronzer. It is a great bargain, especially for the size. It's the size of my palm!
The payoff is medium/buildable and it smells like summer.

Great to buff out a heavier bronzer or maybe add some warmth all over the face. Not necessarily pigmented enough to do a bronzer contour. Useful for the price.

Super tightly pressed but still good color payoff. Probably won't need to buy a bronzer for a very long time. I bought the lighter one bc I am pastey and it works pretty well.

I would consider this bronzer to be better than other drugstore bronzers under $15. The smell is very pleasing (tropical sun lotion) and the lighter shade is perfect for my very fair skin.
However, I feel that this powder is pressed FAR too hard in the pan. I literally had to dig the powder out with the back of my brush in order to loosen the powder enough to transfer product onto my brush.
You get what you pay for with this bronzer. You have to play with the product in order for it to work. I feel as though essence is lacking shade range with this bronzer as well, especially for darker skinned users. I don't think I'd purchase again, but for the price it's not too terrible.

I've only used this bronzer a handful of times but it's soooo nice! VERY buildable and very affordable. Smells a little like sunscreen but more like a coconut sunscreen (not bad). Price is great too!
Rosebud from Maryland
I like the way it goes on my skin

I read some other reviews about people complaining about the pigment... but honestly, going from hoopla to this, they're super comparable and this is a great dupe for a fraction of the cost! Wondering if those reviewers not having luck with pigment need a new brush? 🤔
ARG from Portland, Oregon
Smells a little like sunscreen (it has sunscreen in it) but I don't mind that. I prefer a more natural look and this works amazing for that
Nicki from Florida
I had to go in for or five times with my brush to even see it
ashlyn from alabama
It's pretty great for what you pay for it. It does take time to build up as it's not very pigmented. It does last all day though. I would recommend to anyone on a budget.

This is very subtle and natural-looking on me. I really like it. I'm pretty fair and have naturally reddish brown hair, and it looks good. If you're darker, I wouldn't get this shade.
PurpleAngel from Mt. Vernon, IN
The fragrance is so tropical smelling
Ari from Arizona
I have to say it blends so beautiful but the shade range is horrible I was hoping it was a bit darker considering it's the shade for darker skin and it barely shows up on my skin mind you I'm light tan definitely wouldn't work on darker skin wish there was more shades.
Consumer from Sacramento
Hardly any pigment at all. I had to dig and dig to get a slight shade. :( I can't even use as an eye shadow. Wasted my money.
Jordan from Oklahoma
I use this as a light bronzer. It's very smooth and applies evenly
gnikkic from North Jersey
This product is really good, however, it is very sheer. Even on my light skin (I bought the lighter tone), it barely shows unless I build it up. It hasn't caused any breakouts or any other skin reactions. I went back and bought the medium tone and it is too dark - I have to buff it out to make it look "natural". I wish they made something for in between. For the price, it is a good buy. It didn't blow my mind or anything. But I would recommend this for beginners or for people who want a lighter application of makeup vs heavy.

Sets foundation and overall look

My skin tone is medium tan and this did NOTHING as a bronzer.

Smells like coconuts! Blends very easy
Whit from Austin, TX
I'm digging the whole thing. The pan is huge, the smell is pleasant, and the texture is buttery soft. The pigment isn't that intense, but it builds up nicely and is forgiving.
