Most Helpful Positive Review Deep and long lasting color I've used many different semi permanent colorful dyes over the years and this is definitely the deepest and most intense color deposit I've come across. I have naturally blonde hair at about a level 7 that's been lifted to a level 8. I was actually trying for a less intense color so I only left the dye on for 20 minutes, but this color is STRONG and left my hair a darkkkk purple that made my hair look like I had put purple over a dark brown. I ended up bleaching my roots/about 3 inches down so the blonde was visible again because I'm a committed blonde, which wasn't apparent at all with how dark this dye turned out. It's been 6 weeks and I've washed my hair (with a cleansing conditioner exclusively) probably 20 times and the color has definitely faded but it is still VERY much purple and with the fading I've actually reached the color and intensity I initially wanted.
Pros: -smells great, fruity and reminiscent of artificial grape, doesn't smell like typical hair dye at all, grape smell lasted for a few days
-INTENSE color
-long lasting
-quick results (can be washed out within 20 minutes)
-doesn't bleed out in the shower (after the initial two or three washes)
-doesn't stain clothing or towels when wet
-leaves hair feeling soft and conditioned
Cons: -very messy application, the slightest touch will stain skin/counters/anything encountered
-stained shower floor and walls on initial rinse
-might be darker than anticipated
This is a great product if you're looking for an intense color deposit that will last longer than some other brands. If you're looking for a lighter color, I recommend mixing dye with a white conditioner before applying to hair.
I've attached three images- my initial level of blonde, directly after dye deposit, and now-6 weeks later- with blonde roots and color fade after ~20 times cowashing.
Most Helpful Critical Review I mean... sure I used this product in turquoise 2 weeks ago for homecoming.. cause yknow.. school spirit. Anyway.. I've used this product before in the pink and purple but just on my ends. I decided to be adventurous and use the turquoise all over my hair. The color was great! The only problem I have is.. it won't come out. It has faded to this light green and I've tried all sorts of things to get it out from anti-dandruff shampoo to vitamin c tablets. If you are looking for something that will last a while and you don't mind the fading.. get this. But if you are looking for something to last maybe a week.. just don't do it with the turquoise. ALSO! If you have thicker/longer hair you may want to get a couple jars because I only purchased one and barely had enough. Good luck on your hair adventure.

I bought red and green for my 7 year old so she could have festive hair for a Christmas in July weekend. The red washed out rather quickly, but here we are in February and there's still some green holding on. I cannot get this out of her hair and don't want to try bleaching. I should have stuck go my usual go to brand.

I've been using this color almost a year now. Maybe about 10 months or so. When I first colored my hair my hair color was a light brown blonde. And the color came through so beautiful I get so many compliments. It does stain if you don't cover the area your working on. Like the sink and stuff. I never have problems getting it off my tub I just apply powder bleach and use a magic eraser right after the shower
The color doesn't bleed on to my shirt when my hair is wet. I think the people that are having that problem are not washing there hair out correctly I wear gloves when I am washing my hair and I scrub my scalp cux the color will stay on the scalp if u don't scrub my color lasts vibrant about two weeks even with me washing it once a week and using heat tools. Now mixing the color is something else. I use the lagoon blue under my pink hair cux I like the ombré effect. It doesn't stay blue it turns purple because of the mixing when I am washing my hair. But the purple color is too dark. I would just say use gloves and make sure you wash ur hair good and you should have any problem s

Smells good but does not last unfortunately more than two washes but it'll definitely stain your hands wether you use gloves or not or it'll stain your tub / sink and it's a pain to get off

Beautiful, vivid color. However, that beautiful vivid color will also dye anything it comes in contact with. My shower, hands, scalp, and majority of my body are now purple/pink. Not worth the mess, won't be buying again.

I've been dying my hair black for years and have tried to stray away from box black dye in recent applications. I didn't think any black dyes could be worse than arctic fox but here we are. I used gloves but that didn't matter because as soon as I got in the shower to to rinse my hair my hands were immediately stained black. My whole body is this weird tinted gray blue color from the water running down my body. My shower is stained even after bleaching it. The water would not run clear in the shower even after rinsing it for half an hour. I scrubbed my whole body in my hands and I still look like a mythical creature because of how blueish gray I am. It also ruined my light pink acrylics and stained them an ugly gray..

My daughter has used several colors from the Punky Colour line and never had an issue UNTIL she decided to use the black. It's EVERYWHERE. my shower is stained, my hands from having to wash her hair in the kitchen sink, her body (neck, fingers, ears, face, etc). Didn't think to read reviews to purchase a new color since we never had issues. Looking at these comments thinking wow this is crazy. What did Punky Colour do with their formula if this many people are having issues?
After this I don't think I would ever buy again until they fix their product. I'm guessing if it's in the black container it the older formula and your good. Beware if it's in the new white packaging.

No matter how long I rinsed, the water wouldn't run clear. I tried to shampoo and condition some of it out and that didn't work either. My face, hands, neck, chest, upper back, and arms were all stained purplish blue. IF THIS STAINS YOU: Vaseline or baby oil will help remove it. I'm almost 25, and I've used black dye on my hair easily 50+ times in my life (emo teenager) and I've used all different brands, and I have never known a mess like this.
Another problem was that once my hair was dry, my pillow STILL got stained with dye.
The ONLY redeeming factor is that despite the amount of ink-like chaos circling down my drain for 30+ minutes, my hair is still miraculously the color I dyed it. That said, I am now terrified of getting in the shower and having to douse myself in more baby oil for stain removal or deal with more dye on my pillow.

I give the dye 4 stars because i have used the purple and red dye and both are extremely messy to get out. You WILL have dye all over your shower. but the color is so prettyyy! Make sure you use gloves when rinsing the dye out, otherwise your hands will be stained. I would suggest this dye to someone who has never dyed their hair before.

I used the alpine green shade and I applied the product just enough to saturate my hair sufficiently root to tip but without putting too much on. I've dyed my hair green over my bleached hair many times before, I usually use arctic fox for this. After letting it process for about 25 mins I rinsed it out in the shower and even used shampoo as I always do. I was in the shower for over an hour trying to rinse it out and the water was still a dark green. I gave up when I ran out of hot water. The next morning my hair was a beautiful green but it was ALL over me and my pillow. My neck and face are bright green even though I made sure they were clean before bed. Ugh this product is a nightmare. It's beautiful result but I'm sorry I wouldn't use it again.

I've used Punky Color several times. It works amazing. It can be very messy if you aren't fastidious. If you have shoulder length hair, you will need 2 jars.

I was really looking forward to using this but I will literally never do it again. First of all I ran cold water as directed over my hair for over an hour and dye was still coming out. It completely dyed my shower because they don't give any sort of indication that you shouldn't rinse your hair in the shower. Also, I used gloves and took precautions but even after I got it to a light blue and gave up on getting it all out I dried my hair and my dry hair was turning everything it touched blue. My hands, sweatshirt, my entire bed. DONT DO IT!!!!

The color is gorgeous no doubt however the fact that it bleeds so horribly is what makes this not even worth it. My whole body, neck, fingernails, hands and face have stained everytime I wash my hair. I wash it in cold water with opalex shampoo and conditioner once a week now to try and lessen the green stains. It takes me a whole week to get the green tint/stain off my neck. I can't even wear my hair up bc I look horrible. The formula has changed dramatically. I used this bc I heard so many great reviews on it so I gave it another shot. Worst mistake ever. I will stick to ION or iroiro or wella color charms but I will never use this again.

This hair dye stained my ENTIRE shower and my body. I have tried using bleach, alcohol, and every cleaner I had to get it out of my shower and it did not work. I will not be using this product and will be returning it for a refund.

My entire body looks like a terrible blue man group cosplay. My bathtub looks like I committed a hate crime against smurfs. Just from rinsing. This is the worst hair dye I have EVER used in my many years or dying my hair fun colors. I have never been so disappointed with a product in my life. If you use this be prepared to scrub your entire body with rubbing alcohol to remove the stains.

They have changed the formula. If you have used this before without problem, do not order it again. The new formula stained my fingernails, neck, back, and legs. Not to mention the train wreck it left in my shower. When I reached out to customer support, they did not give me a refund and they said I should not have washed my hair in the shower. Where else am I supposed to wash my hair? Unless you're prepared to use the hose, do not buy this.

i NEVER write reviews but i think this is important. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS!! i have been dying my hair since i was 12 (now 21) and in the past i have used this brands 3-in-1 depositing shampoo and i LOVE it. i picked up this product because my ulta was out of the color of the shampoo i wanted so i picked this out instead and let me tell you... horrible mistake. it has been 6 days since i used this in my hair and everything i own is blue now. my phone case, my pillow cases and the actual pillows, i wake up with blue dye on my face neck and ears, every time i touch my hair my fingers get stained blue again, etc. it is literally a nightmare please do not buy this product.

I have been using punky color for years now and it usually works great. They have recently changed the formula and did not put this on the bottle, so when I used it, it stained my entire shower as well as my body. I'm so upset. All of my skin is dyed purple. When I reached out to customer service, they refused to give me a refund and instead offered me another bottle. Shameful. This is not the same formula it used to be. Do not use

I wanna start this review out by saying that this hair dye is worth it. The color is glorious- glowing in the light when I dare venture outside. It also doesn't rub off on things when it is dry, a problem that drove me away from arctic fox. The only issue is that washing ot out turned me into pickle rick. I know this is a rookie mistake but I washed it out without gloves and then spent far too long scrubbing at the hulk hands it left me with. The next shower left my neck and forehead a slight pastel green. It came off easily enough, so I think it's worth it but your mileage may vary, especially if you dont wanna shrek yourself.

My ENTIRE body is purple, including my sink and shower!! I was shivering under my shower water for ONE HOUR and the dye was still running non stop! I had to just give up and get out. My body is still stained I don't know how to get it off. My hair is tangled and falling out. Do not buy this. I'm convinced anyone giving the bad reviews a thumbs down are the company owners...

I purchased and used the Flamingo color. After reading a lot of negative reviews I need to say this: This product is highly pigmented. Do not dye your hair near anything you love. Also while the color is sitting in your hair make sure you clean any spills/spots with some sort of bleach cleanser and a scrub brush. It cleans up quickly as long as you don't let it set. Glob the stuff on your hair really thick. Color payoff is definitely worth it. Yes you will see a lot of it coming out when you wash it. It's unavoidable. I suggest only washing your hair in a stainless steel sink. Don't wash while you shower or you'll dye your body too. I plan to buy this again
