Most Helpful Positive Review A few tips to make this work
The first time I used this, it was a disaster. Sooooo shiny, with a grayish undercast… I thought I'd made a mistake. But I really wanted it to work - I had been using the Serum, and that wan't working for me. My complexion always looked dull, and it was too time consuming to blend it without streaking. I also didn't want to go back to the powder foundation. My skin is on the oily side, and with the powder, my skin always ended up even oilier by mid-day.
So I persisted with the Complexion Rescue, and now I absolutely love it. My skin has a nice, illuminated appearance, without looking too oily. The level of hydration is perfect for my skin.
I can tell from some of the negative reviews that they are making some of the same mistakes that I initially did, so here are a few tips I found that make it work beautifully.
1. Don't use too much. I can't emphasize this enough. A pea sized amount is all you should use. Think of a pea, and then make that size happen on the brush (Tip 1-a; use the brush). I dot that all over my face and blend until the brush feels pretty dry against my face.
2. After blending, let it soak in for a few minutes. If you try to put Mineral Veil, or Warmth on right away, it gets cakey and messy. Walk away and do something else for a few minutes.
3. Coverage is light to medium. If you have dark circles or red spots, dab on a concealer over trouble areas.
4. I use Warmth and a spot of blush but depending on skin tone, you may not need these. Coverage is pretty sheer, so if you are lucky enough to have some nice, natural color, this product won't hide it.
5. Don't skip the Mineral Veil unless you like super-shiny skin. The mineral-based sunscreen gives a white-ish shine which the mineral veil takes away. But - this is my favorite part - your skin still appears nicely dewey and lit from within after the dusting of mineral veil.
Most Helpful Critical Review Beware: Size is now MUCH smaller
The tube size has been changed significantly, but the price has not. This now costs about $14/ounce MORE than it did previously. This makes the product much too expensive for what it is. I hate how they kept the outside box the same and didn't change the external packaging at all. Seems very sneaky. I've loved the product for several years, but now the hugely increased cost per ounce means I might as well buy a better quality foundation for the price. Sigh. Hate when good things change.

I have dry skin. I take care of it, but that's just how it is. Something has changed my skin. I think it's wearing a mask all the time. I get the necessary treatments for my skin. I moisturize, prime, etc. However, no matter how I apply foundation or which foundation I was using, it was giving me cake face.
I bought this and it's good. It did not make me look like I had a cake face. I had to use 2 layers, it it looks good and lasted all day.
I'll definitely buy. One downside, there's not many colors.
Would not buy again

This had so many good reviews but it's pretty awful, in my opinion. It's very shiny when first applied and feels greasy/weird. I don't mind applying oils to my skin but the feel of this is just odd. It also settles into fine lines a lot, and by the end of the day it makes my pores look extremely prominent. I think it may have also caused me to breakout a bit.
The BEST tinted moisturizer I have ever used
KayBee from New York
I have been eyeing this for awhile. My holy grail used to be Smashbox BB cream but they discontinued it. I've been struggling to find something just as good. I was previously using Smashbox Halo moisturizer but wasn't 100% in love with it. Then came this. Online and in person I was convinced this would be too dark or too yellow on my fair light / neutral cool complexion. I got shade matched & Vanilla was Ulta's pick. When I tell you my jaw dropped using this, it absolutely DID. This is the most beautiful consistency and finish I have ever seen. Buildable coverage and honestly I felt I didn't even need concealer and it...shrunk my large pores?! I also found my other makeup products (both cream & powder) laid so much better on this compared to other tinted moisturizers I have tried recently. If you've been debating, GET IT. I will use this forever. Reference: Fair Light in Smashbox/Vanilla 02 in this.

I'm not a big make-up wearer but I needed protection from the sun and moisturizing because I am so fair and now in my 40's. This fit the bill for me. It's light coverage, has sun screen, and my skin looks better since I've been using it this past December, 2020. I tried IT CCC 50SPF and it looked like talc on my face because it is super drying on my skin and for me settled into my fine lines though the coverage was excellent that's not what I initially bought it for anyway. Needless to say, I love the BareMinerals so much more and my skin thanks me for it!
Gives me a radiant skin-like finish
Glowy Skin from St. Louis, MO
My skin is on the dry side, and this tinted gel cream has never left me dry or flaky. This product makes my skin look hydrated and glowy but not sticky. It's perfect for everyday use and a no-makeup look. It lasts the entire day for me, including workouts. This is one of the only products I have squeezed every last drop out of the tube then bought again.
Not Hydrating & Hard To Seamlessly Blend
Beauty Enthusiast from Rochester, NY
I really liked this tint at first because it gives your skin this beautiful glow and it does even out redness. However, since it is a mouse like product it is not very forgiving when you blend this into the skin. You need to make sure the product is blended in perfectly on application otherwise you will find these little blotches of product on your skin that will pill when you try to blend it out. My other con with this product is it becomes very drying throughout the day. I will put this on in the morning and by mid afternoon my skin will feel very tight and dehydrated. I know it is this product because others do not do this. All in all a real disappointment for me.
Don't waste your money
Savannah from Rolling hills
I tried to work with this product over 5 TIMES. It does not blend with anything. It cakes up so bad for a product that barely covers anything. My skin looked like it was peeling off and the only remedy was to take it off completely and use my old faithfuls. You will end up feeling like an oily mess trust me. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE. Several ULTA employees said that this worked wonders, it safe to say I'm never asking for help at that location again. Seems like they just want to sell items instead of being fully transparent.
Not what I expected
Ashley from Queens, NY
I was interested in trying a tinted moisturizer because I hate the feel of foundation on my skin. I wanted something hydrating and that would give a dewy look. This does none of that. I've been using it for a few days and my skin still feels dry and it actually looks more matte instead of giving me a glow.
On the plus, my complexion does look better. Little dark spots around my face really seem to just blend into my skin. So it's good at evening out my complexion. Maybe this is just not the right product for me.
Moni from Chicago
This was not good - felt heavy and sticky.
Looks so natural ❤️
LB from Grand Rapids, MI
I've used this product for years! I've tried switching to other brands when I've had more prominent breakouts and needed more full coverage but I've never been as happy. Pro tip, if you have some spots where you want more full coverage mix this with a fuller coverage foundation and the finish is beautiful. This has never made me break out and it feels really natural on your skin. I don't know why this isn't recommended or talked about more in the beauty community. I don't think I will ever stop using. I have very fair skin with pink undertones and the opal shade is my perfect match
Not As Hydrating As I'd Hoped
Rachel from Clayton, NC
I like this product, but I will try other tinted SPFs before repurchasing. From a distance and at a glance, this product looks great on my face. Most would likely think I am wearing foundation. However, up close, my face looks dry, and especially ashy around my mouth and chin. I always start with a hydrated canvas, but this makes my face look dryer than it was before applying. You're supposed to blend with fingertips, but it leaves fingertip marks and streaks on my face, so I have to pay close attention to blending/rubbing it in well. I like that it's buildable to give more coverage if wanted. Again, once I finish applying, it looks pretty good and gives me a nice dewy glow. Overall, I'd like to find a product that's less drying and easier to blend. My IT COSMETICS CC cream is much more hydrating on my face, but for me, that's too much coverage for everyday wear.
So Glad I Finally Tried This!
Beauty Freak from Rochester, NY
This is a beautiful, natural looking product. I put it on with my fingers and it melts into my skin. It is moisturizing, evens out your complexion, provides minimal coverage, isn't heavy and doesn't emphasize fine lines/wrinkles. I get oily around the 7 hour mark (like with most products) but it doesn't look bad and when I use a blotting sheet nothing comes off except the excess oil. This stuff really stays on well. I have taken a nap with this stuff on and everything stayed in place. I also did not notice transfer while using a face mask while running errands either! I cannot attest to how it lasts through sweat yet as it is still pretty cold here but I have heard from others this stuff even lasts well in the summer time so very excited to see how it does. The longest I have worn this has been about 12 hrs and it looked beautiful still. Lightly faded on my chin and nose but a very graceful fade, you wouldn't notice unless really looking for it. Fantastic product all around. This is definitely a keeper!

I recently started using Bareminerals brand due to the high number of reviews so I decided to give it a try and wow! I love this gel cream, I have oily/acne prone skin and it does not make me oily or give me new breakouts.
Ok the best I've used in years

I've been trying new foundations for over 5 years now almost thinking I didn't even need one cus they all weren't working for me. This one!!! This one is unreal. Flawless, light, buildable and I recommend you get the application brush they recommend in the details of this product.
Best Tinted Cream
KimberleyAnne11 from NH
I have read a lot of reviews about this product and finally decided to try it. I am so glad I did, just wish I did sooner. I love the coverage it gives and feels like you have nothing on. It had made my morning routine so much easier.
At first I hated it BUT....
NB from Statesville, NC (Mooresville store)
I tried this as soon as I got home from the Ulta store. I placed it on with my fingers over my Bare Minerals primer thinking it would be like a thick BB/light foundation—like the reviews I had read before splurging on this. It ended up being blotchy and somewhat oxidized on my skin. I thought I had wasted my money on a product I wasn't even going to be able to use! Tossed it back in my makeup box.
Two days later: I started my makeup routine... put BM skin longevity cream, BM original primer then grabbed this to try one more time. I ended up putting it on with my Tarte brand foundation brush. Must have been the key because it looked flawless and covered so much better. I then placed my BM powder foundation on and went on with the rest of my makeup. Almost didn't even need the foundation after but I have SUPER red skin on my cheeks so I needed a little more coverage.
I am officially in love with this product and so happy I gave it another shot.
Color reference: I usually wear Bare Minerals original powder foundation in the color Medium Beige 12 and ended up getting (with an Ulta clerks help) the shade Natural 05 in this Competition Rescue.
Product doesn't really have a smell and didn't irritate my skin!
10/10 would recommend to anyone
Great coverage, great moisturizer

The Hydrating Gel is a great moisturizer, fits my skin tone and does not clog pores. Would recommend!
Would be perfect but...

It goes on smooth, very little texture, staying power, and so hydrating.
Except it oxidizes like crazy. How is it possible for the lightest option (which is pink undertone) and it to turn orange?
Apply Before BareMinerals Loose Powder
Nicorete from So.Cal
I use a small amount before I apply the loose powder foundation. I've used this alone, and it has nice coverage, and buildable. It was hard to color match at first, but I finally found the right shade. I apply a small amount with my fingers then go in with blending. It feels lightweight and has a gel feel.
Second skin for me
AnaLynne from Norwood, MA
I usually use Bare Minerals original loose powder foundation-and I love it- but I wanted something liquid and sheer and a single step application. A very friendly and knowledgeable Ulta associate recommended this, and even showed me it's what she was wearing and her skin looked awesome. Despite my mask she was able to recommend me "bamboo." When it came out of the tube it didn't look like it would match me at all- but after smoothing it out, it's beautiful and light and seamless. It recommends using the translucent powder over for a matte look which I have done and is pretty, but during the day I use it over my daily moisturizer. The packaging says to put it over clean skin but it works well over my neutrogena products! The longest I have worn it is 3 days in a row, and I can already see an improvement in my skins tone and evenness. I will finish the week wearing this to see how much it can help. Love it!
Great for acne prone, dry skin
Jenny from Southern California
I've been using for a couple weeks now and I love it! It's very hydrating and really helps even out my textured acne prone skin. It leaves a very natural finish to my dry skin, and even goes well over mineral sunscreen. The coverage is light to medium which is great for daily use. I have not noticed any new breakouts as a result of this product. I did wish BareMinerals offered a wider color selection, however I would still recommend this product!
It's a definite YES!
M1nman from Tennessee
I started using this product a couple of weeks ago and it has been a game changer. I'm 54-years-old and noticed my makeup application looking extremely blotchy and just sitting on my pores this over the past couple of months. Even at 54, I tend to have pretty oily skin during the warmer months, and more combination skin in the colder months. This year was different. I am an avid skincare user and have been since my teens, but I obviously needed more of something this year. I added more intense moisturizers/masks to my regime and only saw a minimal difference until I decided to try this product. I do use a lightweight serum before application, but with the moisturizers that are in the product, that's all I need. It applies smoothly and has a gorgeous glow. If you aren't looking for a glow, just use a little mineral veil over top. My skin looks plump and dewy all day long, without looking like an oil slick. I don't know how this wears in the summer months, so I'll just have to wait and see.
Jury is still out on this one..

The color is off! Bare minerals and Ulta both matched me to the Cashew color but it's definitely more orange than my skin. I'm typically in the light-neutral/light-cool range of colors and this just isn't a perfect match, but it's close enough. I'm not sure how to feel about the product itself. Definitely light to minimal coverage, and it's not the smoothest finish. But it does feel nice and lightweight on the skin. Although I haven't used it much since I wear a mask all day and have tried to minimize makeup/maske breakouts lately.
Would be my holy grail if it didn't oxidize on me
Maryann the makeup fanatic from New Jeresey
This product in buttercream is such a perfect shade match for me. Too bad it doesn't stay that shade. I have to mix this with another foundation to keep it from oxidizing me. I'm still getting really good use out of it as a foundation mixer. If I have a foundation that I love but doesn't last long, I'll mix this guy in. If I have to go full glam for an event but my foundation is a tad heavy, I mix this guy in. This doesn't exaggerate lines or pores so it's great mixer. I just really wish it could stand on it's own but looking like an oompa lumpa is not something I want to do. I heard the colourpop pretty fresh is similar so I will try that one next and see if it oxidizes on me.
Exactly what I'd hoped for
Roisin from Massachusetts
I've been using the it cosmetics cc cream for years and I decided to try this and I'm glad I did! It definitely doesn't offer as much coverage so sometimes I use another concealer on days I'm looking for more but it doesn't feel heavy whatsoever and the finish is really nice as well. I've used my fingers and a brush and both blend out very nicely. I don't notice the oxidation like others but I also have fair skin. If you've had your eye on it for awhile it's worth it.
