Most Helpful Positive Review Hesitant; Proven Wrong!
I was nervous about this palette. I'd seen some people post eye looks using it and their looks tended to seem a bit splotchy? I hate to say it.. but their splotchy looks were all user error. This palette has great shades that fit well together, blend well, and wear beautifully. Even though the rows seem to correspond to one another, you can easily mix shades from different rows to create gorgeous combinations.
The color names are so inspiration. To name a few: Force of Nature, Super Mom, Power Player, Bombshell. I'm all about positive affirmations so this tickles me to death.
The packaging is metallic which makes it a bit difficult to read the color names in the right lighting. However, that's the only flaw in the packaging. The packaging is small and thin and the square shape is nice compared to the typical rectangles. The cover is pretty but the mirror is the real wow-factor. First off, the mirror is huge. It takes up the whole inside of the lid, which is a rarity and the square shape is more useful than what I'm use to *looking at you Naked palettes*. Finally, the mirror sits up at about a 90 degree angle. It is PERFECT for sitting the palette in your palm while applying your shadows.
Most Helpful Critical Review Awful, don't waste your time and money
I was so excited to try this palette, but it left me extremely disappointed. The color payoff is very poor, especially when compared to my UD shadows, and it creased within 20 minutes of applying! (My skin is not oily, none of my MAC, NYX or UD shadows crease ever) I used eyelid primer and setting spray, so this is just an awful product. I will be returning it and not buying Tarte shadows again. Even NYX shadows last longer and show up better, for a much lower price.

I am SO glad that I purchased this palette. it is, hands down, my favorite. Beautiful pigments and blends like a dream! I find myself using this more than any other palette.
The right pick
Jessi from Colorado
I have blind hair, blue eyes a d fair skin. The shades that come in this palate are perfect and classy. None of the shades feel like too much and they all fit perfect with my skin tone
These are VERY gray colors with terrible pay-off!

I love berry/jewel tones in eyeshadow. Oxblood, deep purples, baby pink, etc., always seem to work for me. I've used Tarte concealer in the past as well as tried some of their eyeshadows in subscription boxes so it was a no-brainer to go for this palette; the purples seemed especially muted which would be great for more subtle day-time drama and the darker shades seemed adequately dark for melodramatic smokey eyes.
But, man, this palette made me look like a GRANDMA.
It's impossible to tell the quality of the shadow on a computer screen but this stuff is NOT creamy or buttery. It's VERY powdery, TONS of fall-out, and some pretty bad streaking/collecting in certain spots on the eyelid when trying to build dimension. I always use a Milani primer which feels amazing and looks great with my foundation so to see it clash so poorly with this palette has been disappointing. Even without primer or with other primers (like a serum from Neutregena), these shadows show up creased within hours and SUPER GRAY.
That's my biggest complain honestly: I can smudge out bad payoff. I can build over lack of color. But the gray undertones shocked me. It all turns GRAY. The purples are not even purple on my lids! They're just an extremely cool bluish tone of purple. You can't even blend different shades without it all turning into gray smudge.
If you want warmer plums, go for something else like Anastasia BH which has always been successful for me.
The only "pro" here is that the shadows do smell weirdly wonderful, like pastries...
Highly recommend & worth the price.

I love how all the colors are usable in this pallet, I usually end up liking only two or three colors & the rest goes to waste. This is a must have!
Colors are so natural
Bren from Sherwood, AR
I have deep set dark eyes so I find it hard to find an eyeshadow that makes my eyes standout. ...but the colors in this palette gave my eyes radiance yet natural look. I can use it daytime or nightime!
Beautiful colors, but not worth the cost
Steph from Milwaukee, WI
This palette has great colors and it smells very good! I was very excited to try it given the mostly positive reviews. Even with primer, this eyeshadow does not stay on for more than several hours. Good for a night out but not for everyday work wear. Not worth the cost.
My go-to palette
Sandi from Florida
I own a LOT of palettes. This is, by far, my favorite. I reach for this palette first, everyday!
I struggle with allergies (watery eyes) and menopause (hot flashes and I live in Florida). I would get beautiful results with other eye shadow palettes but within 5 to 20 minutes, the shadow would either be gone or patchy. The first day I tried this shadow in 90 degree heat (had errands to run for about 7 hours) I checked my makeup several times. Much to my surprise and delight, it was still exactly where I put it!! This was the first time in YEARS I didn't have to either reapply or remove my eye shadow after I left my house. I almost cried. I didn't but if I did, I'm sure the eye shadow would have still looked gorgeous!
I will be buying the other palettes from this line and brand.
This is a real review. I paid for the palette from my own pocket. I'm a 52 y/o housewife that doesn't work for tarte or Ulta.
I just wanted to share with other women that struggle with the same issues. It's hard enough to feel good about yourself when you're sweating and turning red during a hot flash. But to have your makeup running down your face on top of it can be an unpleasant emotional experience.
I know people think 'it's just makeup'. But to some of us it's so much more.
Now if I could just find a foundation that didn't run, I'd be tickled to pieces!

I ended up returning this as the shadows were chalky although I think I got an older product. The colors just didn't suit my skin tone either. In Bloom will continue to be my fav along with the toasted palette.
Strange smell, poorly pigmented
beren from Pacific Northwest
Packaging is beautiful, nice big mirror. Colors are gorgeous. But it smells like stale cocoa. Color names are weird like "caregiver" and "supermom." I just want to put on makeup not be reminded of society's expectations of me, thanks. Poorly pigmented, needs multiple layers to build up. Blending is ok. I don't get the hype.

This is a great everyday palette, there is a beautiful range of cool tones. The pigment is great, and the shadows perform so well.

Being mature and transitioning into mattes has been kind of difficult for me because I enjoy satin finish shadows. I think they look better on a mature face than a matte that looks a bit chalky. Keri Lou used this palette in a video, and the texture of the matte shades looked so silky I decided to purchase this palette. It has not disappointed. Smooth, silky mattes that apply like a dream and blend beautifully. It's everything I wanted.
Great for beginner

Got mine on sell. Each row it show you it a look. Downward is brow highter, next to it is lid, crease, and outer crease. I love this row not a mixup don't you get confused about it. It soft and pigment easy to blend better than drugstore. It smell like clay.
Great basic mattes
Saff from Chicago
These shadows are really blendable
and nicely pigmented.
I like how it's separated into warm, cool, and neutral rows; It makes it super easy to create a cohesive eye look.
best matte palette!

this formula is the best and it lasts forever on the eyes even without eye primer. this is the palette I intend on using on my wedding day!

I love this palette. It's perfect for day wear and work and can easily be used for a smoky eye.

Pretty matte shades. I wish the formula was a bit more buttery

I love matte eyeshadow so this is perfect! I love the way it looks and it actually has a nice smell! Perfect nude color palate!

The pigments are long lasting. I get great coverage with very little shadow. I'm very happy with my Tartelette.

I have lots of shimmering eye shadows but really wanted matte selection. This is great with lots of colors. This was recommended by the girl who did my make up and I really like it.
Love love the matte colors

I use the medium shades for the crease of my eye, the lighter shades on my eyelids and I outline the corners with the darker shades.
Love All the Matte Shadows
MZ from Cupertino, CA
Even though the colors in this Taste Clay Matte Eyeshow Palette look muted, the colors are pretty saturated so I don't need to apply massive quantities to get the natural effect desired.
Love this for an older woman.....
VintageHippie from Appalachia
I'm embracing my silver and the change from my usual cocoa brown to this has left me feeling washed out. My regular makeup colors were not helping, so I decided to experiment with other things. I had never used this brand before, but it was suggested to me by an older friend. This stuff is AMAZING! I do use primer, but the staying power is KILLER! The colors are more saturated than I am accustomed to, and it just takes a LITTLE to do the job--so practicing will be key for me, but so far, it is great on my aging hooded eyes and helps me to not seem to washed out! Great stuff.
The Worst Palette I Own
chaz1990 from Cincinnati
Honestly, I don't get the hype. Sure, the colors are beautiful but they aren't very pigmented and it takes a lot of layers to build the color up. Also, I found they didn't blend well. Compared to my Anastasia and HUDA palettes this Tarte one falls completely short. I expected so much more from this product. It now lives in my car in a bag of emergency makeup.
I like it !!
Sarah from Ohio
I really enjoy this eye shadow pallet. It smells really good for one, and for me, I found the colors blend very easily. I used concealer (elf camo) as the base and had no issues with blending or layering multiple colors. After I used setting spray I really didn't notice any creasing but I didn't wear the colors for more than 5-6 hours. So I'm not sure how they will hold up on a 12-16 hour day. I love having a nude pallet all in one pallet it's convenient and small enough to throw in a bag or for travel!! Worth a try for sure!
In Love with this Palette!

Very good quality, the pigmentation is good, and it blends fantastic!
